In Eternal there's ray tracing, so you can see your reflection, in 2016 you only see the Slayer in the first cutscene and in the end credits. Never in the game

Oddly enough it is actually pretty common for him to not block the tendrils if you shoot it at the sky from the opposite direction of the Marauder.

Though it will just hurt him,not kill him , unless he's close to dead

Mastering no AC movement feels great. I'll summerize it by saying that instead of constantly jumping while shooting, you'll be single dashing. It's a difficult skill to learn, but single dashing while quick switching makes your movement extremely unpredictable. As for being in the air, you of course still have options. Learning to control you air direction with ballista boosts is extremely satisfying, and feels a bit like Quake rocket jumping because of the angled boosts

I gotcha, but modded mp is completely different. Like there's slayer vs slayer, co op, and invasion. Those new modes, (especially slayer vs slayer and co-op) are entirely different. There's a reason people play those modes and not battlemode 3.0. It's because they're looking for something other than battlemode. I love battlemode and all of the other mp modes, but I understand why people just play the other modded modes.

Invasion mode is a PvP mode where two player demons fight you as you progress through campaign levels. It's done through the multiplayer lobby, so they aren't exactly invading your campaign out of nowhere lmao. As the slayer, you invite two friends to a lobby, pick a level, and you guys go at it. You just beat each encounter without dying by AI or player demons. If you die during an encounter, you must try that encounter again. The Slayer wins by reaching the end of the level, and the demons win by killing the Slayer 15 times. Difficulty can be changed for the Slayer at the beginning of level via a switch, with nightmare making being the Slayer the ultimate challenge. Player demons can buff AI, go invisible, give themselves armor to reduce damage, and of course they have they have their traditional battlemode abilities. They gotta work together to win.

Slayer vs Slayer is like a quake duel, but MUCH faster. Of course it isn't completely comparable to quake given how unique eternal is, but there are certainly quake elements which exist in SvS. In slayer vs slayer, you kill your opponent with better positioning, better map control, good aim, good movement, and good restacking. Two slayers are placed into an arena, with fodder around for armor/ammo, 2 soul spheres exist on opposite ends of the arena for health, and a bfg pickup is always in the middle of each map. Picking up these health spheres before your opponent does when they're low could deprive them of getting health back, so that's an important tactic to learn. Getting the bfg pickup first will grant you even more control over the round. The bfg kills all enemies, so shooting the bfg to kill all fodder for about 7 seconds will deprive the opponent of an opportunity for ammo and armor. Outside of map control, you gotta learn how to move and deal damage. Ballista boosting, b hopping, and meathooking around for fast traversal to important positions while dealing poke with pb ballista is the first stage in combat. Then, when you feel confident enough, it's time to push. Using things like the bfg to block armor is perfect during this time. Then, you can engage the opposing slayer by meathooking him and finishing him off with good execution on your weapon swaps.

I just beat the original campaign on ultra-violence again last night, I am also on Xbox, I just started playing Eternal for the first time in over a year about 5-6 weeks ago.

One combat tip that I can give you is for the bigger enemies, get used to the Super Shotgun-Ballista chain, as everyone will tell you 🤣 but other than that: get familiar with your aerial combat. If you’re not great at it, using the Chrono Strike rune to help you get better at it.

Don’t be afraid to use that chainsaw, save the fodder enemies until absolute last that way you have plenty of ammo. You can use the chainsaw on Imps, zombies, zombie soldiers, and the gargoyles but I wouldn’t use them on anything more than that because it will use up all of your chainsaw ammo.

for comparison, try to jump and then press your movement keys while in the air, then do the same with the rune

you'd see that the difference in movement is pretty huge
