I agree, that's why I hate when games get release dates years ahead of time. I don't want them to force the game to come out in 2025 if it's not done in 2025.
@misty beacon Far as I recall I'd software never rushes.
its really weird that people are talking about a delay as if its inevitable?
no one has patience or the will to wait
2025 is a pretty massive window
kinda, kinda not, had to with the DLC's for eternal. They had a release schedule and they they got their ass fisted by corona, switched over to homeoffice and 100% remote work in a matter of weeks and still delivered something that wasnt trash
It may be because people like to make the release date later than it actually is, in order to make it feel better when the game comes out sooner than they expected.
what??
ohh I see what you mean
you're saying that people expect the worst so that they're pleasantly surprised if that's not the case
Reminds me of the DLC drop, when the trailer dropped it just ended with TOMORROW
That was so massive dick on the table
I am a minor and because of this I am sending my brother to quake con to be my spy so I can get more info about TDA.
They force themselves to believe the release date will come later than the devs said it will
Then the game comes out when the devs said it would
And they get happy that it came out sooner than they thought
Yes
that sorta makes sense I suppose
shadow drops are always really awesome
but they very rarely happen
I believe Metroid Prime Remastered shadow dropped
Technically I think Dark Ages has had more dev time than eternal did, so I'm not really sure why everyone thinks it's going to need a massive delay
because if you wait long enough without giving people content they start making it up
Eternals Release Day got me so fucking hyped made me fu||[MESSAGE REDACTED BY DISCORD T.O.S.]||
Although I suppose eternal kinda was just 2016 2 so they might've been able to reuse more assets than the dark ages will
You take that back.

talk to anyone who says 2016 is their favorite and they will explain why Eternal is not at all 2016 2
Just doom 2016 2...
Oh they still have plenty levels, stuff to make. They are not done yet.
I should ban u for this
very different philosophies and styles, they do share certain gameplay elements, but Eternal chose a very different path
It was an upgrade in all aspects
The based department is missing their CEO
2016 IS my favorite doom, and they used a lot of the same stuff, like they had the same weapons, mostly the same mods, the same amount of levels, some similar atmospheres and assets (like how the uac guards are wearing armor from the 2016 multiplayer for example), and yes they are very different games but eternal IS very clearly the sequel to 2016, even if it expanded on it a lot and made a pretty different game in the end
@prime sentinel that's 1 reason I love dark ages is grounded combat. Not moving around like your a monkey.
yes it is literally a sequel, but as a game, mechanically, it is not simply retreading what 2016 did
the Dark Ages is a sequel (well, its a prequel, but its still the next game in the series) and it looks to be a departure even from Eternal
though, I believe Marty said that Dark Ages will be just as different from Eternal as Eternal is from 2016
so take that how you will
I really don't want to offend you, but thats such a mid point of view
well I think in a superficial sense it is continuing ideas from 2016
Which part
If you look at it like this you can say "Egoshooter 2" is just a sequel of "Egoshooter 1"
Like there is A LOT more depth to any of your comparisons made
Which makes it ultimately extremely divers from 2016
I think Hugo mentioned that Eternal began development as a more straightforward sequel
but morphed throughout development
i have a question because im not entirely lore equipped to understand where this game is on the time table, but when in the doom universe does this new entry take place, just askin for my owen convienence to catch up
Meathook pulling enemies towards you was such a goofy idea
You guys do realize that this isn't me criticizing eternal right? It's just me saying that they are similar and they probably were able to reuse a lot of assets and ideas
No, i didnt say u were. Im just saying there is a lot more to it. Your message just sounded super "basic"
I'm not viewing it as a critique, lots of people would have loved Eternal to be as close to 2016 as possible
also, yes they definitely did reuse a few assets, like the explosive barrels for instance, and some door models I think
@misty beacon I like the meathook but to each their own.
what they're saying is the meathook functioned differently in early builds of the game, it does not pull enemies towards you anymore
Same, just saying. Original idea of the MH wasnt that YOU go TO THE ENEMIE
But THE ENEMIE going TOWARDS YOU

but also: there are reused assets in TDA
explosive barrels
of course, all subject to change, yeah
The current meathook is art.
Pulling enemies to you is kinda goofy yeah, lol
the meathook was genius
maybe in the new gameplay style pulling enemies towards you would make more sense though
Yup
In my humble opinion there were a lot of "placeholder assets"
But who am i to know, im just a lazy fat discord mod without insider information
@prime sentinel explosive barrels are reused since the first doom.
I meant these particular models
they're in 2016 and eternal
and the trailer for TDA
ugh, im just saying that the last two games we had a lot more gameplay to drool over right off the bat.
I really dont wanna shit on it, pls id software trailer guy, u know who u are and i love you "eternally".
But there was some jank in it...
@misty beacon Like what?
there's some enemies that don't get cut in half exactly when they should
Best example when the shield flies through the enemies, from T-Posing to Despawning/Respawning Models, we had everything..
I'm gonna chalk any jank to being similar to what we saw with early Eternal gameplay where it was a demonstration meant to give us the jist of what they're going for
and that some functionality was "hacked" in
or acted out
that part was very cool, and impressive
you can probably fire a smiley face of holes in the TDA Manc based on what i remember seeing at QC
To me the amount of change from eternal to dark ages seems a decent bit larger than the amount of change from 2016 to eternal. The artstyle seems like it's getting a huge change, I don't think much will be able to be reused in the final product, the gameplay will likely keep a few elements but overall I think will be pretty different again, were getting a bunch of new weapons and mechanics, and overall it just seems like so much change that i question if they'll be able to reuse anything at all
@prime sentinel yeah
well, probably some sentinal architecture and stuff
The gameplay change seems larger between TDA and DE than between DE and D2016, I agree
But 2016 to DE was still a massive difference
I bet they can modify things

Never gets old.
Can't wait to be playing that as a 40 year old divorced dad
Yeah I agree, they can probably get away with using some of that
but also, for Doom Eternal they had to make a fuck ton of new assets just because the way modern game dev works
every level has a ton of bespoke assets made just for it
certain generic assets like doors and stuff can be reused
but I'm pretty sure a lot of the time, the art team has to make brand new stuff on a per level basis

on the brightside: its definite evidence that this is in game footage
and besides the aforementioned jank, it looks very good
Besides I have so many steam games to play and mods I'm working on. I can wait for them to finish making the game.
imagine being able to use all the assets for moding
Day 1 modding is not likely at all, but maybe one day
Not sure where on the pipeline IdStudio 2.0 (TDA) for release is ... if ever
first thing I would do is remake Slough of Despair
Suppodely have to wait a year or so until dark ages mod tools.
I mean, look at that tree, that is straight out of Doom 1
yah i doubt we get modding for TDA anytime soon.
where does this info come from lmao
honestly i would rather see assets packs from Doom 2016 added first if that is even possible
Lets wait for the game to release first okay?
11/14/2025
01/01/2025
My best friend Aaron . he works at I'd software Q + A department.
My dad owns id software and aaron is fired now
Lol
My dad is half life he works for gabe newell
my dad is half life because I only see him every other week!
Oh shit hes related to my uncle steam
but don't worry because he lets me eat tacos over the floor
and drink mountain dew
My dad is NIN he works for E4M1
Dont make me leak chats from the idsoftware femboy channel
My dad is id software and he works for doom 3 resurrection of evil
where do you guys think the doomslayer got the fur on his cape?
The pinky creature
well the agaddon creature is either wearing fur himself, or its his own. Maybe the slayer scalped one
It could be some weird fur placement or just the angle of the image but this looks like the Agaddon Hunter has a cape of its own
yah its probably his battle outfit.
so its probably from the pink colored mount thing. I refuse to call it a pinky because i do not think it is
I hope they bring back the classic unarmored pinkies, and we fight them in swarms like in classic doom
So far it looks like there is 0 chance for a new gameplay teaser at game awards, by checking reddits GamingLeaksAndRumours every now and then
Why does every id game’s protagonist have a square head
The blascovich family curse
The blazkowicz pictures yes sure that's pretty square but like classic doomguy that's an oval my guy
Not a square
The top of his head?
Human heads generally have flat tops if they have short hair
Look at the bottom of his head. Clearly round. Not square.
His head forms an oval shape more than a square shape
Is this more accurate
And I’m somewhat ashamed
I guess so
Ok
Although I didn't know keem was part of the connected idverse theory tbh
Keen is
Keen is in the doom multiverse
Becus there is a commander keen skin in eternal
And Keen is in the second Wolfenstein level in DOOM II but pretty sure that's not canon so
Doom multiverse
It’s cannon
It is not canon
What does the multiverse have to do with the Wolfenstein levels
Doom multiverse
Everything in doom games are cannon
Including doom slayer skins and stuff
....no.
They are all related
Canon in another universe =/= canon in our DOOM universe
You don't get it
I get what your saying
The multiverse is canon sure but that doesn't mean that every single thing in the main universe is canon
Battle mode?
But it is confirmed they are related
And I don’t care what you say doom and quake are in the same universe
What are you even talking about anymore
Source?
It has never been confirmed
Wait
The connected idverse theory is just that. A "theory." It has never been confirmed
I was remembering wrong
The consequences of Quake III on the storytelling
The canon status of the RPG games is unknown
Doesn't have an impact on the storytelling if the RPGs aren't canon, does so if they are, but the thing is we do not know if they are or not
Ok
Doom TDA is less than %1 away from first place atm https://x.com/klobrille/status/1861860898412863619
twitter blocked here, is there a bluesky poll?
i would not say 0 chance, but i think there is hope for a few crumbs
Not that hard with those rivals
Still not sure how Avowed got to first, but no shade towards Obsidian
Unfortunately no
People thirst for a new skyrim, and the outer worlds wasn't awful atleast
I have no clue what South of Midnight is, and who the hell is actually excited for AAA slop indiana jones??
South of Midnight has an interesting concept but the game itself doesn’t look like much so far, really like the music in its reveal trailer tho
Looks like yet another awful ubi-open world "action" game
Bit from the trailer, combat feels like it's the generic "spam m1 for melee attacks" game
Hope DTDA gets another trailer at the game awards
I think doom is cool and like the doom slayer
ok imagine if there was a game journalist mode it was just easier than i’m to young to die
Most creative and original joke on doomcord
When the doom music kicks in 🤣🤣
just another decade of being stuck in 2016... it'll all be over soon.
The game journalist jokes will stop when photo mode comes out of beta trust me
tda modding support first
You say that as if that’s less likely to happen
They'll fix that one impossible revenant milestone before they take the photomode out of beta
And they will never fix that milestone
photo mode one day !
!!
What, the one where you need to use the jetpack for 50 seconds? That one counts how long you've held down the fly button for, not how much time you actually spend airborne
Isn’t avowed the racist one
There's a comic con here in Stuttgart/Germany and you can play Indiana Jones so I guess there will be at least one bethesda dude, will kidnapp him and demand new gameplay footage in exchange
Doom slayer oiled up when?
Why
yeah i second that
why
Exactly vro
Hi
Why does Chatgpt think doom the dark ages is a fan project not developped by Id software lol
Their tripping like hell
AI is the future!!
h
chatgpt's knowledge cutoff is 2023 iirc
so it wouldnt know about dark ages until its cutoff is 2024
Oh how interesting
That's fascinating I didn't know their algorithm functioned in such a manner
is there any more infermation on the dark ages so far
unfortunately not
Yes
I thought it came out 2025?
I’m spreading misinformation
it was a ridiculous question so I met it with a ridiculous answer
a simple google search would have answered that
Lmao
Guys, i am the biggest doom fan, since my childhood. But as someone with zero gaming friends and a completionist gamer who goes after all the trophies, i hate multiplayer trophies and sections in doom games. I have all other trophies in all doom games except the multiplayer because i got noone to play with.
So when Doom Dark Ages comes out, can you please help me get those multiplayer trophies first, so i can continue focusing on what i love about doom games, which is the solo campaigns.
bro is asking for help in a game that didnt even got a release date yet
When TDA releases the MP will 100% be alive as hell
Yeah it’s not gonna be hard to do, I got most multiplayer stuff in doom 2016 5 years after release
2016 MP is pretty impossible for me, nobody is ever on :p
I actually cant wait to play the dark ages then torture myself beating the hardest difficulty like all the other games
i start with HMP generally and go all the way too ultra nightmare. I still havn't beaten TAG1 on it ... beaten it legit that is
hopefully dark ages has a proper multiplayer
considering how much people yearn for an active multiplayer mode here I hope TDA's is active if it has one
gamemode where you fight another player and your both in mechs
Pretty sure Dark Ages has confirmed no multiplayer. What a shame
Single player only 🥲
where is this info coming from
I haven't heard word at all that it is only singleplayer
the steam page says "DOOM: The Dark Ages is the single-player, action FPS prequel to the critically acclaimed DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal."
so perhaps this is a sign it won't have multiplayer? but also multiplayer has not been discussed at all afaik so its a bit strange to say its confirmed to not be there, I wouldn't be surprised if there was no MP but I haven't heard anyone definitively say there is none
the multiplayer of both new doom games has consistently been the most criticized part of the game
and, yes, I know there are fans of both, but in general 2016's especially was heavily criticized in its time
I’ve never played 2016 multiplayer myself so I’m not sure how that went but I personally don’t like battlemode
I would be fine if tda had no multiplayer on release to refine the campaign as much as possible
2016 I seemed to get lucky and started hunting MP during a period where it was active.
there is no confirmation of this
Doom 2016 mp was gas. As much as I love doom part of me was hoping for a quake reboot with confirmed PvP; bring arena shooters back ID and my life is yours.
Brother , may I have some oats
Why are there genuinely so many band kid level mfs out here
literally they just join conversations and they'll just post le loads shotgun with malicious intent gifs like stfu
deadass think some of them aren't even real people shit drives me mad
On god I hate that shit. “PRAISE DOOMSLAYER AND DESTROY FURRIES 🤪” MY GUY YOU ARE NOT APART OF THE TEAM YOU HAVE NEVER PLAYED A SINGLE GAME IN THIS SERIES.
literal bot level activity
"I hate DOOM 3 and DOOM 2005!" <- never even tried them
Honestly the most experience they’ve had are the decino and civvie 11 videos that popped up in their YouTube fyp that they promptly ate up like candy
im hoping we will find out at the game awards
between september and december is my guess
it saying 2025 most like means late 2025
around holidays most likely
maybe a christmas release
or a eternal situation and release in march
I dont want Doom to release next to GTA VI
I hope info on when TDA comes out is announced soon. I’m planning on buying a new PC, and I don’t want to spend money on it before I really need to
This isn't exactly what I hope, just what I think.
What I hope is that it will release before my birthday but that's not happening unless they work nonstop with no sleep. Then MAYBE they'll have it done. I made this account on my birthday so you can see what that is.
Fr
What is the release date for doom the dark ages
2025 we don’t have a specific month or date yet
Ok, thanks for letting me know
“Doom 3 is a good game but not a good DOOM game” ☝️🤡
March 2026
Tomorrow 😀
It's so entertaining watching them be complete losers, they'd hate how many furries the classic DOOM community has😭😭
Full on seizure on the floor
I'd say probably around mid to late 2025. It looks to be a big game, and if Bethesda got to work at about 2022, I assume it'll release around then.
Fr. Like they are so annoying they post the same 4 memes constantly and act like they know everything about doom
Summer at the earliest, Fall most likely imo
Also there is no confirmation that we are getting SP only. I can't imagine a doom game w/o some form of MP.
Personally i would like to see a horde coop mode AND invasions.
are yall hyped for the dark ages
Ofc er are
Doom has usually releases in March. I don't know why everyone is guessing summer or fall.
yeah kinda weird
i really loved the fact that they released they games in march
they released doom eternal right on my birday wich was really cool
They ate still working on it
Probably not close to being done yet..
probably
but it looks dope
Hell yeah
Not really
everytime i see it it reminds me of doom
its like a dude who drinks beer and is skiing while smoking
Oh ok
I don't know where you get that idea.
they could be fixing bugs tbh
From my best friend Aaron. He works at I'd software. Q + A. Department.
lol sure.
thats cool if you are not lyin
he is. QA you would lose your job with a leak like that. Breaking NDA
If I was lying I would a said somebody higher up
past release dates doesn't mean anything. Doom Eternal was set to release in the fall before delayed
to be fair its not that serios if you say that
like the franchise wouldnt fall
unless its way too much times delayed
"to be fair"... yeah, and my best friend Bob
you wouldnt lose your job if you say that its still in beta
of course you would.
no you wouldnt
yes, you would..
it was delayed because of Covid
covid didn't exist yet
shut downs started right around the time Doom Eternal released
in fact i remember taht putting a damper on the release night
i think lockdown started 1 week before it came out for me
I can't remember. DE was released in March. Wasn't one of the DLCs delayed after covid hit?
i dont think so, i think the only thing that was impacted were their quality being diminished
yah DLC 2 was rushed perhaps, i still think the levels were all pretty awesome
the lore also took a confusing turn, i coudnlt keep track of it the first few times i played it
by that time i was just kind of tired of the eternal formula and dropped it after dlc 2
Invasions also got cancelled due to covid
yea
This saddens me a lot
small hope we see it for TDA. I pray to my baalgar statue every day for it to return
Invasions, I think they also realized after playtesting that it wasn't as fun and they then switched to Horde mode.
I really hope so, any id multiplayer mode deserves to thrive and invasions didn't even get a chance
not at all, something to do with WFH and testing the netcode and servers.
WFH?
Invasion is way more fun than horde...
it was never released though. 😁
Mods🙂
horde mode had potential. THe modded version is much better if you ever played it
it uses the Battlemode maps and is actually more randomized - which makes it more replayable in my opinion
yeah I saw the modded horde mode. I think id made a good version of Horde. It scales across the entire player base. Where the community version just looks brutal from the beginning and not enticing.
The people playing mods are generally a decent chunk better than the average playerbase
And in the beginning it's just fodder
i play mods and i suck now, i play on HMP. Back in the day, during the long long ago, i was beating the game on ultranightmare
but i never beat it legit, that is not in one entire play through. I could only beat it by play each level 12 times on nightmare till i had it down to a science.
Maybe as the Night Sentinels?
So like you play as them (quite a bit weaker) with the host being Doom Slayer himself on the Unholy Crusades as mentioned in Eternal?
My brother in Christ, every one wants to be the doomguy
Fair yeah, but it would make more sense for the others to be the Sentinels, rather than just pulling Halo's Dust and Echoes out for it
Probably just make the Sentinels equal to Doom Guy, but the enemies far tougher?
It's not about if it makes sense, it's about coolness
Valid
only issue with real coop is that the campaign has to balance around that, which usually means it turns to meh. At least i base that on Youngblood. Not saying it could work but FPS has gotten far more complicated.
I think a cool coop mode might be some type of follower mode, where the main player controls the slayer, and he has followers that help. Kinda like Sonic 2. Basciallt you can play as a uac marine or sentinel
my biggest hope for dark ages is that they bring back team deathmatch
a demons vs slayers deathmatch style would go crazy ngl
Sorta like Species Team Deathmatch in Aliens vs. Predator (2010).
I like that idea.
Yo ik this has nothing to do to with what yall were talking bout but im so damn pumped for this game like the sound track will be coursing through my brains when it drops
Hopefully the soundtrack will be officially released this time too
I’d hoped the doom slayer and the dark lord would be forced to enter into a temporary, uneasy alliance against an even larger threat. At least when I fantasized about coop lol
Doom slayer would NOT let that slide
That'd just..ruin the whole point of the franchise
Plus Slayer isn't exactly the type of character that would form unholy alliances
He's gonna take down everyone who harms/has harmed humanity
Even if it means fighting multiple sides (oh, he did it in Eternal, too)
I don't see why the co-op has to have a canon reason, they should just let you play as two slayers cus it's fun
I always imagined a coop mode would involve Crash from Quake III. As the Slayer's instructor, it would make sense that the both of them use the same weapons.
im fine with a arena/horde coop taht involves sentinals and UAC soldiers or whatever. I have a hard time speculating what we may get do two the lack of gameplay. But the level design and world is said to be 3X in size with going back to zones after they open up new areas that offer new surprises. The term Sandbox was also dropped.
I just thought it would have been cool to be the slayer flinging around and fighting from above while a friend plays a more tanky demon summoner Davoth. But like I said, this was just me fantasizing about it a year or two ago 🤣 I don’t expect doom to become coop. Looks like the slayer is just gonna become more beefy with dark ages and they’re not gonna use the same play style in every game anyways
Damn right
youngblood is brutal solo but you do have a point
i only played it solo, it wasn't a very good game
I hope the soundtrack sounds more on the tribal side than heavy electronics. I know this sounds like a hot take but it's not, given that it's a medieval dark age setting, some argent style choral drums pounding in the battlefield would go so hard
I have hope taht Mick shows up at TGA, and does a quick TDA song and gets confirmation as diong the soundtrack. I know its wishful thinking, but i can fantasize can't i?
😁 it would be the makeup of our lifetime if that ever happened. I don't think we'll see Mick ever again around the Doom franchise.
theres no bigger threat than davoth
Not even mysterious Samur post-tag1? Though I guess if doom slayer was able to get him, then davoth would too, unless he gets super-powered lol
samur was really just a corrupted maykr iirc
Yeah and davoth in tag2 would’ve been way more than a dude in a wh40k suit if it wasn’t for all the bs going on in the world then too
Davoth full power wouldve rocked doomslayer
Doom slayer isn’t full power either if he’s using his guns 🤣
I didn’t think too deeply bout that till now
Doom Slayer without weapons is beserker mode
davoths power was stripped from him by vega
I bet if he really wanted to, he would’ve just started tearing pieces of armor off and going crazy like how he would have to the titans
Doom slayer in lore is a human-shaped vessel of rage
Davoth in lore is a shapeshifter? (Or at least secretly a dragon ?)
If I remember correctly
Davoth was in an extremely weakeneded state when doomslayer awoken him, Full power wouldnt have needed the red praetor suit
I suppose that both recognized concessions must be made for the sake of the game
You’re damn right, the end of the doom ost on spotify is a great example of electronic doom music, but I too would like some tribal/medieval-grand drums
Dark Age.. did it the same Marine(doom, guy). Or else?!
I didn’t really think of the continuity, I just thought it is doom guy’s early lore
Are any of you guys nervous that DtDA’s combat will be less engaging than Eternal’s?
I'm on the side of those that defend Eternals Combat
Right here✋😐
I love Eternals, but I feel Dark Ages’ will be more grounded
Which is making me think it might be less engaging, if the skill sealing is lower? Pure speculation, and we don’t know anything yet
I really liked Eternal’s, but the meat hook is used so much for dodging in combat that you might as well be flying through the air most of the time
I’m excited for a more realistic and tanky combat experience. For the longest time you couldn’t even jump in games (not that that’s a good thing)
I’d much rather go toe to toe with the knights of hell after playing so much of Eternal, without copping out by flinging myself over them every five seconds, instead engaging in tight-knit combat that feels like dark souls. Though I may not have a sword and shield, the shotgun will suffice
A very fair and good point!
But we will get a shield😏😏
Yes, I expect that if you use it to kill demons they will die in the same way as a destroyer blade in doom eternal (for most of them).
I hope that if you kill a demon with a shield throw, depending on which limbs it hits, maybe they’re left crawling on the ground for a bit after their legs are sheared off if you aim at their legs. (I would want to use a sword for that, but I don’t think there will be one in a doom game aside from a limited use crucible like in eternal)
Maybe we’ll see the first use of the Crucible in Dark Ages, but considering the flail maybe not. Really hoping for another trailer soon. Watched the first one about 20 times by now
I always liked flails and maces so I’m really happy with the medieval weaponry regardless
When they say grounded I don’t think they mean realism, I think they mean you will be literally on the ground most of the time
Because I don’t think the combat looks realistic at all lol and I don’t think that’s the point
It’s called the rail spike
They say it in a game spot video iirc
@prime sentinel oh you’re right!

I’d love to see them iterate on some of the combat elements from Eternal😍
the impression I'm getting is that its more or less a clean slate
its a new combat system to learn and master
They have very good combat in the previous entries, so this’ll probably be good aswell
definitely, I'm very excited to see what they do with it
I'm liking what I've seen so far, but we've seen very little
Yeah hoping exploration has a bit more rewards like secret encounters and getting weapons early and stuff
They said it’s not open world, just has much larger levels
Interested in how this will play out exactly
Larger levels sound fun, I wouldn’t want a DOOM open world atm
same here
I think the Doom Eternal levels are already pretty massive so I can only assume they mean there will be more going on in each levels than just encounters and stuff
I'm going to guess more puzzles and dungeon crawl-y stuff akin to classic doom
I believe quake con goers mentioned a puzzle involving the shield
don't quote me on this, I wasn't there
Doom: The Dark Ages (stylized as DOOM: The Dark Ages) is the next entry in the Doom series, revealed to be a prequel to Doom (2016). Previously known by a codename of Doom Year Zero, the game will involve a medieval theme,[1] and was first formally announced at the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9, 2024. It has been set for release sometime in 2025...
Here’s a good rundown of everything that is known so far
Some details regarding the quakecon footage is missing
Sounds very fun, good puzzles and maybe some mini bosses could be good
Giving this a look
QuakeCon reveals sound insane, sounds like a much set piece heavier game, than any of the two before it
They can be big but they're still linear so their functional size is a lot smaller
yes I suppose its moreso length that doom eternal levels have
they can be quite long and they have a sense of scale, but they aren't really large and fully explorable
when did the first dark ages trailer release
June 9th this year
which i could see it again. I REALLY wish i could see the 2014 gameplay, but sadly that video self destructed
I didn’t mean realism when I said grounded, I just couldn’t think of another word to describe the player only walking and jump/double jumping, instead of flying through the air like a 🛩️
Like literally just that doom slayer is grounded to the floor I guess lol
Haha maybe, I guess we’ll have to see
I’d be surprised if there isn’t double jumping, but doom slayer hasn’t gotten the boots from 2016 in dark ages yet 🤔
I have a feeling even a double jump would make combat way more aerial than they want to
also, if you look at the projectiles in the trailer, a lot of them are the size of the slayer
they're tall projectiles that you're likely supposed to strafe around rather than jump over
Which is sad news
Huge bummer
I'm sure someone has the footage out there, the devs definitely do
but no one has publically released it because they were asked not to
hugo said to my face that it is lost forever, deleted, gone, history. I don't see a reason why he would lie about that
I spoke with someone a while ago who mentioned it
existing, that is,
who knows though, surely if someone recorded it it would have leaked by now, or maybe every one who has the footage just loves Id that much
Some one at id? Well if they do have it i see no reason to keep it locked down.
from what i gathered, the 2014 video starts with teh cyberdemon pulling the player out, and then it pretty much plays the Foundry level and ends with the rev killing the player
There are also bits and pieces of that video in the first trailer
yeah I remember hearing this description back then haha
foudnry was also interwoven with resource ops too if i recollect
maybe when nightdive remasters it in 2036 we'll get it in the Id Vault
😏
yah, 12 years to do, start the countdown. Nightdive should also do a mini campaign as well
2016 is actually as old as 3 was when it got remastered
no id vault in doom 3 bfg though
we need a new doom 3 remaster with an id vault
I bet they got tons of doom 3 stuff sitting around
they had a lot of doom stuff and that game is waaay older
yah new Doom 3 remastered, and another lost mission episode that stars doom girl
Quake 2's development in general was a lot more structured so it makes sense they had more in the way of design documents and stuff
Wolfenstein 2009 needs a remaster, i can't even plat it even though i have the CD ROM. 🏴☠️ 🌊
No need for a remaster I'd say
so it stands to reason there's probably a lot of Doom 3 stuff
Just rerelease it
doubt it
that game's wrapped up in a bunch of wacky stuff, still delisted on steam
yah id be happy if they just make it playable
even though I think technically they should be able to sell it since microsoft owns activision and id?
though, I'm not going to pretend I know how this legal shit works
This game should be the #1 most sought after delisted Steam game, NOT TASM 2
i bet they are doing a remaster of Heretic-Hexen and Wolf 2009 once MS bought the rights
wake me up when the game gets released
you have about 345 days to sleep!
might be more than that if the devs delay it, i trust them tho
We will just have to wait and see I suppose
Indiana jones is using id tech 7
It's a modified version
well there is a ton of cinamatics, like 4 hours or more, not to mention lots of audio. that shit adds up
Disk space? That's irrelevant. Look at the recommended GPU for max eye candy
right Indy is using a modified version of Eternal's engine
I think Machinegames always seem to not perform as well as Id's games, for example, Wolfenstein TNC
even despite using Id's engines
I feel like some might get turned off from MachineGames Wolfenstein if there coming from playing DOOM 2016 or Eternal since if you try to play New Order or TNC like 2016 or Eternal you’ll die real quick
And with how popular and well received 2016 and Eternal are I feel like it’s set a sort of weird expectation in some peoples minds
I was like that at first (I didn’t get turned off from MachineGames Wolfenstein though I really like them) but maybe that’s just me
i mean if it was just the engine and not how the actual game is designed i'd question a lot about the industyr
i should have read more
If ya'll had to give an estimate percentage of any DTDA info being revealed at The Game Awards, what would it be?
a trailer, i say about 50/50, real gameplay 5%,
DTDA had gameplay tho, more would be nice, but it definitely looks like it plays very well
By now I am certain tga has nothing to offer
honestly i don think we will get neither a trailer or gameplay. Maybe another short teaser that promote the next xbox direct which will have TDA gameplay
gameplay as in 15 minutes of slayer doing stuff like we got with 2016/Eternal
trailers are much different, and do not really give you a good glimpse on how the game works
I dreamt about TDA again. Didn't the folk that attended QC and saw the footage report a single barrel shotgun being in the game?
i dont remember seeing one, but there was a double barreled plasma rifle
Was it literally the one from DE but split down the middle frame?
not the one from DE, it was more mediaval looking. It fired blue shit
yeah, and a double barreled plasma rifle
Like the bucaneer skin? Wooden frame and all?
I've read people report it was literally the classic PR but with a side-by-side barrel config.
Beats me, we'll see.
yah the barrels were squarish I think, so it looked like the classic plasma in a way
Wonder what's in the plans for a Rocket Launcher this time around.
Watch it fire skulls.
Oh, did you happen to get a look at the HUD? How much ammo was the player holding?
I dont remember seeing a hud at all, someone said they could make out a face on the hud but i dont remember
I dont remember seeing a life bar either
but there was a watermark that said "Alpha Demonstration"
or something like that
Looking that the Wiki, says that the new plasma gun is called teh Accelerator
Interesting. Wondering about projectile speed, I hope they aren't as slow as was showcased in the trailer.
the enemy projectils will be slowed down, they want the player to manuever in a maze of fire balls. Much like classic doom. My guess is the players weapons are much faster im sure
Sounds on par with reports that they want the game to play more like the OGs. Hope that doesn't lower the skill ceiling too much what with the introduction of the shield.
i hope monster count becomes the primary way to up the diffuculty mode like in classic. The whole "they just hit harder now" never felt fun or immersive
yeah, id like something as hard as eternal, or a bit harder than the beginning
looks very open in alot of areas, i wonder how theyre gonna make them difficult
because it looks like a "run and gun" to me
What if we don't get anything at Xbox direct at all?
we wait for either another trailer or game release
2026
Thoughts of killing myself🗣️🗣️
I'm thinking either Spring or Fall of 2025
Trailer or Game Release?
game release of course
because in the dark ages trailer they said the game is 2025
There's no way for a spring release without a real story trailer this year
I totally own this game so I'm here
Wat story? Shoot demons
0/10 bait
The story is that doomguy Can move light speed and also uses guns for fun and is also canonically married to isabelle btw don’t forget that one
well, doomguy is a marine, so i sure as hell would be surprised if he didnt like guns
make doom slayer a super killing demons
?
Hes literally the most powerful character in fiction
No
No
That i know of
Superman, me and kirby
Superman isnt even the most powerful dc character though
That isn't necessarily relevant
Also, doomguy needs his guns, he isn't some insanely strong guy who just wants humanity to suffer
He does not he just uses them to prolong the suffering of demons
Source?
And do you think he'd let humanity suffer and die just so some demons can go through more pain?
It would also be way easier to control the suffering of demons without guns
doom fans try not to gas up doomguy every moment they can challenge (impossible)
he clearly doesnt struggle with ripping demons apart when they are staggered
true lmao
i bet you can't point to a single thing in the source material that suggests let alone proves this
mostly because you probably "played" the games by watching a youtube series but that's not relevant
Ohhhh i just read about that
I thought i saw it in a codex entry once
Ive been playing the games since i was really young
Like 8 or 9
It being just a fan theory that is
Also nice pfp
yeah a lot of fan theories are confused as canon
like how doomguy apparently went back to hell in episode 4 just because the demons killed daisy
which is somehow believed even though there is only evidence disproving it
Honestly never really looked deep into the ogs lore
I mean you dont really need to be a genius to know its wrong considering episode 4 doesnt even take place in hell
Yeah
and after episode 4 he gets into a portal that sends him to the space station in doom 2
Yah
Bro what
wasn't episode 4 where he got kicked out of hell for being too badass
or was that the other episode
no, doomguy never really wanted to be in hell in the classic games
phobos anomaly?
he just, goes to hell, kicks the demons asses for killing humans, and goes back
and also destroys the teleporters obviously
Idfk I haven't played the classics in awhile I've forgotten the story
I mean at the same time there isnt really a lot of story displayed in the classic games
with the only "lore" being found in manuals and whatnot
And the doom bible
buddy dakota intensifies
doom bible is the early story tho
it has nothing to do with the games
Shit ur right
dude remember the weird ass theory from before eternal released where the betrayer possessed doom guy after he died in episode 1
iirc the end to e1 was just a thing that could act as both an entrance cutscene of sorts to hell and also as an ending to the shareware demo
But yeah there was this theory someone had from the first trailers for doom eternal
that tried to make sense of the story and connect it to doom 2016
also the first theory I'm aware of that was actually right (doomguy being the slayer)
yeah thats kinda set in stone
oh you know what would be cool?
this was probably talked about already, but imagine if you can hook onto giant flying creatures, since its a medieval game, it might have dragons, so you can get on them and somewhat take control of them or stagger them for a glory kill
Isn't it not gonna be as vertical as DE
Also the “glory kill” system is said to be completely different and not just the animation based ones we’re used to
My theory is there are no glory kills and they’re actually called something else
I'd like something similiar to Wolfenstein's "glory kills"
The game calls them combat takedowns
Because in the Xbox interview thing, Hugo is asked about glory kills and he responds without ever using the phrase “glory kill” instead saying there will be lots of ways to kill demons
ohh right you can like do them yourself or something
well that doesnt explain it, i mean theres many more ways to do them and it feels more interactive than just pressing E to GK
I think it’s going to be a different system involving the melee weapons that allows you to reap rewards from staggered demons in a number of ways with different weapons
Instead of just being health and just being an animation
Perhaps you can combo different melee attacks together for different resources from a single demon
ooh yeah that would be really cool
maybe a perk that gives health or ammo depending on what weapon you used to glory kill
I don’t think it will be a perk, I think that will be the major mechanic
Like that will be how you get resources
i get what you mean
yeah that would be pretty cool also, instead of chainsawing everything, you glory kill and it feels more rewarding
i wonder if theres gonna be any secrets, that would be cool, like in 2016 and eternal
I think they’ll call it something else since it won’t even really resemble a glory kill
fair
And also Hugo just not calling them glory kills and being very cagey about it when he was asked
Like it definitely sounded like he was skirting around the question
Which was “how many glory kills will be in the game roughly?” And his response was “there will be lots of ways to kill demons”
TDA is definitely gonna be a comeback from the DLCs (i know that its before 2016)
mmmm, that gives many possibilities
maybe being able to use friendly fire more against demons
To me that sounds very clearly like he was trying not to use the phrase
Because it avoids the question completely
I think the DLCs are rather good personally
even the second one is mostly pretty great imo
ah, i just saw the reviews and thought "everyone thinks theyre shit, but why tho"
might just be angry people that the dlc is harder
nah I think with DLC2 its the opposite
its a bit easier than DLC1
also both DLCs are in the high 70s on metacritic
which I would say means they were well recieved critically, though I know they are a bit more controversial in the Doom Eternal community
oh thank fuck
i did a tiny bit of TAG 1 after beating 2016 (i finished eternal before that also) and holy mother of god
punches are not held
but i guess its because 2016 had less verticality and such
well, i guess its more of you have more options to move is what i menat
yeah Eternal is a lot faster
TAG 1's first two levels are the peak of Eternal imo
they're probably my two favorite levels in the game
I don’t think TAG1 is controversial at all
It’s mostly TAG2 that got people worked up
And I guess TAG1 upset a few fans with its “nerfs” but I guarantee you that 99% of the people who complain about that have never even played the release patch of it and just parrot what they got told by everybody else, and then the 1% of people who did actually play the release patch are fighting a lost cause because those changes were not significant enough to matter, to the point where I’d say that’s the players fault at that point because if it felt that much harder pre-nerf to be disgruntled about it, that’s an issue
Always saw that as kinda like, people very desperate to prove they’re a hardcore gamer
I think the thing I can see the most is the blood maykr nerf but really the only issue there is they aren’t open as long, but they still do a lot of damage so idk
But TAG2 was genuinely mishandled, and I kind of blame COVID, but also blame their odd self imposed deadline
Naming that DLC pack "Year One" has been one of their worst decisions
doesn’t help that people just don’t check what they buy before they buy it
It's not even the first option in the store, people have no excuse to still keep falling for that
I think at one point TAG2 was at the top of the steam page, which was explicitly not the main game, but because it was the top it meant that people just bought it
The problem with TAG2 is the levels just feel so empty, which don’t get me wrong, was an issue in the main campaign to a certain extent, but having 13 levels there’s a lot of room for dilution, and also the fact it wasn’t expected to be too difficult, but expectations were set up for TAG2 that just weren’t really ever met
Like these levels on average are about just as difficulty as the late game in the base campaign was, that, alongside having such an overpowered addition to the players arsenal, it’s just not very engaging
I think it’s fine in it’s own right, as something you could unwind on, or in my case, speedrun, but in terms of like actually playing it expecting a huge challenge, don’t do that
TAG 1 is great. 2 drops the ball.
It just doesn't slap as hard. The levels in TAG1 are so good.
The final arena reclaimed earth is the best part of tag2
It's actually very fun, as far as I remember
The last wave will always feel tacked on, to me
I feel like it would’ve been fine if they didn’t try to do so much with so little time
I’m just not a fan of trying to squeeze the dark lord into a short dlc
It's just also a horrible name even without the time crunch they suffered because of it
TAG1 at release was utter hell
I remember playing one of the slayer gate things
TAG1 at release didn’t even have the possessed marauder lol😭
Dude what about the blood makyrs
those fuckers were pure EVIL on day one from what I remember
They were never that bad
Only change I can think of this some projectiles and stuff scaling in speed with FPS
the crucifix attack can go clean thru map geometry sometimes which is kinda fucked ig, but the telegraph gives you like 3 years to react and kill the enemy, in one shot nonetheless
Lore wise Doomguy uses guns for fun. In lore he once took down a titan with his bare hands.
^ hasn't read a single codex page
he doesn't lmao
he requires them to survive
can your sacred lore explain why he dies near instantly when attempting unarmed combat in-game
and the fact he needs several punches when taking down enemies in glory kills
why does a single fireball chew through his "indestructible" armor
dunno
you're referencing the sixth slayer testament, right?
all said codex says is that he probably used a "sword and shield of adamantine strength", not his bare hands
you clearly haven't read anything yourself, fraud
the fifth testament has this line: "The Titan fought with the fury of the countless that had fallen at the Doom Slayer's hand", wherein the expression "the Doom Slayer's hand" is just that, a literary expression
all that line means is that the titan had a taste for revenge
it doesn't describe anything about how exactly the slayer went about winning this encounter
all of the text surrounding this line has an archaic tone and said expression is just there to match it
it just means he killed a bunch of smaller dudes until The Big One got mad and started stomping around
fighting let alone killing a titan unarmed is a feat of enough importance that it'd make no sense to do anything but mention it explicitly. the text does not do this
i'm assuming you interpreted that line as the slayer having fought unarmed that entire time
but if you apply a little bit of reading comprehension, that isn't even implied
whereas "With sword and shield of adamantine strength" is an explicit description of his weaponry at the time
it only makes sense to conclude that he used medieval (possibly enchanted) weaponry, not his hands
the slayer getting glazed this much everywhere can only be a result of powerscalers refusing to apply even a little bit of reasoning and reading comprehension to their thought process, and taking every possible bit of lore and dialogue out of context and dragging it far beyond the limits of sanity and logic
which you have done here
Doom eternal powerscalers when they have to actually powerscale doomguy and not just write fanfic about stuff that’s never even been remotely been alluded to by any source material:
This is so funny
Because we literally see this man struggle to catch a crippled old lady in doom 2016
He's just a glorified master chief
The Doomguy variant from the Complex Clusterfuck mod can beat Doom Slayer into oblivion
Or the one from Russian Overkill
what 💀
Idk if it's legit to compare them with each other but those are the only Doomguys with insane gameplay feats
The first one can literally tank nukes if he has fully upgraded runes
lets not use the gameplay doomguy
That's all I wanna say tbh
Plus I dropped out of conversations like this 3 years ago
Ppl should enjoy the games and quit caring about power scales
Do you think the Slayer would be strong enough to take a needle in the butt.
We're talking like. A really big needle.
What month will the dark ages be released?
Unknown
so called ''Lore Doomguy'' is not a real thing
really?
yes.
how so?
a multiversal whatever being wouldnt have struggled to catch a crippled old woman
true
and you know someone surely is just fucking around when they say "hes multiversal" or "beyond creation"
they're not
people fight for their lives trying to argue he is multiversal and faster than light
😭
doom glazers trying not to glaze him when he gets mentioned anywhere :
"HE IS A MULTIVERSAL LEVEL BEING FASTER THAN LIGHT, HE IS BEYOND CREATION"
Doom guy is strong but he ain't multiversal
doomguy is weak i can prolly beat him
These powerscalers need to glaze the actual strongest DOOM protagonist instead (RoE guy)
Nah the REAL strongest Doom character in the doom series? The IMPS

So called “multiversal” character when Elena Richardson has a blood sample of him:
Create literal copies
My point being that if he was multiversal he wouldn’t be able to bleed
So-called "multiversal" character when Soul Cube (it's over)
Isn't he "multiversal" tho? I'm not a powerscaler so I have no clue what any of the terms mean but like doom has a multiverse and he does travel between the universes in the multiverse, which seems like it would be the definition of multiversal to me. Even if he is multiversal tho I'm still on the same side as everyone else, I still disagree with the constant fanboying over him and the blowing his power out of proportion. It annoys the fuck out of me.
In a powerscaling context, multiversal means the power needed to destroy more than one universe
...at least that's what Reddit says, I'm not an expert
That is.... extremely dumb. I don't really see how that definition fits that word at all but I guess that shows the intelligence of most powerscalers. Yeah anyway doomguy isn't even fucking close to that, and I have no idea how they try to gaslight themselves into thinking he is.
Doomguy shooting his shotgun at a star thinking he's gonna destroy the universe or something idk
The claim that he is multiversal originates from him having defeated the Dark Lord, who created the doom universe, or the fundamentals of it.
The problem is, we don't know how Davoth did that
and the gameplay and plot contradicts Doomguy being able to scrap with someone who is multiversal.
There's also the fact that Davoth was weakened when he fought him.
How does defeating some person change anything about how powerful DOOMGUY is???
Well
Technically if god had a physical form and the need to sleep, anyone could kill god, that doesn't make a random human multiversal
Because you usually have to be as powerful as someone who created an universe, you have to be as strong as them
Because durability is usually relative to their power
That's why you can slid Goku's neck open whilst he's sleeping
.....but you like don't tho..... You can be objectively way weaker than your opponent and still outsmart them. Take for example the predator movies, just because those humans "kill" the predator sometimes doesn't make them any stronger than any other human. They are still just a human. They don't just become multiversal after doing that. Doomguy could not destroy a universe all of a sudden after he kills Davoth. I don't really see how using the fact that he killed Davoth as evidence makes any sense whatsoever.
If you kill an architect it means you are strong enough to destroy the building he designed
Source: powerscaling
Not quite.
Whilst I agree with you that Doomguy is not multiversal, or anything of the sort.
You can't kill someone overwhelmingly more powerful just by outsmarting them, the predator is a building level character.
Him being killed by humans is completely believable.
Humans killing someone who can blow up an universe wouldn't be, no matter how smart they are.
Unless they get a plot tool that allows them to do so, like the infinity gauntlet or something
Being an architect is very different from being a creator.
Whilst I see your point, an architect designs
It's not the same as God saying ''let there be light'' and space coming into existence.
I just surrender immediately
I don't wanna be caught up in any powerscaling discussions
powerscaling sometimes is important for the plot, just because if you don't take it into account, the plot wouldn't make sense
In my opinion, Doomguy is not multiversal because neither of them is.
I personally believe that Davoth created everything using technology
It’s not really personally that’s true as far as I know
And since davoth had his power stripped from him, wouldn’t be a relevant factor, when the fight happens in TAG2 he is effectively a normal person with a hell mech suit
It is by no means an insane feat, let alone a multiversal one

Considering he needed the Maykrs to help him with learning about immortality he definitely did not create worlds with like a snap of his fingers or something
doomguy also kinda needed the divinity machine to be able to do all he did without dying several times
googoo

powerscaling is the dumbest thing on the internet, dont get into it
Stan Lee once said this,
The question Im always asked is who would win in a fight. Who would win in a fight if Galactus fight the Hulk, or if Thor fought Iron Man. And theres one answer to all of that, its so simple, anyone should know this...
The person who would win in a fight is the person the WRITER wants to win!
There's no point in arguing
🇹🇭
Half a year since the reveal trailer is crazy
Not expecting to see the dark ages at the game awards so that way I won't be disappointed
I have a theory about the Arachnotrons. Do you want to hear it?
Some Arachnotrons can be seen in the trailer for The Dark Ages, the Arachnotrons (as far as I know) are made with the DNA of the Spider Mastermind, then it wouldn't make sense for The Dark Ages to happen in the past, perhaps it's a universe that's being attacked by hell, but it wouldn't make sense for it to happen in the future either because+
+Because in the Doom Eternal DLCs we defeat the dark king, or something like that (I haven't bought it), so I have a lot of doubts.
Sorry if the English is rubbish, I use Google Translate.
I mean, the classic games are before the dark ages, dark ages is the bridge between 64 and 2016. we still had a mastermind and little baby arachnotrons back then too.
I’m guessing when Olivia pierce turned into the spider it was less of the actual spider and more of a mutation into the form of one. Now that I think about it I wonder how these boss monsters (mastermind, barons, cyber demon, the hundreds of icon of sins) even coexist despite seeming like one cohesive unit instead of a species.
Good theory, I forgot about the existence of Doom 64
can i get some help with something?
Yup?
how glitchy yall think this game will be
Based off Eternal, I'm thinking stable at launch with some issues here and there, possible dips and rises in functionality after its first few major updates, before climbing back to a more polished and stable state
Tho hopefully they'll have learned a bit after Eternal and it stays consistently stable throughout its support
I hope the soundtrack is more doom/black metal with some industrial influence
That would be sick
I hope we get more guns and pistol 🙏
I just didnt like that the guns are the same in 2016 and eternal
I dont think the modern doom games need a bunch of guns
1 or 2 more would be nice
Im assuming his arsenal is gonna be entirely unique though besides the super shotgun because of the setting
Same
From the trailer it looks like there will be a bigger emphasis on melee weapons though
So thats pretty cool
Guns
Pew pew stick
The gun that shoots skulls and the mech is cool asf
I like the new styles of gameplay we saw
The mech and A FUCKING DRAGON
Omfg it's gonna be fucking sick as hell
I only played single player
I don't like multiplayer games tbh
And tbh I don't play alot of games
I played Forza horizon 3 n 4 and burnout paradise and doom 93 that's it
We can still hope for a multiplayer alongside the single player though. Doom is luckily one of the only series where I know they'll still have a great campaign regardless of how much time they spend on the multiplayer. They aren't going to make their business model center around it, they're only going to try to make it fun.
it looks like theres gonna be more medieval styled weapons
like the mace and the shield, and the skullcrusher
nah uh
i made the game i do the rules
or maybe things that look..older
oh no... i could say smth but i no want ban
What are the chances of trailer release in TGA?
50%
i mean, speedrunners are going to find gamebreaking glitches no matter what
at least 5 freddies
??
What's that mean?
well thats intentionally using bugs
or intentionally trying to do them
a doom experience without any unintentional bugs is what we want
DOOM TDA? More like DOOM TBA, haha for sure
Later alligator
doom the dark ages was so good it made me realize the dark ages is the era we're living in right now actually
Given what's going on in the world, yes
what are your guy’s thoughts on the new hud? it looked pretty reminiscent of the old doom hud which is pretty cool
Is there a new image out or video out? None of the previous footage shows a HUD
check in #screenshots . this is apparently from the quakecon from this year that was showing off the new doom. someone drew it off memory
i can get the youtube source if you want
News is news
Interesting if they're actually going for the face hud in a modern game. Probably gonna be super off putting at first
Having health bars in the center will be huge
my thoughts too! itll be weird but super cool since the gameplay is also aiming towards the classic feeling
also true. its much easier to glance at
and it looks like the chainsaw meter is underneath the corssair, as well as being on the bottom left which is nice
it also seems like stunned enemies give a free lock on for shield bashing which is awesome
does anyone think we will get some gameplay at the game awards?
im rly hoping we can parry projectiles
that would be nuts
Please no scythe so cliche
I'm just hoping the game is quality. iD set themselves a ridiculously high bar with Eternal and the setting of The Dark Ages, as well as the weaponry revealed thus far have me concerned.
Mace and Flail are the only melee weapons we have seen, also the shield if you count it. I think the rest of the weapons will be more traditional, but Argenta tech versions of UAC norm (think GuassRifle/Ballista)
I dont think we see the Chaingun yet, or the super weapon to replace the BFG, as well as the Rocket Launcher. SOmeone said they saw the combat shotgun in the QC video but i do not remember seeing it
TGA is two days away. I doubt we get much considering that ad fees cost nearly 500k during the stream. Why spend that when you can just do it for free a month or so later
I've been so excited for doom the dark ages that I've been having dreams about it
So I guess the whole glory kill thing is gone in this game?
That's a shame cause I loved the kill animations
Does Bethesda have both IPs? If not, I highly doubt it's something they'd ever make happen. I don't know who published Space Marine so I can't give you a good answer. The only Warhammer game I've ever played was Space Hulk: Deathwing for approximately 1 hour.
First Time Playing Space Marine 2- Just seems like these Worlds would Collide.
They confirmed Glory Kills are coming back at QuakeCon apparently
slightly reworked as a system but coming back no less
heard somewhere that you can glory kill with the dragons and mechs but take that with a grain of salt cause i don't remember where I heard that
I hope the TDA makes the guns not just Sentinel reskins of the usual UAC arsenal. Though it seems the bone crusher gun and heavy nailgun impaler thing seem different enough
ESPECIALLY if weapon mods are coming back (hopefully)
The Plasma Rifle seeming relatively same-y was kind of to be expected though so idc much about that
I hope the SSG has something interesting about it besides now seemingly being lever action
like maybe actually giving the SSG a proper weapon mod duo
Even though i just said I don't want reskins a Maykr tech take on the BFG would be kind of cool
and I don't mean the Unmaykr
I imagine there would be a much smaller pool of animations for those if true, like maybe 2 animations per guy
What
I think they will be called something else
People are describing them as “glory kills” because they don’t have the word for them yet
I can imagine there being finishers for the mech sequences but it probably won’t be as frequent as what I guess people typically think of as a glory kill
Cause I imagine the mech sections there will be like 2 maybe 3 of them max
And they’d probably be pretty contained to an area where your just duking it out with a Titan
Oh you mean specifically in the mech? Yeah I wonder how that will play out I feel like it will take advantage of the improved demon damage system
Maybe you’ll be able to rip arms off and stuff
i think hugo described the new “glory kill” system as doing quick strikes on enemies while having full control of the movement, so you are not stuck in an animation
which could mean enemies are even more aggressive in this game, since you can cancel the finishers
it also might mean alot more creativity for glory kills
or, the new GKs
ya im excited to see what they cook
if anything im just so happy they keep changing the formula for each game drastically. take a look at god of war ragnarok and that game felt like a “1.5” more than a sequel to its predecessor
yeah, jus took everything and imrpvoed it
I hope it'll be more "actual" creativity and not just a 2d swipe of your weapon you can aim loosely
nah, it has full movement of your character
so its gonna be 3d, and probably not one of these
That says technically nothing against my fear
With "2d swipe" i meant like your sword going from right to left when you press m1
i know
Yeah so it's still the possibility of this

wym
When I saw this man.. I was so gassed
If it would be the simplest mouse move to make, a “2d swipe”
whats a 2d swipe?
im not too smart
Just moving your mouse from left to right
just moving your mouse to look?
But then to move your sword as the “glory kill” animation
oh
That would be boring
i mean eternal just made you click a button to glory kill which was fine
I’d rather just push a button and have a second to breathe, instead of having to make a boring (after a couple times) mouse move
If you change something, you replace it with something better
ohh i see what you are saying. ya that would be an awful design. and why would that even be a thing? what if the player does not want to perform a glory kill, and they accidently do from swiping their mouse
Well, a dead demon is one less to fight, but an unwanted animation gets in your way of enjoying the game
why would that ever be a design choice? was that implemented for an old doom game or something?
No, but we were wondering about the possibilities of the new glory kill system
