I have made a item called "gasmask" gasmask sends you to another part of the map, out of the normal play area. With the gasmask on, your not aloud to swap weapons until your right click to teleport back to where you were (it remembers your position in this new area, and where you teleported from) that is for one exception, a weapon called "bloodshotgun" this weapon damages you for 25 damage, and shoots more pellets than the normal shotgun. This weapon is compatable with the mask, and can be fired and used in the other playspace.

all you would have to do for the map is place down a "TeleportMask" actor (where the mask sends you when used), put down a bloodshotgun somewhere, and of course the mask, and its all set. No weird TID or anything at all
To teleport back to the previous area, you simply right click

I wanna talk about my experience with Doom RPG mod and DoomRLA. It was painful to get working because I'm less skillful with computer stuff. I got it to work and was confused about the HUD and UI. There's no tutorial so I had to figure things out. I went into the level select hub and saw three types of maps. Single maps, normal maps, and slaughter maps. I went into single maps because the text is blue and I thought that meant they were easy maps.
I loaded into the first map and the frame rate was unusually low for a Doom game. I thought the mod was broken so I quit out.
A couple weeks later, I try it again, this time trying the normal maps. I noticed that the first set of maps is the Doom 2 campaign. Played a couple levels and things went smoothly, got a bit of a grasp on the new mechanics.
That's when I tried the single map again, this time the framerate was slightly better, but there were a ton of monsters coming through one door. That's when I pressed tab to look at the map (I was playing the scout class so I can already see what the map looks like.)
I said out loud "OH MY GOD IT'S HUGE! No wonder it's lagging so badly!" So it turns out that single maps meant one HUGE level and I thought it was one small level. Which I personally think is a bit of a bad design because it should just say "HUGE maps" with red text or something.
So yeah, that was my adventure for the day.
Long story short, I underestimated the size of a map.

but you will have awful lag on slaughter maps
pb is already pretty unoptimized (complex doom runs like butter in comparison, you have no excuse 🤭) and pairing it with maps that have high enemy counts is a recipe for 3 fps

im trying to get brutal doom (i use doom 2) and everybody i watch (also use doom 2) just drag and drop brutal doom into the gzdoom executioner but when i try that it is just normal doom 2
and i tried with the music pack version and the updated music played but everything else was the same
try gzdoom -iwad DOOM2.WAD -file [name of brutal doom pk3] in the command line
Maybe try the doom explorer launcher?
I hate GZDoom but I had to try it out.
All I can say is that's it's absolute madness and it's a blast to play.

Unfortunately, this will replace the first 11 maps skyboxes, not just the first one. But, if thats not an issue, then here just a basic solution.
- In the DOOM 2 IWAD, find the texture RSKY3.
- In your own WAD, import the graphic from RSKY3 but rename it to RSKY1.
- Add the texture into your own WAD (I assume you know how to add graphics and textures)
It was time to test what Heavensever was like in pitched battle, and also I was overdue on playing the Hexen iWad again, so here's both at once (in Hub 3, The Seminary).
Walpurgis 0.99 is due out on the 31st of January!
After the Dryad preview last week we also needed a Heavensever combat test, and here it is, with me deciding it was probably time to do another playthrough of the Base Hexen iwad. Here specifically is the first half of Hub 3, the Seminary, where we get plenty of opportunity to show how generally versatile Heavensever is!

you can easily use a package manager like apt to get chocolate doom (mind you it'll also install strife and hexan, plus freedoom)
if you're talking about the linux-doom source code on GitHub. Can't help you there, plus there's a ton of fixing you'd need to do

default settings are wack, no colored blood, movement is incredibly off, the fact everything is smoothed out (not texture filtering, btw. DSDA-Doom does the same thing at higher resolutions), lighting just seems off

colored blood imo should be a separate mod, default settings do indeed suck (texture filtering on by default because graf's personal preference) made even worse by the hairpulling menu layout, lighting can be set to match vanilla under hardware renderer in graphics options, and the particles are set to smooth by default (blurry, i recommend changing them to square or round)
i think it's the "smooth" option by default because of glquake

you have a dropdown when you edit a face and there you can choose to scroll the texture im pretty sure

for linedefs theres line action 48 in vanilla scroll texture left and many more in boom , it only scrolls the front side of the linedef so they have to be oriented correctly
scrolling flats is in boom , you need to give a line a scroll action and connect it with tags to the needed sectors

How do i make a level exit on ultimate doom builder? I want to make a exit that makes you jump into a pit on the floor to exit the level but i have no idea on how to do that
You’d want a W1 Exit Level linedef special

Please note I use DBX, so it may be inaccurate. Also note I very much suck at dumbing things down so I’m wording this as if you knew how to do most of it:
- Make sure the pegs on all lines around the exit are facing outwards
- Multiselect all of those lines and then double right click on one of them
- Set the linedef special to 52 in the menu that appeared

If your laptop is older than when that generation came out then it’ll most likely be different

pk3s to be fair are just straight up zip files so if those are the type of mod type you’re using you could just throw the files from all of your mods into a single zip and rename it to a pk3

I had a similiar problem. Is it possible that you have sectors next to the door (Like the area the arrow is pointing to) I got rid of it and my door started working.
make sure the lines are pointing outwards, that the ceiling height isn't under the floor and that the door is set to be triggered by the use key

so I did learn how to merge my doom maps together into a full episode. now this might be a dumb question. But is there a way to get my episode to show up in the main game?

I think all Romero did was make the episode number past 4 and use a source port that could natively support it (although you’ll need to make the Episode title most likely, something I can’t help with)
You could technically use the WAD as a base to easily get that 5/6th episode slot, although I don’t advise this as I got no clue what license either Sigil uses and moving the maps over might be a pain
If you were just talking about replacing an episode, just load the WAD with the -file [file] parameter

Hey guys. Newb question. But I'm just getting into playing doom WADS. Which ones should I download first? I've heard great things about Sunlust and Alien Vendetta and Scythe.
I've converted from being a console player so I've played the maps from Final Doom that came with the versions of Doom and Doom 2 on Xbox One such as Plutonia and TNT. As well as the other add-ons like Deathless, No End in Sight, both Sigils, and basically all the other ones that came with the downloads except for Harmony (tried it and didn't like it much)
yeah those three are good. i can also recommend Revilution and Overboard
despite my personal experience with map08, I can recommend Tangerine Nightmare. 10 maps (8 normal, 1 credit, and 1 bonus). Gives a a pretty fair challenge overall
I will mention WADs like Overboard need a sourceport that can run Boom maps (PrBoom+, Woof, DSDA-DOOM, etc.), just an fyi

DSC final pack is packed with GZDoom 4.10.0. OpenGL has the animated grass zooming in and out instead of waving. OpenGL ES has the grass/foliage stationary, which is at least better than the zooming.

Yea, Speed of Doom wasn't really built for zdoom, most wads are made with source ports without advanced movement in mind, you can turn it off if it feels weird, I'd even recommend it, as well

Can anyone help with this? For some reason every time I launch Zandronum it keeps opening on the wrong monitor. It keeps opening on the left monitor instead of the middle monitor. The main reason why I don't wanna ignore it is because it has a better dodge system than brutal doom and I do love my dodging, only thing is I don't know whether or not there are still the hitscan enemies in project brutality or if they changed them into projectile enemies like in brutal doom does anybody know before I stop my BD run to go to PB?

Does anyone know why this is happening? I cant load any wads apart from Doom 2 and Ultimate Doom, it works if i just drag and drop it like you normally would though.

You’re loading a PWAD as an IWAD
You need to put SIGIL as a PWAD
Not sure how the Doom64 one works, though

Has there ever been a doom wad where the creator "rebuilt" their dreams?
Lately, I've been having some pretty wild/weird dreams (precognitive at times), so I thought about "reconstructing" the exact dream as a doom wad
I don't know shit about modding, so maybe around June, I'll probably start learning about doom modding
You don't need a lot of modding knowledge to create maps
Unless you want your maps to have gimmicks or custom enemies, you can do everything through Doom Builder easily

I figured out how to make weapons follow the player using monster ai lol

whatever works works and you can just use the ai as a base anyway
but like, go to community textures first and look for something there
i mean, how would anyone know if you never told them, and you edited them slightly manually so they loop properly
plus who cares, a texture is a texture, it serves its purpose either way

lemons are an amalgamation created by humans
where would you use this ai specifically? tiles? monster designs? because ai tends to use stable diffusion or whatever the thing is, which takes from actual artists that make the original textures... which on its own is morally wrong but can also lead to legal issues and stuff

but raw AI art isn't gonna get you far textures wise
im kind of biased because im in a position where i can draw my own textures

I tried to make them in the same general style as Doom, albeit more realistic, but still with a semi-pixelated look. Does this look any good to you? The goal is to have an entire texture pack.

like "create an x resolution sci-fi style floor that tiles seamlessly"
No, my method is a bit more complex. I wanted what's basically more 'realistic' versions of the original Doom textures but in the same or similar style, and this required multiple different steps. Step 1 was creating a custom GPT for chatgpt4 with specific instructions on how to write the prompt; I'd post the original Doom texture that's used as inspiration, and it would then create a fairly detailed yet concise description of it (the general concept, the materials/colors used, etc). I'd then use that prompt for Midjourney whilst combining it with the sref parameter (this lets Midjourney see what the original texture looks like so it can use a similar style) and also the tile parameter, and then I'd tell it to produce like 50 images and then I'd pick the best version (or several, in case I like more than one output). I then load the textures into Affinity photo and downscale them to Doom's resolution. This is how I made the doors and floot tile in the screenshot above. Obviously this is easier than creating an entire texture completely from scratch, but there is still considerably more effort involved than just typing "make me a Doom door texture".
Tbh I laugh when people say making AI textures only takes a simple prompt. No it doesn't. Or at least it doesn't if you want actually specific results.

I went to the terminal and put gzdoom -brutal
And it launched gzdoom and I picked my wad and yeah no brutal
you need to type in gzdoom -file [path of the brutal doom pk3 file]
there is still a path to it
best bet is to put it inside the gzdoom folder and invoke it's name instead
I have a gzdoom folder???
