I still don't like it that you have to reload in that game one of many Doom rules the only weapon that could be reloaded in a doom game is the super shotgun and the super shotgun only that's just me though

Like I said haven't played the original so I don't know if this applies it's to the original Doom 3 but mostly every gun in the game in Doom 3 BFG edition is basically a fucking Nerf gun even the super shotguns not really that good so I would recommend using the plasma rifle just as a heads up

But the mods (Sticky Bombs and Full Auto) make it good

There's going to be times where you don't have blood punch because pinkies and cyber manc. I don't really use chaingun shield that often myself. I can usually roflstomp a Doom Hunter by SSG+Ballista the cart and then finish it off with a LoB and a glory kill, but like if theres 2 of them back to back, I might pull the full auto out and go after the other one.
Unless youre a really good player and have max hp and armour often then maybe yeah
Ssg ballista isnt fast nor good for doom hunters tho
I try to stay at 50% or more at all times before I go in for a kill. Armor on the other hand, it goes so fast on nightmare. I just try at all costs to avoid being hit by the attacks that matter.
SSG Ballista seems to work for me well, but I forgot in a perfect scenario, I'll blood punch once and then SSG Ballista

A perfect kill for me would be meathook, blood punch,SSG+ballista until the cart comes off, LoB. No Glory kill.

That room is a wide open space so most of the time wen I Lob'd, all 3 would hit.
Ah. That is right. Probably some oddities with the Blood Punch shockwave. That or some other kind of weirdness like with Prowler and Arbalest.
I think maybe Ballista splash sometimes, but if I make a direct hit, does splash count on the same target?
The sheet does list them as additive damage, for whatever that's worth.
So maybe that's it. I'm guessing if I make a direct hit, the splash is different just enough at a different angle each time to glory state
The reason why I saw on a Doom Hunter that a perfect kill for me doesn't end in a Glory is because there's usually something else I need to take care of just after like a Baron or Cursed Prowler. I'll either have the second blood punch ready or not need it anyways. I do take the time to find fodder and use heavy cannon base fire on them to charge it tho.

pre 6.66 it was a very consistent glory kill, because of the iframes Inbetween phases, but it’s still an oddity to people because its 5000 hp first phase and 2500 hp second phase, with doom hunter having no resistance at all towards lock on, so it should be 2700 damage, but because of some weird quirk, he tanks more damage than he should be able to, I’ve seen this in a document before
I forgot about the dual health bars. So there is something weird about how the damage calculates.
If I fight 10 Doom Hunters off the cart and direct hit every LoB on each one, I find that 5 of them will glory state and 5 will just die. Give or take.
Also, did Revenants get any changes? I feel like They're made of paper now compared to when I first started.

when i do 1 cycle pb grenade double lockon on marauder sometime the second lockon got delay ( didnt get the speed up second lockon from swapping PB to RL)

only time I use micro missiles is when I accidentally equip them instead of PB

I don't like the regular micro missiles, but the temporary buffed versions can melt basically anything nearly instantly.

A lot of people don't know this but you can also shoot dead bodies with base fire before they disappear to buff them as well

During certain death states the "shoot at dead bodies" trick won't work though.
Like it they're gibbed or cut in half, or if their body exploded (I.E. Arachnotron)
You can't shoot an enemy that was glory killed/chainsawed/killed with any execution animation to buff it either

Thy Flesh Consumed is a mixed bag with high highs and low lows.

no, bulldozer, it’s neither of those things, it’s a glitch where the game confuses your dash state for energy shield and walk state so it kinda makes both happen at once and deals 200 damage every effective frame
Also I just checked, he loses his invulnerability to bulldozer if you hammer him first

it’s just prepping it ( opening the weapon wheel until it reaches full timeslow ) and then after that it’s prepped until a checkpoint is loaded or level is changed. Then all you have to do is dash into an enemy and pull up your shield at the end of your dash

DESRU ( the speedrunning utility ) has the ability to rebind the tilde key to ctrl + shift + tilde making it very hard to accidentally press
there’s no crazy instructions for installation or anything either, you just kinda install it, do it’s rudimentary set up, and then launch it before doom eternal and it just works

I find interesting that completely different enemies with different body structures have the exact same animation though
usually, characters in a game only share the same animations if they have the same skeleton and similar body structures
the only important animations are the head reactions and the bone snapping
those seem to be close enough to fit without obviously warping after slight tweaks

The Dark Lord is the ruler of Hell. He and Doomguy are not the same - they just look identical.
Per TAG1's lore, Davoth (the Dark Lord in question) is the first being of Hell, or Jekkad as it was originally called. TAG1 claims the Father created him as a Primeval to lead one of his realms - TAG2 explains what the truth behind this is.

What's an Eternal mission that you thought was top tier but lowered a lot over time?
For me Arc Complex. It has some of the best fights, flow, and presentation, and the best music.
But the pacing falls apart after the kitchen/restaurant fight with all the lame elevator rides, turret cutscenes, tunnels, underground....until you reach the garage.
And it just feels a bit too long for its own good after the kitchen fight
That underground segment really killed it for me
I always skip it cause I just don't care
But it USED to be my #1 Eternal mission for so long because the kitchen fight and Slayer Gate are god tier
Yeah after the kitchen fight, I have began to just punch swap Ballista boost to the ending bridge.
My enjoyment of that level's music has also decreased quite drastically
I like it, but Metal Hell and Gladiator are better

I like them all. Every time I'm at work I listen to the OST, 2016, Eternal, the DLCs, and the remake of the classic tracks. It's randomized, pushes me to work faster, and get home sooner

I'm not sure where it plays, I have around 50 hours in 2016, and still didn't finish it since I find it hard to get back to it after Eternal
There was a time where I thought it was hard to go back to, but when I ended up finishing the game, I started liking it a lot more than I used to, and Eternal started making 2016 feel like a brand new game again because of me applying cracked quick swap combos and Gauss boosting to my gameplay
So Eternal eventually made me appreciate 2016 even more if that makes sense

But you can also skip to encounters, skip to bosses, or trigger checkpoints with the 2016 photo mode, so it's basically a cheat code at times lol
That's probably why Eternal doesn't have as much free camera, to prevent those exploits

I've played through the campaign on Nightmare and it was such a grind, then I tried UN, managed the first level Hell on Earth, then I went back to Hurt me Plenty since I just wasn't able to get through the next level, always died in the same arena, lost my energy and endurance.
I feel comfortable on Ultra Violence, did that in Extra Live mode easily butNightmare is a huge step for me

In the SGN ML I once got softlocked right before the three archviles, that was frustrating. No option to load the last checkpoint either, so I was really done with Eternal on that day, lol

Alright, immora slaughter map has 2 of them, I think both versions of CBT atlantica has 1 close to the end, Delta's world spear ML has 0-2 of them depending on how quickly you kill the archviles, unbalanced tormented earth has 2 at the end and 1 I think if you choose not to destroy the totems that possesses enemies and unbalanced unreclaimed earth has 2 in the second to last encounter (idk about balanaced since I haven't played that one)
But why would you want to face possessed archviles?

The doom eternal slayer Figma figure’s hands suck they don’t grab anything tightly and the equipment falls out of his hands
the archviles main weaknesses is that you can stop him from summoning if you break his shield ( which falters him ), and the fact that he has a decently low health pool, meaning once you find him you can stop him before he’s able to do anything
but when breaking his shield doesn’t trigger the falter he doesn’t stop summoning ( don’t quote me on this I don’t mess with that too often ), meaning he effectively becomes a teleporting buff totem with a lot of health
Konvaz' TAG2 Rework also has one on Immora's second Escalation Encounter
Yeah, and that is really annoying especially when paired with other enemies and his pretty decent attacks
I kinda wish they were more threatening straight on. Maybe remove the buff effect in turn

I think in general the new doom formula struggles with making enemies as impactful as in the old games. You're so much more powerful in these games and resources are much less of an issue, you can take out pretty much any individual enemy in seconds if you focus on it, and any one particular new guy is never really a significant threat to the situation. Unless you do something particularly out of the ordinary with them like the Marauder.
Compare with classic doom where a single archvile or cyberdemon showing up during a fight could really be an oh fuck kind of moment.
The fact you can basically move in any direction you want now instead of essentially a 2d plane also changes a whole lot, of course lol
I use every ML skin that I have except for plasma rifle, not to brag but because I genuinely think it's the best skins I have
The gold skins from the dlcs are better imo

There is a preator suite upgrade that reduces the time
ironically it’ll end up feeling slower with a mod like that because even though bring up and bring down would be faster, it wouldn’t change the delay after you fire a weapon, making it FEEL slower, and not have much of a change anyways

basically if you miss a weapon it reappears in the next level, for two levels at least ( only weapon I’ve skipped and done a playthrough without is the chaingun ) and then it just kinda stops appearing

yes it being directly on the way is why it’s skipped in SGN in speedruns
also even if it weren’t a timeloss it’s still a risky thing to do because campaign speedruns are played on earlier versions when trying to be most optimal, dread knight pre 6.0 had a glitch where his ground slam dealt 3-4x damage

Best thing to do is move around until you have a proper ssg shot and keep ssg+ballista and deal with the dogs if the splash doesnt restun
Well I took out a possessed marauder that way without losing any extra lives so you'll be fine on a normal marauder
i just said i didnt have them

It's because of the damage resistance he gets when Possessed, his Faltering system depends on how much damage you can deal in a single shot and the damage res makes a PB shot no longer enough to hit that threshold
