Nightmare default is a 5/10

literally the shotgun shoots more pellets, so more damage
the combat shotgun now shoots 9 pellets instead of 7, and the ssg shoots 15 pellets instead of 13
so point blank damage with the ssg goes from 14300 to 16500

there was a slight one
occasionally if you were rocket dueling a cyber or a baron you could miss a parry even though you queued the input on time
I originally chalked it up to the explosion cloud obstructing my view slightly but I'm glad I wasn't imagining things
also one thing i havent seen many ppl talk about is the halo-ing effect especially around characters in cutscenes
it seems like it has been reduced a lot, saw that in that video and went in game to check myself and it looks alot better
that was like my one complaint about the cutscenes
I caught a lock during the mission in the city of Aratum, I can’t ram the door, restarting from the control point doesn’t help, do you have any ideas?

I noticed something on my fight with Ahzrak last night (during The Final Battle). It seems my Power Gauntlet third strike (kick), which I thought was a guaranteed Falter, didn’t Falter him. He used my fourth hit animation commitment to hit me with his point blank AoE several times. Has anyone else noticed this?

And a point blank ssg shot without the wraithstone upgrade deals 14.3k damage
How much does Salvage do?
salvage works differently, instead of buffing the direct damage of the projectile, it adds 1500-3000 splash damage to it
So it should deal between 11500-13000 damage with a headshot and 6500-8000 with a body shot
wow that's high, didn't know it was capable of that sort of damage output. if it's still the same then I'm definitely trying that out, thank you
I still think it's better than Chronospike by virtue of the DPS you can get out of it
It’s essentially just a free time slow plus a flat 20% damage increase with no drawbacks

I've done two Impaler focused runs out of my six playthroughs thus far, one with Salvage and one with Chronospike
The free slow mo was alright, the consistent long range damage was good as well, but I found myself really struggling against big guys like Cyberdemons
I like the raw speed of the impaler without the slowmo, but I'm willing to put that aside for a 20% damage buff
Whereas Salvage was slightly less consistent but more powerful, not to mention more engaging
yeah salvage does seem to have a higher average DPS in exchange for no slow mo
Although cyberdemons are kinda tricky to get headshots on when you’re up close just because you have to basically look straight up lmao

I didn't really try this as a test, but I did two Ripatorium runs with the Impaler (one Salvage, one Chronospike) against a wave of like every Hell Knight type? Including three respawning Barons
I flat out died using Chronospike but did it nearly damageless with Salvage
The splash damage is really useful
I love using the Power Gauntlet for this reason, it's so funny how you go flying straight up sometimes with it lmao

Yeah super shotgun is fixed. There was a bug for a while ever since the ripatorium was released where you couldn't block/parry when reloading the SSG. It's been patched now and is 100% confirmed fixed.

swim sprinting is in the works alongside the ability to swap melee/shield runes during combat. Ripatorium 2.0 was also sort of accidentally confirmed
saving and sharing Ripatorium loadouts is on the way

I just got to Siege 1 in my Pandemonium run and destroying Mancubi with it feels so rewarding
ngl I think TDA had a small missed opportunity to make the pistol relevant for the first time since Doom II
Like it would've been interesting to use the Shield Saw as a riot shield, even if it'd be niche
the pistol wasn’t even relevant in doom ii. it was never relevant in any doom game, because most maps usually give you an actual weapon at the start.
but yeah it is missed
I mentioned Doom II only because Entryway gives you a shotgun towards the end of the level in a secret and it's not even that big of a level
And not counting Doom 3 because twenty minutes of exposition isn't exactly a fun place to use it.

I didn't get the perfection skin either. I was told that I could get it by clearing 3 ripatorium maps, but I couldn't get them even though I cleared all 3 maps dozens of times. That's why I wanted to inquire about the bug, so I told the community here.

Basically, mission 5, holy city of aratum. During the tutorial section, you land and dismount the dragon for the first time, then you throw your shield at a chain to open the gate. Once this is done, a small cutscene of the dragon flying through occurs, and then once you regain control of the slayer, the door in front of them SHOULD open. But it does not. It never does. I've restarted map a dozen times, various reboots, loading other missions, loading on different platform (from XSX to PC). Tried the weapon wheel glitch but nothing. As I've 100% every level up to it, my sanity can't handle restarting on a new save in the hope it doesn't break again.

It looks like the majority of the community thinks the devs and balancers don't know what they're doing, and they feel like they're playing a new game every 2 weeks
And that the balances are happening too often
And that it almost seems like the devs themselves aren't confident in the combat loop of dark ages compared to eternal
What do you guys think though?
fuck cacos so their hp reverse was ok, i wouldn't mind the manc hp reduction if it kept its buffed up projectiles
either like make them tanky with current projectiles or make them a bit weaker with fatter and faster projectiles

I can't help but feel they took heavy inspiration from the lancer assault rifle for the shield saw.
i think the combat loop was completely fine on launch

The whole point of The Dark Ages is that it's meant to be a separate game with a new combat loop. I'm glad Id are keeping it fresh with every release and I'm excited to see how they shake it up for the next game

Eternal Mancubi die pretty pretty quickly in the midgame. They're only really a threat until you get chaingun
ANd in DOOM 2, they can be dispatched easily with SUper SHotty
I think nerfing either their health or projectiles would've been fine

I play the game at 150% speed, so maybe that's why I find them so annoying

I disagree tbh. Projectiles that move that fast and track that well are super annoying. Esp on Nightmare difficulty. That's the best movement Slayer had and it still felt like those shots were like missles.
Then again, I just genuinely do not like the Mancubus in any game he is in.

He's literally just stunlocked while you dish out damage
eternal manc projectiles don't have any tracking, their damage is halved by destroying the arm cannon, and you get 2 free falters by destroying thr arm cannons too
the manc is never overpowered

And i think the mancubus serves to teach the player a good habit of weakpoint breaking to ease long distance pressure and close up weakpoint breaks for keeping him in a falter state. Not only that, if you get too close, he's easily top 3 deadliest enemies in the game, so you get your shit kicked in if you're careless, which is what he should do. I literally never get tired of seeing mancubi in big fights
Cultist Base is just why I don't like them, and I'm pretty sure when I attempt UN there, I'm only going to hate them more because of that one cursed encounter
He's in my opinion the most safe and essential enemy to include in big fights along with the arachnotron

you can also very easily avoid its projectiles

That and close range falter locking are good incentives for you to actually target his cannons
he's also not really a super big issue in cultist base
just use the blades to instea kill the mancs in the first encounter with them
I just find that i can never dodge his fireballs in cultist base specifically and i don't know why
then you get rhe rocket launcher, and you can kill them very easily
I can do it easily later on but i get hit by like every single mancubus fireball in cultist base
rocket->pb weak point->rocket->pb weak point->rocket, dead without being able to do anything
You can also sub out the rocket for the ssg once you get it too

But you'd probably just want to stay safe and use rockets instead in cultist base
you can use the mwb/heat blast to use the ssg in close range
or just do pb weak point->ssg close range->pb weak point->ssg, dead
My cowardly cultist base strategy in ultra nightmare is "break weakpoints with pb, lob everything while running around like an idiot"

Microwave beam and remote detonation are my go to ways to handle cyber mancubi
Cause unlike grenades, you'll always have those 2 available to you

I prefer saving my frags for small crowds or to combo super heavies
Cause again i just don't see why i would waste a frag to falter a cyber manc when a brief second of microwave beam achieves the same result and is always available

Microwave beam is my favorite mod in the entire game tied with full auto

My favorite weapon mod is the meathook
I can just pair it with the ballista to zoom around the entire map
I don't really know if i count the meathook as a mod
just throw grenades here and there for arena control basically
I consider it part of the base weapon
I mean it's a mod
It functions the same way it's an alt fire and binded to the same button as any weapon mod and it has the same upgrade system

And it's so fundemental to the gun and general gameplay that it feels weird calling it a mod

Ripatorium enemy count bug is unfortunately still in existence. The game no longer crashes from this, but now whenever the game hitches like it used to do before crashing, all the enemies disappear and the Ripatorium is completely empty. What a weird bug this is, to survive a hotfix like that.
Any ideas?

the faltering slash has a subtle difference in his stance so watch for it

So you're having a difficult time with a Komodo? OK, this is my advice (works for me all the time) Use the Accelerator and back off, parry when you can otherwise just block. His fireballs can get in the way so just run away in case (remember you take less damage with your back turned). P.S. Make sure your accelerator is upgraded too.
I just hope he doesnt guardcrush me

Cycler is good too, for crowd control. But for 1v1 and highest dps, it's always the Accelerator.

Bit late but have patience with the Komodo, fully upgraded chainshot combined with the ravager makes mince of it so long as you're able to keep it at a reasonable distance and not let it charge you

tbf the game as it is is quite large. Eternal had 13 levels and Battlemode so there was wiggle room for a master level or 2 at launch. DA has 22 levels and got Ripatorium 3 months after launch so it could be taking a little longer

On my 75% DMG to demons playthrough they’re done with two blasts of the default SSG
All the mancubus needed was the removal of his SSG resistance
that's funny, because it takes at least 2 point blank ssg shots to kill a manc at 100% damage

Hey i got a quick question. Is there something i need to do to obtain life sigils? I will walk into them and nothing will happen. You can walk into any other obtainable item and it gives you it, except life sigils.
There is a limit to how many you can hold. The default is three but you can lower it in the settings
If you don't have any and still can't pick them up, take a look in the options and make sure you didn't accidentally lower your maximum capacity

Does the resource value slider affect how much you heal yourself with the rocket launcher self heal? Also Does Blood Sacrafice upgrade (increased splash damage with rocket launcher) increase the heal you get?
I don't believe the resource value slider affects the healing, as it's tied to the rocket's splash damage, though I haven't tested that
but yes, blood sacrifice rockets heal you significantly more than regular ones do--regular rockets heal you by around 11 HP but blood sacrifice rockets heal you by 17-18, which makes sense because a normal face rocket deals 50 damage to you but a blood sacrifice rocket deals 75
and this applies to parry charged rockets as well--the cooked upgrade doesn't actually increase the rocket's splash damage, only its direct impact damage, so the healing is the same there as with a normal un-cooked rocket
just one more reason why blood sacrifice is the better upgrade

I don't mind the gameplay but expecting me to actually find secrets with serrat, especially on replays, is just abysmal

they're no different than other secret areas that can't be accessed once you pass a point of no return
The map is borderline useless

Like the two arrows seem to apply to stuff that's inside infrastructure and there isn't a clear difference between story progress vs secret
every landing zone is marked, and the marking changes once you visit them
it's fairly simple
the ones that aren't required aren't marked by the waypoint diamond
