What I mean is that composers usually need a sort of idea to base their songs on. They said that they even played the levels in the campaign before composing and since I don't think the dlc is rather done yet, they would need some idea or theme to base their ost on. This also takes into account community feedback, but I'm also removing it bc they would've had 10 months at this point to improve

There is safety in familiarity, but reward to be found in risk. I think id Software knows that very well
New risks are good. The glory kill system they added in Doom 2016 was a pretty big risk im pretty sure, and that ended up being one of the best things they ever added to the new games

I don't think this reaction would have been as severe had they not botched the mixing and default settings at launch. Plus a horrendous bug where the music wouldn't play until you reloaded a checkpoint/died.

Who am I kidding though. I think most of the negative reactions were because of the Mick situation affecting people's judgment. Lots of people were going into it with a bad mindset, partly because it wasn't Mick, but partly because they didnt wanna support bad business practices. I don't totally blame them, but why buy the game at that point?
Also, a not insignificant number of people who like Doom and Doom's OSTs also despise metal. It's kinda surprising.

I beat Pandemonium recently and that was like, my eight 100% run by now; I can't shake the feeling that people like me who played at launch essentially played the beta.

I got 2 of my friends who are both metalheads to play the modern trilogy (one quit eternal early on cuz he didnt like it but anyway) and they both said that the dark ages ost was by far their favourite

Does damage, slows you down, and its incredibly hard to see how spread out the acid is on the ground
Doom eternal had similar splash type attacks but they always glowed brightly so you easily see the parts of the ground you should avoid
that's what makes it interesting tho. the fact that if you get too close then you can get really punished from the acid. makes you have to think more when fighting the vagary. can't just brute force your way through it without taking serious damage

Dunno about that, hes spat acid on me even when i keep my distance. It almost feels like we have to get close to him anyways but occasionally he'll be followed by other demons helping him

he spits it regardless of where you are but it doesn't go that far. it's like an obstacle in your way and you gotta find a way around it. either shooting him from afar, jumping over it, going around or anything like that
honestly the one thing that really made it difficult for me was the respawning mancubi
they nerfed them now. only like one of them there now
I had the most trouble in the one encounter inside cthulus tummy, he had a mancubus and an armored aracnotron following him that particular time

Yeah, i can deal with the acid being hard to spot and doing damage, but the fact that it slows you down itoo is just dumb
Well even if you are paying attention, the acid is still pretty accurate at landing where you are regardless of whether your moving or not, at least from my experience
Not to mention again, you have to worry about the other demons helping him, the mancubus in particular also shooting the same acid attack
it doesn't bother me. if it lands directly at me then i move away from it and stay from it spamming it with shots. think the only time i notice the acid is when i'm too reckless and it ruins my movement and puts me in a bad spot
Well again i have no problem with reacting to the acid, its just the fact that it slows you down that bothers me most. I kinda think any sort of move that slows you down is detrimental to the combat of the game
Death should be your own fault for not being able to move or to dodge efficiently, but a near unavoidable attack that, while doesnt kill you, slows you down is just kinda bleh

"Eternal" made it clear that they were the order of the deag corrupted from Hell's influence, but "the dark ages" treat them as a hellborn-like entity that served Hell's high council.
I think it's probable that the original generation of hell priests were wiped out by John Doom and the Deag ones filled the void left behind by them
these are different priests
deags are not influenced yet in dark ages probably
as there's a statues of them in aratum
some of the deag ones do appear in the dark ages so i suppose there were the og hell priests and then after the sentinel war the deag ones got corrupted
We see Loric but he seems to be isolated from the rest of the priests going by the codex

2016's environment has never been dark enough to obscure your vision, except for the very beginning of res ops where you were specifically supposed to turn on the lights

All three of the modern games have been so fucking cool, but I want a proper one where you just run and shoot

They feel like FPS fighting games or like DMC more than they do like Doom
it's got some extra mechanics but it's essentially a run n gun shooter
The thing keeping it from being that is the gore nests and other mandatory fights
Very much like DMC, get locked in a room and fight your way out
There are exceptions but I want one like classic doom where you CAN just run to the end of the level if you know what you're doing

The grenade launcher is really good against the vagary in a pinch, chainshot is fantastic against battle knights, ravager fills the same role as chaingun to a degree so go ham on super heavies with that. Besides that, just play the way you like, every gun is valid

I like them more after TDA
I'd say the 2018 UI/graphics are equal to the current in-game version for me. I like Eternal's very distinct arcade style but I also wouldn't mind if there was a little more tonal consistency between the three games
I'd kill to play the 2018 Mars Core demo
Part of the reason I've moved towards controller play is because Eternal didn't have a walk button on PC unless you bound it with console commands

I mean it's not like I'm speculating, Hugo himself said the game used to have 2016's style until it obscured your vision from seeing certain demons, like that "whiplash in the fog" example Hugo used
I play with a lot of mods that restore QC2018's visuals, and I have had cases where I can't see some of the enemies
But it's rare and it's counteracted by the enemies having identifiable silhouettes and very bright eyes
and then they introduce invisible whiplashes as a regular enemy type
You can see them in the dark at a glance both there and in 2016 with tricks that Doom 3 used

Hi, I play the dark ages on the ps5 and my game has gotten pretty buggy lately after playing the ripatorium update. Has anyone else gotten issues with save files that were played before that update now becoming buggy?
idk it may be something revolving about the balance changes and the game needing to redo the encounters r something
honestly i havent played my pre 2.0 save so idk
I cant open the map on the campaign save file I was playing before the update and when I press the dossier it actually is stuck on the ripatoriums display. Along with the pause menu being the ripatoriums as well. I was working on getting all the collectibles and noticed that even though I had collected both codex entries on spire of nerathul completion was at 99% with 1/2 codex entries collected. But I have them both I can view them within the codex entries but they aren’t marked as collected. Yesterday I was able to view the map fine but I opened the game about 20 minutes ago and now can’t view the map
oh that is weird
I only had a few more levels to get to 100% and now I can’t even veiw the map. Creating a new save is having the game work as normal but I’d rather not relplay the entire game again when I only needed to get like four things to get the save file I was on to 100% completion.
Oh I can’t even view my codex entries at all anymore because that option doesn’t appear in the ripatoriums dossier, which my campaign is stuck on. Good lord. It’s so weird the map was working last night I played for a solid hour at least. Turned my game on tonight and now it’s stuck like that

I think it did a really poor job at conveying the slayers rage in that scene for sure. He sees his dragon dead on the ground and does a really mean glare at azhrak and that's kind of it. I dunno

The dlc should have the nekravol discovery be the ending perhaps and that's what kicks off the civil war. Dark ages has already laid the foundation for the sentinels beginning to question the maykrs so I hope that means things start getting interesting and tensions begin brewing

I was dissapointed with the melee weapons we got
Power gauntlet was just a normal punching machine with electric shit, Flail is the most badass weapon but it doesn't do any damage. Dreadmace is the strongest but is literally just a spiked club

since we don't really have any equipment in tda (if u dont count shield runes)

I love the synergy that the dark ages gives. Yes, it can be built upon, but I just love how much they already is. For example, the cycler and the power gauntlet go really good together because of Jolt, shock and overload. I like how they feed into each other.

And it showed up on tablets from Mars in "the human realm" (but then again I guess that's kind of a stretch because it could be possible that the tablets that were in Samuel Hayden's room with the sentinel and slayer statues depicting the crucible. They could also originate from some portal that was found on Mars. But like I said, it could be a stretch.)

For me, it happens when I try to go into quick swap mode from a shield bash(every once in a while)
And also a cool thing thats happening with new bug of the base game getting mix with the RIPATORIUM is that you can change the song of the level you are replaying until you get softblock

Maybe the primary fire would be something like the microwave beam but with a physical chain instead. And then because you can't have your shield up during it. The option for throwing your shield and blocking would be replaced by pulling the enemy towards you or pulling yourself towards the enemy. Yk?

And I supposed to upgrades would be. Armour piercing jump canceling, and then like a greater shockwave from slamming into your enemy or Ground from a jump cancel
I would like a more emphasis in melee combat
maybe new animations between hits or maybe perform different combos by moving the joystick or pressing a button or hold the melee
And maybe unique glorykill animation with the different melee weapons from above

It's either like that or you make it an alternative for the shield. Like instead of having a shield, you get a meat hook. (But that comes with a whole slew of upgrades.)
No it's still like that, your shield goes down when you use the meathook
Otherwise it's overpowered
like you don't get rid of the shield entirely, but you have the option for an alternative. Like instead of throwing your shield or doing a shield bash. You get a hook. Of course they would have to buff. The shield bash to a UNFATHOMABLE degree to keep it viable.
Like make it so that the shield bash recovers may lay faster and gives you ammo faster. Or just something else entirely. Make it a sacrificial choice to choose between a hook option or a shield bash option.
But yeah I'd love some giant demon humanoids

I like to use super shotgun out of all of the weapons, but the thing is....
if you're gonna UPGRADE
Then you should focus on the other two because they have special abilities and stuff like that.

With the melee that reloads your ammo

like the super shotgun does a ridiculous amount of damage. A cooked rocket is like a tiny "B F C" shot. (tiny, but if it's comparable to the BFC. It HAS to do a lot of damage. And it does.) and your. Bowling ball is good for parry exchanges with armoured enemies in particular. Ex: armoured: manc, pinky rider, (pretty much any armoured enemy really).
But if you're going for damage. You should go upgrade the super shotgun or the rocket launcher. Because the rocket launcher can keep you alive after a you know because you have the self heal and all. (But if you wanna have fun just upgrade the super shotgun man😎)
because you can just rock the power gauntlet and then do. Melee, melee, ssg, melee, bash, ssg-implaer-ssg. ("-" means you're in Quickswitch mode. Which happens after a shield bash.)
And I'm gonna be honest with you I gotta put you on game. USE THE IMPALER. It's actually so good.

the reload upgrade of the ssg doesn't do a whole lot if you're shield swapping, but the armor damage upgrade is enormous
and the pellet upgrade is just a flat 15% damage increase
and, lest we forget, a point blank ssg shot with the wraithstone upgrade still deals as much damage as a cooked rocket
