I play on console too, I use the defaults personally. The weapon wheel can be used lightning fast if you get used to it, you close it faster than it opened. It can be used as a quick switch this way.

although I don’t feel too bad considering even the world record run spends 6 minutes on it

yeah it’s tame but also it has a lot more combat than the other two, in where you just skip a lot of it, however the trials are required for progression in NMG

so while there’s less skips to fuck up, there’s more combat to fuck up

and I guess that’s why I didn’t really note it like that earlier because you KNOW when you fuck up a skip, because it just doesn’t land, but your efficiency in combat has a lot more room for subjectiveness

well the way I learn is I prioritize the skips before the combat routing, which leads to blood swamps being a total pain in the ass, also because more combat = more RNG, because enemies won’t behave the same way every time

Hmmm, I understand that, RNG can be quite frustrating. A point id like to bring up tho; isn't the dark lord your most consistent and best segment of any Speedrun? Meaning your most consistent part of any Speedrun is a combat section? Ik that consistency isn't everything, and that you likely won't practice any combat encounter as much as you've practiced the dark lord, but I still thought it was a point I should bring up, just to at least hear your thoughts on it.

the dark lord is far from consistent, considering my best time for him is is like 1:36 but the run I submitted that was WR had a time of 2:03, although such a difference in time could be highly beneficial to me, it was unnecessary since the former world record was 2:20, so it was very easy for me to get a bad time and just be able to settle for it, making it “consistent” in its own special way

Yeah that's pretty insane. Yours, as you said, is like a barebones version of the world record run. The skips are extremely flashy and fun to watch in the level, but idk if they'd be as fun to do as they are to watch. I feel that there were several skips quarth did that you haven't really begun implementing into your route yet. And the ones you have are not done nearly as efficiently as the WR run. Although I suppose that is why the WR is over a minute ahead of you.

Bulldozer makes that boss fight a joke btw, it just destroys samur, it's not even funny. Also the caco phase is stupid. When I played tag 1 i didn't even know it was a timer, I think it's rediculous.

You can still use the garbage mods if you want to beat the game with them, but just like any other game, it has weapons that are optimal to use as you said. That doesn't make it unbalanced. Maybe just Air control and definitely shield, but you can easily play without those.

No, those are not. They are strong compared to the other mods, but they are not broken by any means.

That's well known. Remote det is pretty bad, it has its uses, but it is not optimal by any means. However, you can easily play without LOB or Dblade without many issues. The same cannot be said without shield. That's how you know a mod is too good. Same applies for air control

I can still easily play without lob, dblade and shield, in fact, I always do that, doesn't mean that they aren't way too good

I would love to be able to have some variety in my mods and see way more viable options

You can though. You can probably play without any rocket mod and ballista mod as their base shot is good enough. The point is that Dblade and LOB are good, but they aren't broken. It does not mean that you cannot use the other mods - people beat the game even with Full auto which I think is full trash.

the earliest i chainsaw when i'm doing fine is 1/4th and also due to my frequent glory kills and blood punches and grenades and flames i use quite little ammo compared to gameplay i see

the ice bomb is good for restacking with flame belch of if you landed yourself in a bad situation, if neither of those things happen you can use it to kill enemies faster
