What's giving you trouble? If you play aggressively they're super easy

Shield charge into them, throw the shield immediately after and then blast them with the SSG once. I think that puts the standard variants into glory kill state immediately

fine tuning lighting and GEO makes it sound as if they're like 70% done? correct me if im wrong but i've not heard of any progress with cutscenes or enemy designs and placement, i have zero idea on how modern id software does their work, or in what they prioritize in production but i think it's a safe guess to say 70% complete

I just realized how many weapons there are in TDA

with original id software (thanks to the book "Masters of DOOM") we can clearly imagine and visualize their work ethic and priorities based on quotes and testimony from the people who worked on it back then, statements from John Carmack suggest that work on og DOOM was fairly simple and quick, same with DOOM II, and then they wanted to make Quake and that's when things started turning sour during that game's production

for added context: Quake wasn't originally going to be a "3D DOOM" it was gonna be a fantasy game with dungeons and dragons type stuff and the works, Carmack eventually saw how difficult it was to get the game out, first attempt to quell the fans was the famous "it's done when it's done" message, eventually leading to OG id software scrapping the original idea, which John Romero wasn't a fan of that, which led to Quake being what it was

i really recommend finding a copy of Masters of DOOM, it really does enlighten you on how things were for game devs back then

In the Art of Doom Eternal, when talking about Erebus and the Soul factories, it mentioned the “Spire Cities of Dis,” where the Tower of Babel was. (Spire Cities referring to Soul Spire Cities). This could be hinting at the The city of Nekroval being one of multiple spire cities, which is what Hugo’s words in this stream remind me of 🤔 Maybe we’ll learn more about Dis in the dlc, considering the Babel connection is already drawn from both the Tower and the Tyrant codex from Eternal

I do hope that the DLC doesn't do the whole "a company of Night Sentinels learned of the Khan Maykr's true dealings with the callous beasts" thing since (as far as we can tell) Argent Energy doesn't even exist in TDA

We know that the Khan will be in the DLC, so seeing the very beginning of her deal and discovering early-stage Soul Factories would 100% work

Just can't jump into the deep end of the pool yet. Plot needs more time to develop, a time skip between the TDA dlc and the game's sequel would be ideal imo

Honestly? I have no idea how that actually works. As far as I can tell Argent energy isn't in TDA in any capacity. Everything is powered by Sentinel energy, including weapons like Novik's axe

I think both eternal and TDA spoiled me too much.
I tried going back to doom 2016 and it felt the weakest in gameplay wise compared to eternal and TDA, especially the early levels where you only run around with basic shotgun and rifle.
Still good game though

It feels very awkward playing 2016 when I am so used to the gun feel and weight behind it of eternal and TDA.
And ssg definitely feels off to me after experiencing powerhouse of eternal's and TDA's ssgs.

Doom 2016 nails the atmosphere but yeah generally so is it weaker than TDA and Eternal gameplay wise. Mostly because it doesn't have much that makes it stand out. It's just, a doom game... and das kinda it

Atmosphere has not been the main focus for me tbh I mostly like the level design of doom games. Eternal's levels are still one of my favorite looking levels in all of gaming. Urdak, nekravol, etc all look very good in a holy shit which environmental designer went ballistic here.

So I enjoyed more of hell levels of doom 2016, entire cluster fuck of different locations of eternal and TDA.
I am gonna be honest, the mars base of 2016 might be my least favorite locations in doom series. It is sci-fi and follows the root of doom yes, but it is bland imo

Has this been patched yet, or is it possible to use a different 100%'d save with the Essences unlocked to get the achievements? All of my chapters say 100% complete, but it still didn't pop. Thanks.

I just got it to pop. So I got it on Chapter 17 at the second Ammo Essence. It said I had 100%'d the chapter in the main menu and when I pulled up the minimap, it said I had 2/2. I killed the second one and it popped.

Personally I felt the longer cutscenes and more fleshed out world / side characters was really nice

2016 having very minimal stuff worked pretty good.

Eternal rushed a ton of the story out and felt like we were missing a lot of context at times

Dark ages fleshed a ton out and introduced a ton. And I think is “personally” the ideal doom story amount / format to make the world feel more alive

I also do think because of the time frame ( with the sentinels) it helped and made sense to flesh it out more

In Dark Ages, our villain stands out as intellectual and tactical mastermind. Knowing to avoid the Slayer, and combine the might of Hell and the Cosmic Realm (the Wraith within Thira, upon the Witch’s realization) to then face him.

The Sentinel People are a lot like us, but far more advanced, a warrior culture, and Novik, Thira and Valen stand out.

Doomguy himself is not only badass, but he speaks loud as hell with his actions, gentle and violent. His relationship with Serrat is also a highlight for me (throwing flesh to Serrat as food for our good drago).
