Despite the textbox saying it’s “not even remotely fair,” Doom 1’s Nightmare isn’t that much harder than UV imo. It’s noticeably harder, and requires you to play aggressively (you don’t necessarily have to in the normal game), but it’s still quite doable. Nightmare in classic Doom mod campaigns are a different story though.

"For survivability, it's unanimous that Air Control is first. Most are Equipment Fiend 2nd (the SSG Mastery works with the rune which pushes it over the edge of good), and 3rd choice is basically preference. Though I will say faster Savagery doesn't really help (less I frames from GKs). I highly recommend Dazed and Confused"

also don’t forget about headshots. if you can land them consistently you can do outrageous damage with pb/balista

works well against tyrants since they don’t move their heads that much

You don’t do anything with them. The game will give you rewards based on how many you have (unlocked 1 streak, get the reward). Note that you don’t cash them in, so it’s not like you need 20+ to get every reward.

8 is enough for demons, 7 is enough for slayers. Anything after that means you’re grinding out for leaderboard rewards, which are just title cards
