I have the game open, and I'm setting everything i can with Raytracing in it to 0, if i imput some commands such as that one it spits it out and says it can only be set on the command line

It also was super bogged down for Cyberpunk when I tried it, so I just assumed PT was OP for most graphics cards.

It has the fastest and safest clears up to chapter 12, and by then you can already get a late game weapon like the rocket launcher or impaler.
It clears all the hardest UN levels incredibly easily and quickly, for example the barracks, siege part 1, the forge and others
Genuinely can't tell if he actually liked the game, but not nearly as much as 2016/Eternal
....or if he was just kinda lukewarm or indifferent to Dark Ages, but recognizes it's "technically" a well made game.
Also sometimes seems like he straight up hates the game, but recognizes it's "critically" good

It has higher dps than every other weapon when they aren't fully upgraded, and the mobility let's you stay on the back of enemies so they rarely hit you even when up close
He explains that he had the same experience I had, which was getting through 30-50% of the game and not getting it and not having that much fun.
It took a while for it to click for me. Now that’s it’s clicked for me it’s up with Eternal. Better at times.
And at the end of his review he still gave it 8/10

They aren't even removed from TDA anyways, they are just different, faster to match Dark Ages' gameplay as there are far more enemies on the screen. The mechanic behind them (recovering health) is still there.

The gore isn't nearly as good either.
2016 had the CRUNCH, the brutality, the visceralness, and the sick gore.
I lost count how many times the slowmo got me killed or screwed my momentum and caused me to take heavy damage because not only the slowmo breaks the momentum, you can't do much during it

The Demonic Essence encounter executions are really cool.
I think Dark Ages has MUCH crunchier and more satisfying glory kills than Eternal's plastic weak thin ones.

There’s a lot more thought put into the combat system than the previous 2 games. Eternal’s “fun zone” was partly innovated by the players, to be fair here.

I’m hoping Doom continues to be supported by Microsoft so id can continue to tell their stories with this goated franchise. I’d love more games revolving around the Slayer Testaments. TDA was a blast. Hoping it gets some more content updates soon though.

To add on… I’d also like id to focus on their other IPs eventually. Talented and ambitious group of developers. I like that Hugo and the team acknowledge franchise burnout, which is why they continue to innovate with Doom. Creating the same game twice is both boring for developers and players.
That being said, there’s only so far you can go with Doom’s combat until it starts to drift from being DOOM altogether.
I’d love to see a modern Quake game one day.

Is anyone else experiencing an issue where you'll parry an attack, it'll be deflected and affect the enemy, but you'll still take full damage from the attack? This happens at least 5% of the time I parry an attack and it's really frustrating
I saw some people a while back speculating that it had to do with game logic breaking at increased game speed but im on normal game speed, just lower parry window

It's happening to me at an annoyingly frequent rate. It also occurs at normal speed. And I think it increases damage taken as well.
Now to be fair during this time I had cranked up damage received to 500% but even at 500% hell knights usually take 3 hits to kill me from full armor & health. Did a parry, got a falter and everything. And my armor and health went from full to 5 health points (the one shot cap).
It's also weird parrying a stone imp's charge and watching stones go flying while also seeing the stone imp still in front of you.

I’m glad I’m not alone in this because it’s actually affecting my enjoyability of the game. It feels fucking awful to seemingly perfectly parry a projectile and still take full damage. I’d legitimately rather take the damage and fail the parry because that’d just tell me that I need to git gud at parrying, but when this happens it feels so janky

I agree that it’s a bug. Did some basic research and saw some people coping about it being the “forgiveness of the parrying system” and yet nobody can decide whether it happens when parrying to late or early. Must be a bug
It’s a bug. If you perfect parry certain attacks, framerate and game speed can affect its reliability. These attacks are usually ground slams, or anything that requires making contact with the ground.
Either way it’s insanely frustrating

On a side topic. Imps are ironically the hardest enemies in the game. Normal imps throw energy that stop your attack. Stone imps will stop your shield toss. And invisible imps spam energy nets. Assaulting an imp horde feels like assaulting a castle. A castle whose walls are made of energy nets.
Yeah the energy projectiles are annoying. Hate how your shield bounces off of them. When there’s a horde, it blocks your shield constantly. Feels so good to finally shield bash into a horde of them.

The Imp Stalkers easily go down with a good close up SSG once or twice max, the stone imps can be challenging when other stuff is thrown at you, the nightmare imp stalkers are the same way with SSG and in fact I've now started doing a 180 with SSG when picking up secrets for when they spawn behind you

Falters whenever an armor piece breaks. You can try and get in a melee hit if you’re quick enough, though not recommended on higher speed settings.
Hard falters if you get 3 consecutive parries on its attacks, or if you break all armor pieces quick enough.
Follow up with a melee combo while it’s hard faltered.
You can seriously kill them with three Chainshot parries, a shield toss and a melee combo.
I barely use the rocket launcher, mainly cause I play alot of un and it's risky with the splash damage
Yeah, the cannibalism upgrade is super fun. The heal output isn’t good enough to tank enemies with it on higher difficulties though, but it can be a life saver if you use it right.

when its incredibly powerful, like the argent orbs, it then lets him upgrade either his hp, ammo, or armor respectively
but if he were to actually literally get stronger with every kill, it wouldve been actually shown or referenced more than just two random codexes the game has
and also, he can still bleed from demons, even in doom 2016, because elena richardson's logs in doom eternal say that there have been blood samples (just found randomly or all over the place, not from one specific spot) from doomguy during the mars attacks
and no, he cannot be hurt in the coffin, iirc he had an argent shield and was basically invulnerable in it as long as the coffin was closed

the game works fine no on ultra settings after the Nividia patch

Well they didn't need to force raytracing on the game, and should have made a fallback system for lower graphics card. and even if they didn't want to that, they at least could have announced the major Nvidia update that helped me and all players with 6GB VRAM to stop using spoofing and they could now play the game normally

thats not how minimum requirements work. if you play the game on minimum requirement, its expected for the game to run normally on low graphics. going lower than that is gonna have graphical issues. its not just about frames per sec

The disagree with the minimum requirements since the games runs well on my laptop, which i am grateful for. They could have simply patched the dark areas in the game using something other than RT. BUt let's say they can't do it, i udnerstand that. But at least address the nvidia patch that solved the issue

Id fixed it actually, Nvidia had to update the drivers to work with the patch that id put out to fix it
