BATS stands for bring-up animation transfer switching, and it allows you to transfer the bring-up speed of one weapon to another, can be done in multiple ways and one of them being mod swap cancelling (press mod swap, immediately switch to another weapon to cancel to the bring-down of a weapon, if done incorrectly you'll see a normal mod swap)
silent mod swapping is when you swap, immediately press mod swap, this will change the mod in the first weapon without any animation if done correctly, if done incorrectly you'll do a manual swap in the second
silent BATS combines mod swap cancelling and silent mod swapping, so the inputs are: mod swap, swap weapon, mod swap
and it just does what both of them does but at the same time
silent BATS is most likely needlessly advanced so i'd stick to silent mod swapping
and there's a decent bit to mention about silent BATS too

so its nothing but stay exactly at one certain place away from him. SSG when he flashes green, hammer and spam dmg combos. Also he heals if u shoot his shield. Nothing special. Plus he never attacks

the sentinel hammer they have no clue how to balance (even if it is awesome)
I think this is part of why I like dark ages so much, cause you can get ammo back so quickly with melee attacks now, it flows so much better than eternal because of it
They should have made bfg units 360, 120 ammo each for bfg shot and everything else for unmakyr
crucible usage is way too simple and infrequent, its cool but couldve had a cooler system
i think its fine but the Savagery rune should speed it up

i dont have complaints abt the gameplay but i hate that i cant skip the animation where doomguy slowly inserts his sentinel battery into each energy thingy

everything's so fast and frantic that at the end of a tough level instead of feeling fulfilled I honestly just feel mentally drained a lot of the time
also the bigger arenas in dlcs and master levels can just drag on for ages and ages until you just want it to end

any time you wanna use a mod mid air slows down time, game as movement heavy as DE it dam near feels like a negative status effect

UN TAG2 is the easiest of the 3. Largely due to how short it is.

as long as you know how to beat the dark lord and you abuse the hammer, its actually absurdly easy. If you play with intent to abuse the hammer theres no challenge at all, if you don't then it can be kinda hard
I didn't really like the hammer much, so I tend to avoid it

Short encounters, short levels, hammer being powerful is ofc a major factor
I greatly prefer the Crucible for a quick escape when I miscalculate a movement or manage to somehow not notice a particular demon is in the arena before he's already in my face.
The hammer I didn't really use very effectively, and the cartoony sound effects really drew me out of the game, so I mostly avoided using it.

Not that I used the Crucible much either, but it's nice to have for them sudden moments where there's no time to think or act.
i think it's kinda dumb how the hammer was a universal solution to problems (low armor/health, bad ammo management, bad positioning)

It also makes the marauder (the best enemy in the whole game mind you) a complete joke

As much as I didn't enjoy the hammer personally, I don't mind it being present. The folks I know that didn't really vibe with Eternal all had a similar complaint, which centered around there being too much going on the entire time and too much for them to manage. While I'm great at multitasking and tend to thrive better when there is more to focus on at a time, I understand that others can't really do it the same and have their own very different strengths. I think having a tool to help mitigate a glaring issue for some of the fanbase isn't a bad thing so long as the rest of us have the choice to just not use it.
The hammer is awesome
Another way to falter enemies? Yes please. Only issue is that it’s ridiculous easy to get. If it was 4-5 charges, it would be a perfect balance. And we can see what a level is like when it’s balanced around the hammer with World Spear ML
Opinions like that are why I think it's a good thing the hammer is in the game overall despite my preferences.

I'll have to try it out more in Horde and in Master Levels when I get a proper PC together again. Maybe it'll manage to grow on me.
But yeah it really needs to be balanced accordingly for custom maps. Its one of if not THE strongest tool in the arsenal

the hammer isn't a falter though, it's a whole-ass stun
making it take more charges isn't a sufficient solution in my opinion, as each usage of the hammer severely detracts from the game's intended challenge and breaks many of the foundations
I wouldn’t put it in everything, but having it every now and then is appreciated. I don’t think it necessarily replaces the other options more so contributes to the resource management. The reason I say this is because you actively need to engage in gameplay to get it. Which is why I think 4-5 charges is perfect for it.
i'd make it require 2/3 points to charge, fodder headshot kills and weakpoint destruction is 0,5 points, heavy headshot kills is 1 point
then half the damage it deals, remove ammo drops, drastically decrease armor drops and decrease health drops, and make the stun a hard falter
optimally, it would be replaced by something like the sentinel axe (a modded that replaces the hammer)

Eternal's end game meta is basically just falter looping enemies, so I think it’s just an extension of that. Plus there are ways to balance it beyond adjusting resources. Screechers were introduced to literally deter hammer usage. Possessed or Screecher buffed enemies can only be stunned via microwave beam. Hammer's main function is useless against them
Hammer is meant to be strong, I personally wouldn’t nerf it in any major way beyond adjusting the charges. The game already possesses mechanics that can balance the usage. Hazards, screechers, spirits, etc.

It turns proper resource management into just farming charges for the hammer
it provides excessive resources across the board, eliminating the need for good flame belching, glory killing, and chainsawing. on top of this it severely reduces the need for good positioning and enemy threat management, as anytime that's an issue you can just daze everything somewhat close to you. generally, this game promotes efficient usage of your arsenal and maximizing the utility of each weapon, but the hammer is more like a universal solution which therefore limits player skill expression. the hammer lets you get away with worse plays across the board while reducing skill expression (at the very least not increasing it).
it's not even close to the blood punch. the blood punch ties in well with the gunplay while having many different practical applications and promoting skill expression and individual playstyles a lot. it's also not excessive and the way you charge it is by doing things well.
It plays into the falter/stun system. You have to actively engage in gameplay mechanics (getting GKs and part breaks) to get it in the first place, and then proper usage and multiply your existing boons. You can already get huge amounts of health and armour without the hammer. The most it rly does is trivialise the chainsaw which I’d argue is offset by the charges required (which in my ideal scenario would be 4-5).
making glory kills charge the hammer was also terrible
A free 4 second stun does not play into the falter system
It encourages you to completely ignore it, because why falter an enemy (which takes some skill, mind you) when you can just press V and stun him and everything around it
And weak point breaks and gks are already incentivized—there is zero need for an all powerful weapon that charges on something you should be doing anyway
that's an extremely reductive view of the end-game "meta", and doesn't really take into consideration that people have different playstyles. screechers are terrible enemies and when you need to modulate the usage or effectiviness of a tool via external means, that should indicate it's opverpowered. moreover, that forces map makers to use these modulators, or risk making their encounters significantly weaker and not as reflective of eternal's general philosophy.

having GKs charge the hammer also risks incentivizing players to overly glory kill to the point where it's bad for their gameplay (maybe not when the hammer is there, but without it it definitely is)
Flame belching or icebombing a crowd of fodder will already give you excessive resources. Once again, this can easily be balanced by using more difficult enemies at once where the resource boon is needed. And once again it requires game planning to use the hammer effectively too, especially if you’re in a pickle. Gotta Iceborne and flamebelch a group of demons and then hammer. You just get more, which as I said could be necessitated by enemy placement balance.
The daze is powerful sure, but an ice bomb or double frag isn’t? Again, add more possessed or screechers.
And once gain, I don’t think it limits creativity at all. It’s just a tool that you can use to extend your combos lol. It can be a crutch for new players but it can also be excellent for vets as well.
How does the hammer not tie into gunplay? You need to get weakpoint breaks lol. Most people use it on Mancubi and proceed to break weakpoints to get it back. It is essentially an extended falter. If microwave beam locking is considered advanced and conducing to gunplay, I don’t see how the hammer cannot contribute to it either lol.
Screechers are excellent enemies lol. They make you adjust your approach. Can’t spam Pb rockets or whatever, you have to avoid an enemy instead of just killing them.
because point-blanking a baron/mancubus/dread knight/tyrant/caco/pain elemental to get them to falter has zero risk involved, right 😆
and besides, once you soft falter them once, there's an immunity window

It quite literally plays into lol. And it’s not like you’re getting the hammer that often (if it was 4-5 charges), like that’s around the same frequency as a blood punch or frag, or the timing around soft falters. Like it’s a long stun window sure but it’s a super weapon. It’s meant to be strong.
Hence it plays into the existing systems. You already want to break weakpoints cause they falter enemies, heavily nerf enemies and do good damage, and now they give you charges for the hammer.
And its even worse when they are starting to spawn

it is true that the flame belch already provides the player with excessive resources, restacking is already busted! but at least there's quite a bit to learn about restacking effectively (even at the advanced level of play), the hammer is generally mindless and due to the excessiveness of it, can just be spammed. and let's say the charge requirements were upped, making it less spammable. it would still be game breaking on each use, and it isn't particularly skillful still.
like i said earlier, using external means of balancing a single tool is drastically worse than just nerfing or reworking the tool itself for many reasons.

"Again, add more possessed or screechers." again, better to just fix the issue.
the hammer limits creativity by being a universal solution to encounters and excelling at a great deal of fundamental eternal skills without you actually... well.. having to learn the skills. threat management? reduced. positiong? eh. restacking? lol. the hammer isn't used to extend combos. while it does apply FSE and you can Wack Swap it, it is by no means a combo tool.
the hammer doesn't tie into gunplay because it reduces the need for high DPS (again, the daze, which even applies to marauders, armored barons, etc). weak points are already at the top of the priority list when entering a battle, and being more rewarded for destroying them doesn't change anything. and the microwave beam isn't particularly advanced.

also, something being wack swappable doesn't mean a lot when you can literally wack swap a mod swap animation lol, same goes for applying fse, when the literal ssg reload animation can do that

I was curious to see how they'd function and they seem to work fine, they're just missing attacks, sounds and most animations. They do have the 3-blade swipe and stomp though and deal damage.

The meathook dll will unlock other console commands and cvars that you might need, I think the one in Nexumods still works even if it's dated 2022.

After reverifying files, just drag and drop the injector files and overwrite the old ones. Run it once, and DE should launch afterwards. Try and see if it boots with those commands.
That would be the mod injector. For right now just update that and see if it has any effect when you boot up DE.
I think meathook has been deprecated and replaced by Kaibz's advanced options actually. Been a while since I checked out what that does.

Basically they use to be regular seasons but when the I think it was 6.66 update came they combined like 3-4 passes together into mega passes and made them last longer I feel like you should just be able to switch them honestly

i managed to get one to 0 hp, where it should've died, but then i apparently dealt -1 damage, so it healed back up to 1 hp??
the way doom hunters take damage is so cooked
as far as i am aware, it's generally fine
whenever I use lock on burst on a sledless doom hunter I honestly never know what's gonna happen
even though numbers-wise, it should kill him 100% of the time
that's quite logical though, i believe they got some kind of resistance towards lob (it's 3 am, won't check exact numbers now), which is why they sometimes stagger
however, any potential excess damsge you dealt when you took them off their sled is transferred to their second phase
for example, if they have 2600 HP (sled is 7500-2500, sled-less is 2500-1) and you deal 600 damage, their sled-less phase will start with 2000 HP

also holy crap doom hunters have damage resistance to LOB

could be when they removed iframes during their detachment, it made damage carry over, and it's just treated as a normal health pool
and lol yeah, doom hunter's first phase take 0 damage from lobs
there are a few oddities with DHs and damage though
since a lot of times sledless doom hunters die outright from a LOB I kinda just assumed that they had no damage resistance to it
although micromissiles are still super weird with them
the last micro missiles you hit them with will deal 0 damage, and the rest 130, so a chain of 10 MMs will only deal the damage of 9
and if you tap MMs, you will get no damage at all

and if you blast them with micromissiles they can get into GK without even dismounting the sled somehow
and they seem to have beef with direct damage in their first phase from various sources, so that 130 is all splash and no direct

which is a big contrast to their normal 5 splash and 100 direct

Personally I play Doom to enjoy the combat, ambience and music and got plenty of mileage out of every game. Any character that tries to take the limelight, my mind filters out automatically just like how everytime I try to make sense of nuDoom's plot 'nuances' I zone out. I start and end at 'Slayer is 1993 Doomguy blessed by angel, he stronk and angry' and everything else is brown noise.

im not big on eternal and onward's story but i think in 2016 samuel has very good characterisation and he's a very welcome presence that improves the game

his exposition-y dumps in 2016 serves as both a way to characterise how he treats other human life and also serves to show how doomguy doesnt gaf about it given the numerous times he interrupts him (particularly at the intro), it's fun working with someone who disagrees with your methods heavily but both of you don't have any other choice (also it's really funny when you go against his instructions), stuff like that really makes 2016 more appealing to eternal for me
the main simple story isn't treated like a mystery it's only if you read the codexes for the deeper story so it's all out of the way in 2016
i can't think of any time the story tried to be mysterious about the very main plot in 2016 other than that tree in kadingir which vagues about the mastermind but that's more like foreshadowing than a mystery
