I don't know the wider community stance on this, but I truly feel Dark Ages did not need a sprint and hope this feature does NOT return in future Doom games. Very very rarely did I ever not sprint in this game

Obviously some slipperiness is there at the high speeds and you don't always want that, but I never ever felt in the previous games that was an issue, plus I still don't feel like the sprint is particularly speedy for these larger levels

which gives you the option to either have a sprint button or to not have one, so this is a fairly moot point

it's like doom 2016 having a walk button
it's not necessary, but if you don't like it you just bind it to some key on the other side of the keyboard and move on with the game

I beat TDA on hurt me plenty, but then rebeat it on nightmare quite easily, I think its from all the years I played Doom 2016 and Eternal, so what i recommend is beating Doom Eternal (preferably the ancient gods) So you could level up your skill, it worked out amazingly when i did it.

instead of adjusting sliders since that may not be the advice youre looking for, the game just plays differently from the other two. you need to have a different mindset while playing especially when it comes to the fodder. in eternal especially you generally will ignore fodder and use them as ammo/armor and go for heavies immedietly but in tda the fodder is unironically the most threatening thing in any arena since theres just SO much more of it and the projectiles they spam can be very oppressive. a lot of times you need to deal with fodder first and then go for the heavies after

restacking is also different in this game since its hard to get armor. but your burst damage with the guns, shield, and melee make it so youre just dealing insane damage quickly

so if youre trying to treat it like eternal with using the flail and combat shotgun to get armor stacks youre better off just trying to deal more damage instead since the armor those things give are very minimal

I can't remember who said it but I saw a video speculating it could be the dark claw, a weapon cut from Doom 1 I believe? I could see that being the case because Hugo mentioned something about copy right issues (I know other franchises have something called dark claw but I can't remember which one) plus there's also concept art of the slayer having a red gauntlet

I can't get over how good the weapons are in this game, they're comically powerful but still balanced in a way that's honestly pretty perplexing. I love that the altfires are triggered by blocking attacks so you can't just cheese everything with lock-on or stun bomb whenever you want, as in you actually have to engage if you want the guns to be more effective, which makes perfect sense.

Also appreciate them getting rid of the unnecessary 'activate mod' key the last two games had. If full auto and triple burst in the last two games had been permanent upgrades you activated by just holding down M1 they would've been used so much more often.

Here's some speculation/theorizing I have about The Wretch in the DLC:
I think that the Slayer will find The Wretch in a small hut in a cave or somewhere in Hell (like that cold area that was teased a while ago.) The Slayer obviously acts aggressive towards him, and is about to kill him, but the Wretch pleads with the Slayer to spare his life, and in return, helping the Slayer in his mission to kill the High Council/Order of the Six. The Slayer would still keep his guard up around the Wretch regardless. In that level, we would have to go on a fetch quest and find ingredients or some kind of ore and/or material which the Slayer takes back to the Wretch. We would then witness a cutscene in which the Wretch forges what would become the Praetor suit. (Taking that "Armor" hint Hugo gave into consideration)

This is all assuming the we encounter the Wretch of course.
