because splash damage doesn’t follow collision rules, if a wall is small enough and somehow an enemy is on the other end hugging the wall it’s theoretically possible to damage them that way, but like you said dblade only counts the initial damage because if they had multiple intervals of damage it’d basically end up doing damage constantly which would definitely not be Intended

you’d basically have a more busted version of bulldozer if dblade functioned like that, hypothetically they could’ve implemented a sort of check system where it checks multiple times where it is in the enemies collision but that would lead to even more problems because bethesda published this

I think it's weird to me because Siege mode still seems to count as partially hitting their weak point.

As Siege mode going through their whole body and out their back does a lot more damage than just Siege moding them from the side.

So it's weird that Destroyer Blade doesn't have the same logic as Siege mode

Siege mode is also hitscan, which could play a huge factor as it doesn’t have to double check where it’s hitting at, a similar thing could probably happen with ballista base fire if didn’t just get blocked by the armor

Why does Destroyer Blade feel like it has RNG damage.

I just fully charged D bladed a group of three spectre Whiplashes, and they only staggered. They didn't die

On the Taras Nabad Master Level

Also another Whiplash I fully charged Destroyer Bladed, and she just flinched/faltered.

it’s not, you might be charging different tiers, a fully charged dblade should always outright kill a whiplash

well there’s also a quirk where whiplashes very often go beneath your dblade by slithering on the ground, and the falter you mentioned could be the upgrade perk

but dblade is the same damage every time if you’re using the tier you intended to use, there are definitely details being left out

it makes sense if you staggered the whiplashes with a tier 2 dblade because it does 1600 damage, and whiplashes stagger at 1500 damage, and the other case you mentioned could be a result of the other scenario I mentioned or perhaps reaching their soft falter damage threshold with a tier 1

not even, the spawns in that place are very much RNG, other than the marauder, which i set up a spawnblock for, just a happy little coincidence that the prowler spawned in the same area

It kinda feels like the closest vanilla official thing to a modded encounter outside of some of the Master Levels
