The hammer is just such an odd weapon, it seems to exist to kind of reinforce what the players taught but at the same time kinda throws it out the window by bringing you to full stack just for flame belching like 4 imps, the WS ML tries to balance itself around the hammer but I don’t think there’s any piece of content possible with hammer that’d be impossible without it, official or otherwise, TAG2 already is easier than TAG1 but the hammer is really that nail in the coffin that spoils the combat for a lot of people

I can’t say I have very strong opinions about any of the campaign levels because in early game you have a fraction of your arsenal, equipment, and upgrades, and when the late game comes around it’s extremely undertuned in its difficulty proportionate to what the player has at their disposal

Base game is by far Mars Core. Some of the campaign's best fight compositions and it has the strongest integration of platforming and combat. Plus the spectacle is cool.
If we include DLC it's probably UAC Atlantica. I love a strong techbase level and every single fight is perfectly calibrated for a fully geared Slayer. And those raindrops on your gun? 👨‍🍳 💋

There definitely is for some attacks. One of the worst parts about the Marauder is that if he shotguns you he not only takes 75% of your HP stack, he also massively slows you down making it hard to reposition.

Imp fireballs are stupid fast but you can juke them most of the time.

hey all i havent played eternal in a minute and im replaying the game now just got to tag1 again on nightmare the only enemy that gives me trouble is the doom hunter, i feel like i kill him super slow

i use the plasma gun to deplete his shield usually and then just rocket and pb his sled til its gone but the whole process takes forever compared to other demons

is there a good quick way to kill this guy?

As much as I love Eternal it does feel a bit disconnected from Doom 2016. Not just in terms of gameplay btw. Every modern doom entry is very distinctive and different, I can't compare them. 2016 is the grindhouse entry where story and mechanical complexity takes a backseat in favor of pure campy violence. Eternal ramps up the goofiness and color to 11 while also adding a more conventional story to it, almost feels like power metal. TDA is epic sci-fi horror with the most prevalent story and the goofiness relatively toned down (tho the campiness is shown with the metal-af weaponry, that shit looks GOOD).

What also feels disconnected is that suddenly, Slayer is in a castle, Hayden is not as much of a corporate dickwad, and the betrayal at the end of 2016 went more-or-less nowhere. Oh and suddenly Earth is fucked.

Tho I'm not that bothered by it at all, regarding DOOM for me, gameplay goes first

Should be able to, although TBH there are other factors that you might be concerned about if you have a budget system that would have that kind of card. Generally the rule of thumb is if you can run DOOM 2016 at high settings you can handle Eternal at at least low settings

I'm also gonna go ahead and say that with graphical settings, at 1080p most of them aren't really noticable beyond motion blur and texture quality.

You might maybe have a little LOD pop-in catch your eye from time to time but that's about it
