Instead of being Nightmare but even harder, maybe where you can already encounter some of the stronger heavy demons like Mancubi and Dread Knights on the first level

And then you will fight Barons and other Super Heavies on the second

And the difficulty will only ramp up from there

Maybe have your first Marauder fight right after you get the Super Shotgun in this difficulty

But nah, NM but deathless is just easier to program I guess

After TAG2, I don't wanna see what TAG3 would be like. Arena AND encounter designs were rather uninspired, I doubt we'd get much better on a 3rd.

I would want "more eternal" in some form, like official modding tools for players, but I also don't have much confidence in how id would implement it. Not to mention it's probably not very worth it for them, money wise.

I hate master levels. TAG 1 in general is the hardest official content if not counting master levels

don't hesitate to drop difficulty at first if you find yourself struggling

To be honest this is kind of true. Marauders are pretty much the antithesis of Doom (or at least Eternal). In a game designed around both movement and shooting and being proactive, here comes an enemy that not only requires you to be reactive (parrying), but also requires you to limit your movement (can only parry if you specifically stay still/on the ground/near him).

Even compared to Blood Maykrs and Armored Barons, at least you can keep your momentum/do different movement while fighting them, even if they're inherently also traffic light enemies.

Marauders just slow the pace down in a forced way. And no amount of one cycles can make them that much more engaging. 1 cycles are neat, sure, but they don't inherently make the Marauder a well designed enemy.

@jaunty vapor marauders needed to be mixed in with basic mobs a lot more in the base game, the two marauder fight with hellknights, a whiplash and some mobs in the BFG10000 master level is the "thesis" of eternal

Marauder fights on their own are kinda slow and boring, but once youre forced to fit their "cycles" into a full-on arena fight youre forced to use everything in your arsenal

If the marauder didn’t get activated by enemies, they would have been a perfect enemy to toss in with hordes

God I still think that was the dumbest decision, leading to the greatest waste of potential in this game

Even if this weren't the case, I don't think Marauders add much value to an encounter, but ESPECIALLY with friendly fire activating shield, they really don't fit.

Its cause "doing damage" already falters enemies, and normal rocket does 300 direct 600 splash.

Remote Det does, on paper, 400 splash (+200 with the one upgrade), but for some dumb reason Remote det has so much damage falloff compared to normal rockets, you'll usually do 200 or less per shot.
