The way I see it, as long as people aren't actively harming others or causing others to not have fun, there's nothing wrong with even using external software to actually literally cheat, let alone use in game mechanics/glitches/skips.

And with Speedrunning in particular, categories aren't made and THEN run. It's the opposite. Dedicated players who want to Speedrun start speedrunning, and when enough people run a category (usually 3 at least), it gets a leaderboard. So for people who say "glitches aren't a real Speedrun"

A) yes they are
B) if they don't like it, go Speedrun "glitchless" yourself

In Doom Eternals case the main reason you don't see "glitchless" runs, besides the fact that it's hard to really define what is and isn't a glitch in this game: such runs most likely wouldn't be THAT fun, hence the lack of people running said category.

The tldr is speedrunning is fun, people should have fun, and as long as people ARE having fun then yay! If people wanna say speedruns with glitches/skips aren't legit theyre welcome to an incorrect opinion, it still means I can have fun speedrunning the game. My skipping an arena shouldn't detract from another players fun, and if it does that's THEIR problem.

In Blood Swamps fog encounters, you used to be able to skip all of them by simple double jumps and mantles, and going through a "secret" area through the back.

Eventually they patched in an invisible wall (because of course they did) but before it was there, ANYONE could just go "through the back".

We can sort of conceptually understand "we were supposed to go through and fight stuff, so this is PROBABLY a skip", but there's nothing that specifically says "hey you cheated", there was no wall, it definitely wasn't out of bounds, etc.

For javelin tossing, there was NO rule saying that someone could or couldn't spin to build momentum before throwing the ball.

But this was dangerous as fuck. So when one person started doing it, they immediately established that rule. But that record from that toss I believe still stood, because it was technically within the rules at the time.

So for "glitchless" categories this is actually often what happens, someone finds something thats maybe a glitch maybe notz who knows. So the community for speedrunning the game discusses whether it should count or not.

But that's just one category. For Any% there's (usually) only 1 rule: use anything IN THE GAME to beat the game. External help is usually not allowed, so no macros, no cheat engine/hacks, etc.

The only way I would see something as "cheating" is if it gives an unfair advantage AGAINST other players. For a multiplayer game this is obvious. For speedrunning it's usually less obvious, but something like splicing a run, using macros or aimbot, etc would count as actually CHEATING

Tbh I can't imagine many cases where it wouldn't be clear with the Restricted rules set specifically

As I said before, I play with stadia controller and I haven’t had any issues. I haven’t used any other controller

I haven’t noticed any lag when playing though so maybe that’s a Bt controller thing or something else

In my case I also play with a wired connection on PC and chromecast. I never play on phone but on my iPad. It plays pretty well on iPad

Yep, I personally have not noticed that at all, but that's my personal experience. I think others might have experienced something different though. Hard to tell. Don't want ypu to think that I am defending the platform because I don't, but I personally haven't experience delay (the videos on my YouTube are using a stadia controller and no delay at all)

The only issue with streaming services for games is you really need to hope you live near a server. If you do you are golden. If you dont you are screwed

Think of a cell service. Some areas have better service than others for teh same phone. Now streaming services and data centers are much much more scarce. So its harder to live near one

On top of that it also depends on your own internet connection

That could very well be it. Network tech tends to start in the northeast (I’m thinking internet providers but servers are probably similar). If I was placing servers I’d base it on population density.

Are we actually sure that the Slayer's motive is saving Earth?

Since like, yeah, his careless attitude is badass and all and I love it, but at one point, it started to become questionable.

And the part where the 2nd Priest says "The Khan Makyr has you to thank for for Argent" got me thinking further.

Could his motivation be to solely destroy all traces of Argent, given how he could give less of a shit destroying Earth's Argent back in 2016?

Well, from what I personally understand, the regular demons (imps, barons, etc) don't have souls. They're just mindless goons created to do hell's bidding.
And the zombies are just former humans turned mindless under hell's "influence". They technically still have their souls.

Or maybe their souls are at the soul extractor we see in Eternal so the Khan Makyr can turn them into Argent. Not really sure there.

From what I recall, the only 'energy' the suit had was just a layer of Argent protecting it from both the demons' attacks and also any sort of weaponry that the UAC tried on it.

In other words, the Slayer even being able to die by the demons is pure game logic.

But then again, he uses a different suit in Eternal, so it might not apply to him there.
