It's not clear. The confirmed canon is the mainline series - Doom 1, 2, 64, 3, 2016, Eternal, and TDA. All the other stuff is in a flux.

It might be canon, might not. The Doom RPGs connect to Doom 3, but Doom 3 is already its own thing and is only really canon as a side-game unrelated to the Slayer. So it's not clear how much the developers of the modern games really give a shit about it.

TIPS:

• I recommend you use Ground Fissure, Heaven Splitter, Power Gauntlets, Mace, SSG, Impaler, and Cooked Rocket Launcher, and combinations thereof. These weapons will make your life a whole lot easier.
• Turn off slow-mo, I promise it helps.
• When getting crowded by demons, spam tap the shield block. You'll be able to deflect some parryables and maybe activate your shield rune, giving you an escape.
• Make use of the space in the arena.
• Use the early rounds to farm health and melee strike for ammo as much as possible, and save the pick-ups for later rounds.
• In Round V, circle-strafe like it's 1993 again so the demons herd themselves together and you can make maximum use out of the BFC. Don't feel like you're cheesing the fight by using the BFC, Round V is nearly impossible without it. Every other round can be completed without using the BFC, but they are tough.
• Keep an eye on the time; you should be able to finish each round in about 2, at most 2.5-3 minutes.
• Don't be discouraged if you keep dying. It's part of the learning process and you will inevitably get better with practice.

I really like the combination of Vagaries, Mortar Mancubus, and Arachnotrons. Combining the slowing effects of the Vagary vomit and Mancubus sludge with the precision accuracy of the Arachnotrons is fantastic combat design. I managed to finish with 5 minutes left on the timer, so I reckon you could either make some rounds more challenging with a combination of even harder hitting enemies or limit the timer to 8 or 10 minutes

I originally had the timer at ten minutes but thought that might be too tight since the vagary/vagary champion encounter can be a bit of a slog if you don't get some good damage in before killing everything else. Tbf, first couple levels of the classics start off slow. TNT and Plutonia are extensions of the base game, so they’re already gonna start off a bit more complex.

Theres a cooldown on shield rune reactivation when u switch them, and for melee it resets the uses

I think my only complaint is that there’s no sound cue to let know what rune/melee you’ve swapped to. It could be helpful in particularly intense battles so your focus doesn’t have to be diverted away from the combat
