Don't take this as confirmation since I didn't explore the gameplay settings, but it seems like most highlight-related things can be turned off

there's a solid chance that you can disable them. I will say that the new highlights were super helpful, I probably would've missed pickups in the heat of battle if it wasn't for the beams

This is why I like the ending of tag 2 for not being all sunshine and rainbows. It fits the tone of the story and the character

Heat up enemy armor with ballistics and then use the shield saw to crack it. Ammo shards everywhere.
