Most small computer shops will build you a custom rig if you tell them what you need it for and give them a budget They'll go over your options and get feedback and then asemble it and everything pulling from the best sources. Also then, if there's anything wrong, they will be able to fix it - such as compatibility issues and stuff.
I recommend. If you're in a city, take a look for small operated computer shops and give them a ring. It's their budsiness so they're usually eager to make it as cool as possible.

Generally, if you enjoy Doom for everything that it has been and has evolved to be, you should. You get a pretty neat skin to go along with the game too.
Although if you’ve got any doubt at all, then I’d just wait for it to release. It’s coming out day 1 on Gamepass, so if you’ve got it, might be better to take that route. You ultimately save money on a game you’re not sure you’ll like by doing so.

I'm almost within the system requirements for Dark Ages, but my current processor has only 6 cores. So I have to spend more than $70 for Dark Ages.

Though I do have enough memory and my GPU is 12GB VRAM, so I'm in the clear for those 2.

changing your motherboard wont do ANYTHING to your data if your SSD or storage device is safely removed before you do it. The ONLY 2 things that are unique "data wise" are:

1. Your windows key (if its OEM)

2. Your MAC Address

just to give an idea how dark ages would run on the steam deck, on Indiana Jones my resolution is like 928x580 and most of the settings are on low or medium with a few exceptions, the battery life is around and 1hr 30mins

also the resolution scaling is on static btw, it's best to keep it that way in most cases imo

also I could be wrong but I think doom the dark ages minimum requirements are like slightly under Indiana Jones?

I was playing World Spear a little earlier and I noticed, whilst likely unintentional, but in the soundtrack in the ambience section when you hear the vocal chant it sounds like they're saying "Ahzrak" (whom we know is the new antagonist in TDA)

It’s painfully mediocre if anything, even battlemode has a niche following who has a form of dedication to it, horde mode is just something beginners will pick up and then drop after the first few times, and maybe the occasional person to take it seriously, of course this is a slight exaggeration but as the playerbase gets stretched thinner and thinner as time goes on, this becomes more true

I’m sure Doom’s story can go many different directions, so I don’t doubt there’s ideas for another game. Still, I think it’d be better to move on to other projects for a bit.
