One thing on the whole beginner topic: when I first got doom (2016) I had no experience whatsoever with fps games, so I played on hurt me plenty, got frustrated but powered through, then played doom eternal on ultra violence, then on nightmare. Each rise in difficulty forced me to learn to be more optimal and learn better techniques in a constructive way

Yea I've played on nightmare since I finished the base campaign on HMP. I started TAG1 on UV but then I realized I could ramp me up to the difficulty much faster

What I found is that while the main campaign is difficult in the beginning and does have its hard moments later on, Master Levels will really make you clean up your act and think much faster

From my personal experience outside of the super expensive ones most third party controllers don’t have the best build quality.

Not to say most modern controllers have good build quality to begin with (they generally don’t like most hardware these days) but cheaper third party ones (like power A) are generally worse.

Yea but it’s dpad is extremely prone to misinputs, the poorly thought out sharp edge around the stick will damage it over time, and the stick will wear over time and it will become hard to for example do a simple 360° motion with the stick or even press in the stick.

I’m curious though do you have a PS1 controller with or without sticks? Maybe it was PS2 controllers that sometimes didn’t have sticks though I don’t remember.

Why an old PS1 controller? It has good build quality but pre-PS4 Playstation controllers weren’t exactly the most comfortable, at least in my experience with the PS2/3 controllers.

My personal favorite controller is the 360 controller the dpad isn’t the best but it at least doesn’t misinput in my experience.

I think that other consoles don't have gyro aim because there isn't a demand for it. Most I've talked to prefer not to use it.

I haven’t touched that game I just know a few things about it.

I wonder is 3 good. I’ve heard it’s creepier like 64 but also a lot more boring and dull looking. Though the creature designs are much more Lovecraftian which is cool.

Yea the hell portion seem to be the best and most inspired part of the game, the facility however looks almost as boring as the 2016 interiors if not more so.

It seems like that game would be better if most of it was in hell.

the game was pretty much a tech demo for the id tech engine

It was designed around metallic surfaces and lighting and as such those dark areas look really good and hold up well

And it’s the games biggest fault

many of the areas look the same for 60 percent of the game

You can abuse doorways. The most op weapon in any shooter.

You don’t need to be accurate in doom because the game literally aims for you due to its nature

You also have the benefit of analog movement

for a game like doom 1993 I could see it as a valid way to play

The one issue with that is worse strafing. But overall it’s nice to move in more than 8 directions.

Can confirm bloodmaykrs prenerf and the 1st tag 1 boss even postnerf are a pain. Don’t even get me started on the reduced ssg spread makes up close enemies hella annoying.

I honestly think chrono exists to make the game fair on consoles.

I played halo 1 legendary on pc once and it felt like easy mode, the difference is insane. I could headshot the enemies easier than I could shoot them normally on console.
