Make it the heavy cannon in specific to start, preferred if you use precision bolt, but once you get the hang of it you can use almost any weapon to start aside from combat shotgun, ssg, and ballista

Ammo placement on a map is def more apart of good level design. Limited ammo makes a player desperate and be controlled and fight for control.

If u have infinite ammo thats fine because u designed the game in a way. But a game like doom for example makes sense to have limited ammo as every weapon should definitely have some sort of attention for every one of them than just situational convenience

Eternal’s weapon mods arnt perfection as i find stuff like the Chaingun absolutely useless especially the fact it shares with the Assault cannon and micro missiles are a better option later game.

Thing is if you limit ammo and it's all on the ground, there is no skill at all behind it. You either memorize the ammo placement on the ground or you're fucked because you dont know yet which isnt really skill, it's rememberance.
If you give out near practical infinite ammo.... why even have ammo? It already is pretty much infinite so there is no point in having it as a mechanic

The ammo on the floor dictate your positioning and the obstacle that blocks your ability be in those positions are the demons.

Well thats the choice ur making. Ur choosing encounters. For the 7 years ive played halo and the amount of times ive had to save a sniper round or a rocket because i didnt know what was up next in of itself the first time made a more tactical approach and put in more awareness to whats around me.

Then when i beat the level i understood where everything was and find more effective ways to overcome that level.

if the map is designed in a way that the player can move around and scout the area while avoiding attacks from demons then id say thats good map design

A bad map design is if i get snipes by a 1 shot enemy before i can turn the corner

a bad map design is when the map doesnt have good weapon placement

A bad map design is when a player cant meet their needs by given time the first time and scout the area.

If the player is not given the chance to adapt then ofc it is bad game design

Yet u look at any other game before Eternal using a chainsaw to get ammo. Why are they successful? What is good level design? Its when the level gives the player Time to study their surroundings. EXPLORATION IS IMPORTANT

This isnt much different to playing Multiplayer too.

Eternal doesnt suffer from horrible level design, u see every demon the maps are open totally fine, your whole arsenal can adapt to any demon and u remember their behaviors.

Compare this to a game like Halo CE where there is only 4 enemies. U’d think this would be a boring ass game i mean its less than even Doom yet it succeeds because of Adaptive level design

Hell Quake throws in a new enemy once in a while but u are fighting the same enemies most of the time in an episode too. And my issue with Quake is i did run out of ammo cause the level design is 10x different than Eternal ever was. Its not linear or predictable but only worked cause it gave me a health pack every 10 feet.

Map Knowledge is a skill. A small skill ceiling but a skill nonetheless. You took the same amount of time and effort learning enemy behaviors as u do with maps u just have different approaches to it. If good map design isnt needed then why have a map in the first place, why cant we have games where a character just walks through a hallway, why not just stop constantly fighting for high ground positions in my games? **because its not engaging just as bulletsponges in enemies arnt engaging. **

its almost like home advantage in a sport, You know how it goes and u know how to manipulate the encounters. Not everything should be given to u on a Silver plate, u can adapt but not everything should be first try, especially with a game like doom eternal that strives for such Difficulty

There surely have to be some tactics
The thought of completing the whole campaign on nightmare difficulty which my PC can barely take WITHOUT a single death is just incomprehensible to me

I consider myself somewhat advanced, I'd say I'm an ultra violence to nightmare if I fully focus player

Okay Nightmare normally. And try to memorize level layout and enemy spawns (it’s honestly easier to remember important enemy spawns then it sounds). Next to weapon combos movement is your best friend so also make Air Control the first rune you get.

"Buffs to Marauder (most of these are just patches tbh)":

• Marauders no longer can be staggered by shooting them from behind
• Can no longer be distracted with ice bomb

• Can be staggered on slopes rather than... well, not.
• Precision Bolt can stagger them if you have it mastered (previously you could only stagger Marauders with PB if it was NOT mastered)

Like I told you before, there is no 'DooM fans channel' description. This is not the altar of Doom fanatics giving sacrifices to the dev deities. I've seen other people complain about various things about the games as well. They usually get attacked. This is not the unaltered Doom club even if you want to make it look like it. One of the reason why I joined the channel is to help me mod the game so to gather info. And second to let devs know if it is possible that they did not create such a great gameplay experience with the newest games. Whatever you feel is not my concern. Gameplay is bad because it got simplified even compared to older Doom games. Many things I pointed out as bad gameplay design because in my view this is how it is. I mentioned many times that technologically speaking the game is good pointing good design, nice weapons and so. I always explained what I see as bad and why. I gave arguments not 'sh1ting on the game". If you feel uneasy when you hear bad words about the game then this is your mental problem. My argument with Gaozaru came after I realized that he seem in a holy mission to hunt down the infidel. Which to me look like lack of character. Like someone wise once said discuss things not people. Instead trying to clamp down on dissent you should detach yourselves from the games and realize that there are more important things in life than these silly things. Because every bad decision you make here will stay with you and model you in a bad ways. You should simply not care about criticism or debate it in a civilized manner. Having someone who did buy the game take on the game does not equal taking on you. And talking ugly to someone might trigger same kind of response, Gaozaru, does it not? Also @stiff axle I saw your DM. Regardless of difficulty if you die enough the game will offer you Sentinel Armor which will reduce damage you receive. I wouldn’t recommend it but it’s better then getting someone else to beat it for you.

Becouse when you unlock the mastery for destroyer blade it gets cut up in 3 sections and depending on how long you have it charged it can have different sizes and damage outputs

If it helps, I was stuck on the Khan Makyr for several minutes. But then I remembered that the Sentinel Armor would make the battle easier and intentionally allowed her to kill me one last time.

Then I activated the Sentinel Armor and unleashed Hell on her power source in the same way she unleashed Hell on Earth.

To be fair, I doubt youtube has "all advice ever". There's a lot of nuanced mechanics in the game that I doubt most people know specifically (they may have a vague understanding, but never really looked into it).

For instance, having any amount of armor above 5 (potentially any amount? It's been forever since even i checked the specifics) will prevent you from getting killed in a 'single shot'. So if you constantly use the Super Shotgun mastery to refill your armor even just a little, you can never "die", more or less. I am exaggerating a little there but, things like that can help immensely.

The easiest way to fight Khan Maykr for anyone would be
Use Air Control + Chrono Strike
Stay mostly on the jump pads so you never have to worry about the ground AOE
Use Lock-On-Burst (3 bursts max) on Khan Maykr
Blood Punch Khan Maykr
Headshot Maykr Drone
Rinse/Repeat

In particular, Maykr Drones give both the ammo and ALL your health back. And with Chrono Strike, you don't need to be good at aiming

you can take as much time as you need

Or if you have bottomless missiles for the heavy cannon, I use those on the shield and ballista for the drones
