Just beat The Ancient Gods part 2, and|| the boss at the end was so unreasonably bad, that it genuinely sapped me of all sense of accomplishment and joy from the fact I beat the game on UV (again). It's literally just a a souped up marauder that has arch vile mechanics, you can literally 2 cycle it with the SSG ballista combo, but ig the devs saw this and made him able to heal whenever he hits you, which is an absolute crime. Aside from this boss which feels rushed and unfinished, the game is near perfect.||

I just beat it too, and I'm inclined to agree. On the whole I really enjoyed both TAG1 and 2 on UV, and felt pretty good by how the game had really challenged me and everything I'd learned on every level; I had to come here for some protips on some sections, but now I feel like a real god, which is fitting, given the narrative, but hell, yeah, the bosses, BIG MEH. ||Rather just let it be over fast than pad it out by letting fuckers heal like Davoth, I find that INCREDIBLY frustrating and mean-spirited.|| Ultimately, though, I'm quite impressed with what they did with the story and dig the canon of the Slayer, and my headcanon is that this Slayer is my OG boy from Doom I and II; ||his hair colour just changed after he went through the Divinity Machine! 😄 || Big question I have is... what do I do now? But like, say your SSG is out and a Revenant bursts in so you aim at its cannon and swap to HC. During the time that swap takes, the cannon is not in the same place so you have to re-adjust before firing PB. Is that unique to switch, or is it a non-issue?

The biggest reason was no skill based matchmaking, so you'd have new slayers get destroyed because "2v1", then you had people who learned to quick swap destroying demon pubs, and THEN you had demons who used comms destroying slayers who didn't understand how the game mode plays at a high level, etc etc.

There's other stuff. The game was pushed early on as "multiplayer feels just like single-player does" in terms of "you can kill demons in a pvp mode" , but people got turned off when several mods were different from base game, and the obvious "no air control"

The fact they made an asymmetrical game mode that was relatively balanced at the highest level was pretty impressive

It requires the "dual lock" mastery, which is why it's called dual lock on tech. But SLOBS keeps the lock on forever. If you watch Mute's 100% runs he does a cool setup for the Tyrant glory kill where he does PB rocket SLOBS, and looks straight up so that all 4 lock on bursts avoid carcass shields.

PC also has the benefit of most people use Discord and therefore do scrims in private matches, rather than queueing in pubs. Whereas the average switch user may not use discord and so they mostly do pubs.

It's still like how most of my time on 2016 went.
I'd finish a fight, and as I'm swaying my fists in pride, I'd realize that my BFG and Chainsaw slots are all full.

Again, this is first time playing Eternal. Shouldn't be this easy.

I wouldn't really say that.
The amount of new mechanics, changes and tweaks to the gameplay and the fact that the equipments now actually matter really make Eternal feel like an entirely seperate game in a few aspects.
Sure, having beaten 2016 on UV definitely helped me out, but Eternal's combat is WAY more unhinged if you will.

But the biggest elements of 2016 are in eternal

Namely movment and quickswapping / target prioritization
