well, there is a lore explanation, he's weak since doomguy took some of his power with a shard from the divinity machine which came from davoth, and also they had time constraints becuase they told people theyd make 2 dlcs within 1 year within the peak of covid, he was gonna have a dragon phase

both dlcs total up to 6 levels, which is basically half of eternal's campaign in length, and they had to make it in 1 year with covid dragging them back

so if they instead took 1 year on both dlcs, they wouldve come out alot better

ngl at this point I'm decent at the game and ultra-violence feels rather forgiving, not to mention the game has an abundance of lives, thus if I ever decide to replay the game I will play it on nightmare

I kinda suck at avoiding enemy attacks in Eternal (though that seems to be the point) but I know how to utilize the mechanics effectively
quickswapping, getting armor, using the normal grenade and the ice grenade, chainsaw usage etc

avoiding attacks almost always doesn't (or shouldn't at least) happen reactively, it's something you do proactuvely my managing your positioning, momentum, routing, etc

1. damage falter, when you cross a specific threshold in damage against demons in a short time, they falter, if the sticky crosses this, it will falter
   this is however a soft falter so it doesn't always work
2. if it breaks a weakpoint, then it always falters

yeah there's a very neat falter system in eternal

there are 2 types of falters: hard falters and soft falters, soft falters will not falter if the demon has been faltered within a few seconds earlier (timer depends on demons, it's the longest for superheavies at about 8-10s, for heavies it can be as low as 3s), the 2 soft falters are: remote detonation and damage falters
hard falters will always falter, and they include blood punch, frag grenades, heat blast, microwave beam (technically a stun but you can quick tap with it to get something like a falter), and weak point destruction

Makyr dimension is my favorite level in Doom Eternal.

Their perception is warped through the fact 99% of 2016 took place indoors which meant low contrast lighting conditions, so the game looked 'grittier'. Eternal isn't as heavy on speculars and shadows since every enemy emits fake lighting for visibility purposes and most maps are well-lit.

Also as someone pointed out before, 2016's model viewer (which everyone annoyingly refers to) is jacked up as shit and has like 3 directional lights, fog and an actual skybox. The in-game models look nothing like that.

Eternal's story isn't the best, but it does have its moments. And the lore contained within the codex furthers the overall lore of Doom. I fucking love listening to the ARC broadcasts.

2016's codex was revolved around UAC's limited understanding of what they're doing, explains the state of earth, and opening future story notes for Eternal to take up.

Eternal's gameplay is honestly more unique than 2016 will ever be. There's so many tactics and options to pick from. And mobility is damn good. My biggest issue with 2016 is how damn slow we are.

see I hate that pb is a huge start off point for a lot of quick swapping bc I don't hardly use the heavy cannon and when I do I use micro missiles, let's not get into why I do that but I make em work, however I'll have to remember that tech next time I play eternal

you can replace the pb tons of stuff

pb is used to activate something called fse (fast swap effect), which can make the rocket launcher/combat shotgun swap much faster, but there are tonss of other fse activators

pb is often used because it's got relatively good damage, is easy to use, and is fast itself

you also don't even need a starter to slob, but that's not very well known

quick switching can't, but it makes it easier, as it's one out of the many aspects to eternal's combat, and not even the most important

if you absolutely need quick swaps to survive, it means that you can't sustain yourself in battle for longer

i didn't find it myself, but i have been able to implement the meathook in such a way that you can stay in the air for insane time periods very well, and not that many actually know just how long you can stay in the air
