I think Assassin's Creed started the fall apart around Odyssey but the nail in the coffin really hit in on Mirage because they fired the lore guy

The Fella Whose main job is to research history use that research to build lore and find what he could modify to subtly slip in the assassin's, He was in charge of trying to make sure that there is historical accuracy that the game had a foundation for and didn't feel like a hodgepodge of stuff that feels like "the vibe"
