#streamchat

It's amazing that people manage to make drama out of nothing
Scrolling up it seems people told them it was just a test, but they then said
"no he's doing more streams on kick."
"he's said it, i saw the clips."
yeah you can look up the messages from this morning
i've already scrolled up. idk when it started.
Yes, and all that needed to be said was "No, this is not a permanent move" and refer them to the announcement
But instead, people decided to poke and prod at the user
People earlier did tell them that Thor has said he's not permanently moving to kick, they just didn't refer to the #streams post they were referring to what Thor has said on stream without posting a clip.
Granted i haven't scrolled all the way to the beginning of that argument so idk if they actually did refer to that #streams post or not.
Yes. I saw the people that did reply. But then they kept going. All that needed to be done was to refer the announcement post and say it's not a permanent move.
The more people poked and needled them, the less chance there was for them to want to stay due to the.....standoff-ish nature of other replies
were wernt talking about them this while ago
Well the response to them from some people here leaves...much to be desired
Especially considering that they were a Subscriber and not a random Green Leaf troll that enters here specifically to cause trouble
Thursday is still his regular day off anyways. So I dunno.
And now for something different.
Remember to ask questions about your food.
what bothered me is that they kept asserting it was a "slipperly slope" and due to that in their mind thor would definetly move to only kick streams despite him constantly asserting otherwise
Like: "What juices?"
beef juices
The answer may surprise you. It's actually mostly apple.
Are there other juices?
Why yes, there are, it lists it as about 80% apple juice and 20% assorted other juices.
that's like my preworkout saying the ingredients are a "Proprietary Blend"
Welcome to fun horrifying food of the US Government.
when we all know it's probably crushed up diet pills from the 70s and 80s.
the issue is. refering to the post in #streams would've probably had the same out come as saying that its just a test stream. like what people did earlier.
that person after they were told that thor has said that this is only a test and not permanent, replied with "he's doing more kick only streams, i've seen the clips" then they went on about morals and ethics which is like... morally and ethically Twitch has gotten REALLY bad lately with their decisions and moderation, they ain't no saint. All platforms have issues. kick is improving atm and is listening to feedback and is very quick with their support. And kicks moderation has improved big time since... idk exactly, but i wanna say ever since that french streamer incident is when they decided to start improving.
Look, honestly, the best part of these cans is the mystery beef bits that were too low quality to sell in the market, so they can them all up and you're lucky if you don't have 1/2-inch veins.
We had a restaurant down here that did filet mignon but would sell beef tip poboys from the trimmings off the filet for like $3
10 out of 10.
If you cook it right, you'd never know.
you had to pay for the dipping sauce though, which was like another $2
they get ya on the SAUCE
I swear people just breathe and they give shit. People need to go touch grass
If you don't, someone has to explain to the kids why there's something they think is a melty straw in their food.
we're talkin bout beef juice
Yea its a few messages above
(im choosing to ignore it and have a lovely conversation about beef juice and preworkout)
Making your own beef stock is the way, but im always too lazy and use the salty powder stuff that i cant spell
uncle roger would tell you to just add MSG
Bouillon. Yeah. It goes a few ways. My mother used to swear by the greasey gel kind and it was not all that.
I got a jar of that in the fridge right now
A nice beef stock. Reminds me I should make chili and french onion soup sometime sooner or later.
I think it's in my red beans and rice recipe. I'll have to look.
It works, but I dunno, doesn't have quite the right saltyness.
Again, none of this needed to be explained to the user as their obvious concern was clearly that "Thor was going to only stream on Kick"
Which has never been said by Thor, and a referral to the Stream announcement was all that was needed. And yet, more and more was added and piled on.
people that dont watch kick for other people are probably gonna skip the kick only streams, its gonna lead to this weird thing where your "missing out" on stuff that happened because your not saddling 2 platforms, if an interview or some game ends up being played on a kick day, non kick people will miss out, so either kick only days will be the same stuff and nothing new, or the regular twitch people will be missing out on new things if they dont make a new account for this one stream
I kind of wanna make some red beans and rice.
I do it in a pressure cooker so i dont have to cook it all day
FOMO is a hell of a drug. Me personally I didn't care to watch the Kick stream, I just did other stuff
Or as I call it, my potential house insurance claim
Honestly that sounds pretty good rn
dude come over. I'll make us food.
You could always just ask this discord or even thor himself about what happened on the kick stream
people like me arent gonna just be scared they are missing out, they are just gonna opt ouf the inconsistant experince
I didnt realize he did a stream. But i have notifications off. Im not sad about it, i just had a normal morning
But I also don't care that Thor did a Kick only stream. Like I really didn't care. It has no impact on my life and nor should it have an impact on anyone elses
Would that I could make half the things I wanted in my crockpot. Unfortunately, just not in the budget til I find work, so there's that.
Dude whaddaya wanna make?!
I got all kinds of money friendly recipes!
Because I also experienced the layoffs of 2025 and 2024.
I make some interesting cheese dips. Made some pepperoni dip. Cream cheese, sour cream, pizza cheese blend, pepperoni, can of BGO (basil, garlic, oregano) tomatos. Let it slow cook. Serve with tortilla chips.
Do you want the mac and cheese crock pot recipe?! Since you be likin cheese?
Rice maker. Veggies, sauce. Cheapest meals ever that dont get old cause you change up the veggies/protein/sauces
^also this, big ole bag of rice
lol, I've got more mac and ccheese recipes than should be possible. Have a cookbook specifically of them somewhere I think still.
hell yeah.
Throw in some brown rice for the nutrition if ya need that
most people are just gonna decided if they will or wont watch on kick before this do this
It's all like "Goat cheese and cranberry mac and cheese" though mostly. Weird pairings.
And their basic cheddar mac and cheese recipe is kinda half-assed.
I got super into cheese because of the family i married into (divorced now) never knew there were so many GOOD cheeses
Im a sucker for good/fancy cheese
I used to work at an Aldi's and let me tell you, I bought every new cheese because I wanted to.
Aldis the bomb
Can we all get together and have a charcoochie party?
Shame the raspberry wendslydale molded so quick, because that was pretty good.
Can heavily advise against the blueberry vodka cheddar though.
Imagine you took full grain alcohol and drank it. That was the taste.
ima butcher the spelling, but im a fan of gruiere
It was like everclear I think.
if people don't wanna watch on kick that's perfectly fine. i completely understand with who owns kick and their rough and short history.
i just like that they're actually improving the platform for the better and hopefully they can get ads and can get more features on the platform as features is the 1 thing imo that kick is missing. Twitch has a lot of features, which as we know break A LOT due to the site being old and running on Duct tape and glue.
I do hope and really want Twitch to improve tho. its getting bad lately with the moderation and other issues.
mmm cheese.
theres a soft cheese that im not big fan of, but it goes REAL good with garlic and herb crackers
also if you decide you dont want to watch in kick, dont complain about the consecuences
i cannot remember the name of it though.
at risk of starting another tangent on people not liking kick, but not everyone agrees they are doing their best
There's a lot of 'em like that. I remember we got this vegan cheese once and it was the nastiest cheese ever, but you put it on a slightly salty cracker and suddenly it went from 1/10 to a 10/10.
sometimes just crackers and cheese is good.
and pepperoni/salami
I love crackers and cheese, im a sucker for just basic triscuits and sharp cheddar
also this might upset some people but:
I reserve the right to judge some of the dollar store pepperoni.
I am sure is the worst, but ey
even tho i like fancy cheese, im frugal. so basic, big block of cheese for me generally. every once in awhile ill get the expensive cheese
usually just colby jack or cheddar
@nova bough ain't nothin wrong with a BIG OLE BLOCK
i do love feta in salads tho
I mean, it's probably fine, just conceptually horrid knowing what pho should be.
@azure finch I dont think there is even a vietnamese place at all on my city
There's a lot that's "technically fine", but also who wants microwaved sushi? (Frozen sushi typically has microwave instructions for thawing)
fresh mozzarella is
tho
i didn't say kick is doing their best. but they are improving, while being a much smaller team than twitch.
What's everyone take on babybels?
I'd have to look for mine, there's a lot of weird ones, but I don't think there's nearly enough variety still.
Bland. Could be better. Good for a quick cheese snack. Better if you use them for impromptu toasted cheese on a bagel.
i only considered them really when i was super into camping/backpacking
I also think they're overhyped
personally i dont see them improving at all, but i guess we can agree to disagree
Like mini-bagel and they're perfect size.
Most taste kinda off. The cheddar is bad, the others are "almost" the type of cheese they say they are, but ends up tasting like the most generic.
closest thing are indonesian and thai xD
i am lactose intolerant
Everyone I know in RL who's lactose intolerant has the same opinion. "Someone's going to regret this later and it's not me."
Also my favorite gas station snack is a tobasco girthy jim
My body is the furthest thing from a temple.
so many good things have milk
Sure it is, there's plenty of temples to hedonism.
i feel bad for a friend of mine. he cant have milk or gluten (not lactose intolerant. like allergy.)
i mean...i like those too. they are definitely different. but i drink them to cut down on the lactaids i take.
Yeah, had a coworker almost get violent when told to just use banana milk in their coffee.
oat milk is my personal favorite for drinks.
what the hell is banana milk
I don't know but we sold it at Aldi when I worked there.
A rare Aldi L
They basically make a mash, strain it and that's the milk because of all the starch or something I think.
also, plant milks wont set most desserts that use milk
^bam a
Rare? You have incredible misconceptions about the crimes they commited to food.
unless you do some weird shit like chia seeds. which can work, but its...weird.
I'll be honest, I don't know a whole lot about aldi
are we milking bananas now
at least for pudding chia seeds work (with oat/almond milk)
Anyone else not Check the discord today bc it’s Thursday and miss the stream?
I live in here
And the seltzer water? Yikes. "Candy apple, pumpkin spice, Cider-spice"
yeah i didnt check, but its fine. cause i have notifications turned off.
I didn’t think you would have missed it.
Like... nah, I'm good.
man i do love me some pumpkin, but....this is a bit weird, even for me
I like my pumpkin spice baked goods, but I'mma stay away from seltzer in seasonal flavors.
make sure you dont have the stream alerts muted ^^
baked goods and pumpkin mochas.
I forget what the other flavor was, but it was like sugarplum, candy cane and something else for xmas. Those were... a choice.
thats my jam. i genuinely look forward to october so i can get the syrup to make pumpkin mochas/lattes.
yeah seltzer is weird af
For reference, it's that little white packet of powder.
have you ever put a slice of bacon in your beans?
Yes, that's fine, that's normal.
if you havent you're missing so much
That white powder is not bacon.
i used to to do salt pork in beans
id just...get a regular bag o beans
Yeah, better that way to tune your preference tbh
Someone shows up with the chili made of green beans instead of chili/kidney is going to be in for a rude awakening
someone saw "beans" and did not think that through
Yeah, that pizza was a choice too.
It sounds really good except the green beans.
"Flatbread with mushroom sauce, white cheese blend, caramelized onions on top"
idk, green beans kick ass if you slap a load of butter on them
And then they put what's like, frozen green beans on it and they're just soggy.
or cover them in honey and pan fry them for a bit before they hit the plate
booosh
epic beans
minimal fuss
See, green beans are fine. On pizza though? I dunno.
hard no for green beans on pizza
Pineapple, I like it, it's a choice, it makes sense.
I could make a green beam cassrrole pizza that would slap
people dont realize that grilled pineapple is amazing
See, everyone likes one or the other, and it's "probably" okay, but they're also just frozen pizzas, so it immediately tanks.
blend some canned tomatoes with pumpkin and its just fine as a pizza sauce
Like, you made these outta fresh ingredients? Sure.
You could probably make some kind of sweet dessert pizza with beets
Maybe something like that dessert spaghetti where you press noodles from icecream.
Spaghetti eis
Yeah that, make a nice sauce outta beets and cherry.
I want some cherry-based salsa now. It's so good.
I'm just hungry I think.
Even despite the food horrors.
Cherry pepper salsa
From MAGGI?!
Yes <3
I love peach and pineapple salsa, need to try cherry now.
Yeah, I may have eaten 2 quarts of it in one sitting.
10/10 would advise, if it's made right.
I just like charred salsas
I wonder what thors reaction to this 🤔
Oh tts is still on twitch lol might need to sort that out in the future
yea. it was brought up to thor. the answered tts messanges from this morning were linking to an old twitch vod.
not to kick correctly

Yeah im lucky to hear my tts when thor pressed the button and managed to clip it
BEHOLD
My driest jokes
https://kick.com/piratesoftware/clips/clip_01KR17NTGS12FQ0F4GV04EGGAY
Really!
I've been pushing the boundaries with mine lately, Ill probably pull back a little
your name is enough no matter what
Replacing it is gonna be a challenge
Too much fun with it
Kick stream does not buffer, but the clips do because you can't change the video quality!
Also, I'm in the chat
so it would seem
We really getting a stream almost every day? Wild man https://kick.com/piratesoftware/clips/clip_01KR2TH1CPAKXM8XMEEWHJSJP0
And mirror is gonna be very angry about it.
Thor took Tuesday off. It's fine
twitch really trying to tempt us with duolingo subscriptions
this is a cool change, but why the tongue snatcher subscription?
good question, ask twitch xD
clouds are weird today
reality AI messed up there
ah I bring a nice son and music video, but starts around 0:46, marked it on the link: https://youtu.be/GxTk6OY08mg?t=46&is=AIFpO6Zj7WfrbNmt

New album 'Every Trick In The Book' available now on Fear...
inspired on animal farm
Is Thor not streaming today?
It's barely past the usual time, calm down
He generally starts anywhere between 5-10 minutes past
No one in the offline chat so just wondering if I missed something
No no, Thor is one minute late, that must mean he tragically died in a car crash
-# it’s probably related to what happened with Henry though
Oh no I did miss something
What happened?
Henry has been having a bunch of issues overall.
Part of being in animal care, especially running a rescue, is that you will live longer than all of your patients.
Luckily we have the swamp boys for this exact situation though
Sorry I forgot to wake Thor up hold on one moment
I lost track of time
I am fully mentally checked out atm
Its okay ❤️
thats ok. i understand.
Let him sleep in a bit
Yeah, let him sleep
You've had a lot of stuff happening with the ferrets lately, we understand.
Thor waking up
Tell him to take his time, we can wait however long.
we can wait for him to have some breakfast
That is basically Thor
But can Thor wait for him to have some breakfast?
probably not
No. No he can't.
Ai doesn't need breakfast
fair
Then I would get Mirror on stand-by to yell at him
!mirrortellatthor
o7
Good, day off
thor = dedge then, spelling says enough, let the man rest
With everything thats been happening thor needs the day.
Ferret stuff
reselt
Hope everyone has a good day see ya tomorrow
need an actual nights reselt.
yeah i think we can definitely tell, gn thor!
Brain hasnt reselt yet
does Kick allows you to watch VoDs
Reselt needed
yes
without an account ?
...we gonna have that turned into a meme for "Thor is exhausted", aren't we?
idk. i've never tried that
of course
only one way to find out
Maybe
Dang. Well, let him rest his bones
he really needs it
Mirror has to give them back first
proud of him for actually stopping
what happened with the ferrets yesterday ? i just woke up
Oh, you're right
Vet visit, ulcer
ooof
for the people who werent there yesterday: https://kick.com/piratesoftware/videos/019e017e-7bd8-7265-bf84-2bc5361e37bd
you can watch it without account
huh
i am hoping that henders pulled through though yarrLove
I am barely awake
tbf, that gif needs to be turned into a meme for the swampbois and chilli
Nope
afaik only 7TV does?
i have the userscript installed
and emotes are not converting on the VoD chat
thats why i asked
for some people emotes dont work at all
for me they work as long as I am not answering to someone
Kick emotes are a little strange and aren't saved in plaintext, rather converted to code as soon as they're entered into the chat box
i have a funny story
that ends in sadness
Also trying to put emotes into the tts redeem fills it up FAST
ah that explains why yarrDance cannot be typed out, you'd get the emote up for yarrD and then 'ance'
you can increase font size with the cogwheel at the bottom
i can't change that since i can't access chat options sincei don't have an account
the end
inreasing zoom helps a bit
yay
Don't forget to put in your steam controller reservation today at 10am Thor time (in 9 hours)
OMFG
KICK DOES NOT HAVE HOTKEYS FOR THE VIDEO PLAYER ?
oh, no apparently it does
it's just "J" and "K" do not work there
kick isn't following youtube "standard" i guess
https://kick.com/piratesoftware/videos/839eb8da-e7bc-4e04-8634-3952752eca5a?t=938
yesterday VoD's diablo starting time
its the same as base twitch (top is twitch bottom is kick)
i have extension to make it bigger
until i get my Sx eye cataract fixed
i can't see shit, captain
in this case, read
i usually have the chat at 16 px
also kick high contrast makes it easier to read
my example doesnt show that very well unfortunatly, because i did these signed out and twitch defaults to light mode
also on twitch i had to wait for somebody to send a message because there was no chat history
Twitch vods record messages as they're sent. Any message sent before you start playing is unavailable
I was supposed to be in a communication and presentation skills workshop and this is in one of the slides icant 😭
Kinda wished you immortalized another one of my quips, but w/e yarrLUL
it was the only chat message to appear after like 10 seconds of waiting
I have a need: https://fxtwitter.com/i/status/2052543251328929963
it's annoying tbh - I write "classic" and get a little yellow ducky which is cool and all but not what I wanted
the duck is shaking its head saying "classic" if you watch closely and on the twitch side comes from 7tv iirc. its a very popular emote on twitch to spam
Goblins
a legion of lego legolas'
legless lego legolas
Sister?
But but we share now the red sauce? And.... Ooo so we all big family?
I wouldn't call it a family, more like a horde. A goblin horde.
Or a chat of goblins
Is that what you call the plural of goblins? a chat?
a "mischief" of goblins iirc
No, it's chat of goblins per Thor
Watch the stream here:
https://piratesoftware.live
#Shorts #Twitch #Goblin
A goblin of goblins
nlg I like a goblining of goblins
A Hug of death of goblins maybe more apt with what we do in large groups
Really it's just a mess of goblins
Can we make it a pool of goblins so its atleast contained?
a death-hug of goblins
No, it's not contained or organized. It's a mess
I like that one
Soup of Goblins!
could be also just Hug of Goblins as its just accident 👀
advertisers need to find their own metrics to track and work with streamers
They do. It's called sponsorships.
Unfortunately all marketing is paid/budgeted based on how many people the ad is expected to hit. Sponsorships function the same way, just more indirectly
What do you proprose the metrics they should look at?
how do you know who is responsible for the botting?
track like unique codes
They already do that with sponsorships
, better fingerprinting on off twitch sites
They already do that with sponsorships.
just making a value judgment on the streamer and do a flat pay out instead of trusting whatever numbers that get fudged
They already do that with sponsorships.
I'm not really understanding your point at all. It's reading to me as "I want to do away with ads and instead have everyone get sponsorships"
That'll basically just screw over small streamers.
I meant for twitch. Other than views which I agree is a very imperfect metric, how would you suggest they judge the metric? I assume they already do a mix of views, engagement, growth etc. Not sure what else they should do
I guess it's still views but take the average over a span of time?
It all comes back to views anyway. Ad rates already factor in that a certain amount of views will be botted. It's part of the whole calculation along with category, demographic, and the like. That's why twitch is constantly fighting against viewbots because if they can prove the percentage of viewbots is lower, then they can charge agencies more for ad space
My thinking is to just accept the viewbotting variance because I can't really think of any good way to replace views
The twitch anti-botting solution makes no sense. If they have historical data indicating bots then they can detect bots and only remove that traffic. Applying arbitrary caps does nothing but open new attack vectors on streamers.
The real issue is that embeds should be abolished.
If they had that much confidence in the ability to detect bots, they could just enforce their own ToS and ban people.
if they're gonna punish people who are viewbotting, that must mean they know which the bots are.... so just don't count those as views?
Embeds as in streamers putting up their own banners/ads on their screen without going through Twitch's channels?
You haven't had to ping your partner manager because your stream pops to 200k viewers. This kind of shit is common even at smaller scale.
But you're blindly punishing everyone
Hmm I don't get what it's trying to solve other than punishing everyone so in hopes that some of those people who get screwed over are botters
that just sounds like twitch is gearing up to make itself undesirable as a platform to stream on to me
From experience working with smaller streamers: Alternate monetization avenues don't make you jack diddly. Ads are still superior
It's gonna be a really hard sell to the people Neuro raids on why they don't get the extra revenue from their channel growing 10000% in a day
It will definitely drive usefulness of bots down but I feel like it'll just unfairly punish everyone. Botters and non-botters
You have no idea how the streaming space works if you think a cap helps the channel. It will immediately lead to botting accusations, reduced overall ACCV which impacts sponsorships and adrev and many other financial and visibility issues for the broadcaster.
Considering how the swarm acts, I wonder if that counts as viewbotting
Twitch goes by 'historical data' so I would assume they're just going to deny any explosive growth.
Think about fake reviews on Amazon. How would you fix that?
For the analogy of fake reviews on amazon, would you cap reviews for ALL products whether or not you have proof that they're fake? That's going to punish a lot of genuinely good products/ customer service
I mean at least answer any of my earlier points if you don't like my amazon analogy. It's the same point. Capping is going to punish good/growing streamers blindly.
This also doesn't solve the bot problem at all.
Bots aren't applied as a giant burst. They are done gradually over time.
The cat and mouse game you think is being fought is the one that existed 4-5 years ago.
Most botting today is done through embedded traffic on third party sites.
Hell they even advertise this
No money is being taken away from bots LOL
I mean yes but you're punishing everyone not just botters.
This doesn't remove the incentive at all.
Like I said, if they could detect bot traffic it would be removed.
Instead they are claiming they can see it but instead will apply an arbitrary cap on views.
That proves they have no idea what traffic is bots and what isn't.
This doesn't right any ship.
It just caps views when bots are suspected.
It could just all be a smokescreen for Twitch pocketing ad revenue they normally would have to pay out.
I think that unless we have a good solution, Twitch should just try to play the cat and mouse game with botters.
Twitch also has a history of being biased and/or inconsistent in their enforcement (see anything relating to vtubers), so it's just going to make existing problems worse
twitch is just doing it as a marketing campaing trying to save face
Would love to know what this new metric is lol
CCV can't be replaced
they're gonna scan ur eyeballs and each eyeball scanned is a view fr fr
cool I have a collection
ah wait crap that's gonna roughly double views
How you see it doesn't matter.
How it is matters.
The botting space is dominated by real people seeing streams in embeds.
These occur slowly over the broadcast and do not result in immediate spikes.
People doing this have done it for years.
If Twitch is using historical data then they will not see bots unless it's a spike in traffic.
If Twitch can see the bots as they claim then they could cull only those views.
Yet they aren't doing this. They are applying viewership caps which also caps out normal real viewers.
This proves they do not see which traffic is malicious and which isn't.
That opens a path to abuse broadcasters.
Buy bots to hit them, cap their stream, watch the world dogpile that person for "Getting caught botting"
It's the same metric used by advertising for literal decades
I know we're in a casual chat and I'm really not asking you to pull up publications and references but man this is yet another non-answer from you.
I still have no clue what metric you want Twitch to move into from views
And if you're wondering if people viewbot malicious or not, yes they fucking do.
I think me and Steel have the same question
so that's tracking conversions then
Except Twitch allows embedded traffic of non-verified users which should be the actual focus.
None of that other shit matters when the main issue is embeds causing all of this.
Wouldn't bots have unique user codes? Aren't they real accounts? Also yeah if you hated Discord ID, then you're going to hate Twitch Real ID
lol. Especially when he was responding "Just fingerprint people to use twitch"
xD
now we all look like a bunch of weirdos with thsoe messages gone
you are a buch of weirdos, its ok
true
TBF, we already looked like weirdos
on other news, my second monitor just died
Give it a viking burial
"Your proof doesn't matter because I don't want to look at it."
How would that work for PC?
it all was downhill when they considered their opinion more important that the facts
my second monitor has a bunch of rows duplicating rows higher up / lower down of my monitor running through it
like 2+2=4 is not an opinion you can argue about
He was probably talking about digital fingerprinting, but it came across as the regular physical kind.
EDIT: Also: "Don't y'all have phones?"
mine turns of the moments I need it the most, sometimes goes green
I think bots nowadays are able to produce unique digital fingerprints no? Maybe the IP is going to be the same...
People are already pitchforking random streamers using browser addons that claim they can see viewbots.
Capping streamers because they get a spike in traffic is going to end in a shitshow.
https://x.com/ChrisHa91780763/status/1871056752378069309
@TwitchSupport @djclancy999 @FTC
https://t.co/WoDBsuTm62. Embed viewbot abuse eh? Very. #adfraud #FakeEngagement everyday
thank you for this
best case scenario is a marketing stutn and they wont do shit
people would probably also pitchfork streamers if the caps weren't there
pardon my french
Kick is looking better and better
people would pitchfork any day of the week if the weather felt like it
I would like to solve the viewbotting problem, I just don't think that was it
Twitch speedrunning failure
Twitch is just desperate to find a way to charge advertisers more for view space. The best way to do that is to make sure their adds are hitting as many 'real' people as possible. It's a losing game though
the language on the tweet let me think is directed to advertisers
"ey come back, we are totally fixing this"
If those ads hits bots instead of real people, advertisers still pay Twitch the same right?
Honestly, the best thing they can do?
Abolish embedded streams.
Without Twitch saying they're bots, yes.
no more stream on develop.games 😔
They pay the same, but twitch can't charge them as much per-viewer since they know a large percentage might be bots. They want to charge more per view
the moment kick ads adds, advertisers are not going back to twitch
unless they fix things for real
Does kick allow embeds?
wouldn't kick have the same problem tho
no idea honestly
Can you elaborate on embeds?
Kick has a problem with chat bots, but not really sure how they deal with viewbots.
Embed stream into another website so your viewcount explodes while people are searching the wiki for minecraft
I think it's whats at the bottom of https://develop.games
It's like how there is/was always an embed of the Fextralife stream on the wiki
Embedding your KICK livestream on your website, how-to embed your live stream, KICK.com livestream iframe embedding
A good example of this is the streamer Fextralife.
Their stream is embedded on every page of the fextralife wiki website.
Fextralife got busted doing embeds and now their channel is dead
it seems you can
That explains a LOT to why that wiki site is so bad
It's also a garbage wiki with old and incorrect data all over the place
They stopped streaming 3 years ago.
They haven't bothered to update it since they're not getting paid to do it anymore
It was still incorrect about a lot of things even when they were getting money lmao
I'm pretty sure Asmongold was instrumental in their downfall since he called them out on stream constantly
no idea who this person is
Probably for the best
Hopefully the Wiki.gg guys for Dark Souls 2 get the other games Wiki's up soon, that's been the most comprehensive and correct Wiki for DS2
souls fans are very dedicated
they got that soul for it
I am not one tbf, but I came from the hitless comunity and consumed a lot of souls streams
The Wiki.gg for DS2 is still fairly new (less than a year old) and they plan to get the other games up too
at least the other souls wikis would be nice
ah btw
today is Sir David Attenborough 100th birthday
(had to copypaste the name D:)
I was worried last night because his name was trending and I assumed the worst
a good news is nice now and then
The more I see the public discourse on this the less it all makes sense.
If Twitch can identify viewbots through historical data then why can't they strip only viewbots instead of just apply an arbitrary cap on views overall?
It's because they can't.
The viewbots people use
You know thor's mad when he makes a non-shitpost tweet (and every right to be, the twitch thing is mega dumb)
I am mad.
This is literally my every day.
Suddenly tons of armchair analysts are hopping in saying Twitch do good because viewbot bad.
They have no idea how any of this shit works.
Twitch is mega dumb every day, they just made a public statement about it
aw dangit, I missed the angry exchange
You can still be angry about it with the rest of us
really??!?!? twitch said "we mega dumb every day"??!?!

and people will fall for it again
they should
we can share the angryness
Wasn't that interesting. Just a dude trying to defend the new twitch thing and repeatedly saying the same thing over and over again without ever elaborating what he was talking about
he was like "I dont care about facts because my opinion is importanter"
alright
the most common one
Flashback to the "knock" feature and that frog guy
Like... I get the argument that, in a world where viewbotting exists, viewer count is a kinda terrible metric. But... There really isn't an alternative for that ad space
sorry If I am extra spicy today, had to crash my stream because diablo 4 issues and then with the monitor dying on me
Removing viewcount is an insane take and one I keep seeing.
How do you think streamers get sponsorships?
What is Dan Clancy doing
watching streamers with human dogs
the real solution is to make viewers answer a captcha before each ad fr fr ||/j just in case||
Same ol
Trolling around young girl's hot tub streams?
They just need to kill off embeds.
Agreed. And sponsorships are kind awful for small streamers because they either don't qualify or don't make the cutoff for them.
I can confirm xD
Traditional sponsorships have dried up since Twitch started the "Support a Streamer" trend.
Personally I like it more. Less contracts. No bullshit. Your community supports you.
last streamelements one I cared to look was a gacha game giving me 1 dollar for a new account that played 8h
Yeah, the stream elements ones are the ones I was talking about. They're kinda awful to hit the minimum before they pay anything
12.5 cents and hour haha make your viewers into slaves!
somehow I thought you meant the sponsorship was you playing the game for 8 hours for 1 dollar
ah no
but now I realize it was tracking conversions
No, you don't even get money for playing it. Your advertisement is free.
as in new players signing up with your code playing for 8 hours
yes
getting ppl hooked on them sweet, sweet waifu slot machines
there's slot machine waifus?!?!?
😳
Gachas use drug dealer tactics
Uh.... I think I've read that manga. Wouldn't recommend
I know about the vending machine one
I used to play one that was quite cool, big boobed vampires on castlevania aesthetic
silver and blood was called
Oh, that one. That one is unironically really good
but, will it vend
I'm still waiting for Thomas the Tank Engine as an anime
pretty acceptable system for a gacha
hey Thor would you recommend Linkedin for job hunting I see windows auto installed on my computer
it's like, not the best thing ever but it kills time and it's honestly funny to see how many vending machines have existed, at least I assume the vending machines are based in reality
why's he got sharingan and all mights hair for eyebrows
Because Japan
whats "Support a Streamer"?
I had to manage multiple companies linkedins. run.
every minute in there you loose some of your soul
Can't lose what you dont' have
all (and I mean all) job offers in tech are AI related
Unless you can get into soul debt
its the corpo pit of AI
ok then that seals that then
either train the AI, implement the AI, or use the AI 😔
yes
Many jobs on linked in are fake and reposted over and over again.
also true
Be the AI
Slightly better than tech recruiters that got paid off of pure numbers and didn't actually understand the job they were hiriing for.
at least that has human interaction
from what I can tell so far, the systems and things the AI can make depend on the quality of the engineers using it... vibe coded stuff is like, yea it works but if you look under the hood it's horrible
used an old laptop to make a rudimentary resume and now I need to get it out there
I actually got hired off LinkedIn. still a cesspool tho. glad I don't have to be active there anymore
which.... well that's just par for the course with tech debt
tbf the daily minigames were cool
it's better for investors to look like you are hiring rather than not have anythign open
it's like the old facebook games, but proffessional
Vibe coded stuff that the developer couldn't do themselves introduce so much technical debt yeah. It'll probably work but there's going to be weird bugs that'll cost you more time to solve. It also makes scaling the app much much harder and just introduce even more technical debt.
Eventually, there's going to be too much technical debt that you can't AI your way out of and you'll have to restart the whole thing.
Vibe coded stuff that the developer couldn't do themselves introduce so much technical debt yeah. It'll probably work but there's going to be weird bugs that'll cost you more time to solve
Exactly
listen it was the peak of my office day and its sad
I was better than 50% of the CEOs
Vibe coding small components does work but you need an actual developer who has a good CS background and also knowledge of the domain so you still bascially need a full-time software engineer
AI isn't meant to me
I can see it as being a shortcut to actually typing the code itself, but you need someone what would have typed that code in the first place to understand it before sending it to prod.
stackoverflow is embedded in the models now
I think primeagen described it best: AI is a multiplier. The problem is that some people are 2s, some are 1s, some are 0.5s, and some are actually negative numbers. So it doesn't make them better, it makes them worse faster
yet
when you had a problem, posted it on stack overflow and no one would comment, so you solved your own problem wrong in the comments <.<
That's true. It lets amateurs and bad coders produce more bad code faster
100x engineer fr fr
whatever that means
it was a great shortcut in my prev workplace to make blender addons for automation/features that blender didnt have, but if I needed anything more complex it was a hassle to have john ai make it work
it was -100 x engineer and you just deleted your company's main repo and all the backups
also, why are you making the thing is a consideration
I'm making a thing to learn how godot works
if I throw that at an AI I'll be faster maybe?
but I'm not gonna learn jack if I do that
is a results multiplier, but isn't a benefit multiplier neccessarily
oooo I can do that
:3
haha oops I removed the french language pack
I just thought of something that bothered me. I'll stray away from it if need be but Primeagen keeps saying he works for Netflix so why can't Thor say he worked for Blizzard?
if anything it can be a benefits negator
fyi am a fan of both content creators
is a results multiplier, but isn't a benefit multiplier neccessarily
Basically, yeah. You'll only ever get better if the AI gets better. Your personal skills do not change
one is queer
surely
It's tricky. Yes throwing in AI to make the boilerplate for you is going to speed up learning if the boilerplate is something you're already familiar with.
It's dangerous because that method may make you constantly skip stuff and produce many gaps in your knowledge that you may or not know about.
People meme on prime about it, just not to the extent since he doesn't have as big of a userbase. Also the mustache deflects criticism
also he uses arch
That's like someone saying your shirt is ugly and responding by immediately removing your pants
yeah im working on academy atm and when we get new guy to our department i always say to brake our matlab set first and then try to repair it
listen I would do it
oo that have some feet for sure
her name is Cupcake
You can't use that, that's my brother's nickname. He had it first
oo
but my name is Aavistus
I was talking about 'Cupcake'
is your brother a centipede?
Not currently, but he's flying out to Thailand for surgery so he might be one by the time he comes back
nice
BROTHER you did not say no to my claim
so cupcake is our other brother
good to know
He's open market, so if you want to share claim that is okay
dont sell our brother
I ain't selling him, he's free
Love him but sometimes he yaps too much lol
Yeah, he's in my folder of streamers where I like clips and videos of them but not actual streams. I have another folder of streamers that I like only when they're doing collabs
So it can't jump, that's fine
Sometimes even if you don't cheap out, you pay more than once. Like when my cat decided to knock over my brand new monitor because I was paying more attention to it than him
cats are dicks like that
Monitor stand fail
also is second monitor, I dont game or do anyhting there really
cats are dykes like that
I had to do this for the replacement
have they tried again, since?
Not as aggressively, no. But he walks on the window sill behind it all the time
watching...waiting
He's also just a big cat so it doesn't take much for him to knock stuff over
Intentional or otherwise
I'd clamp mine but it was a quick fix at the time and I haven't been bothered to get the clamps
They chew on the cords though... all of them are nylon braided now
Chewing isn't an issue. I have a spray bottle of bitterant and banana scent
I just have an active sound deterrent. Yelling
That doesn't work if I'm not looking
I just didnt get a new cat when my sweet Twylight passed away....cords are safe
my doggos have so many toys that they dont think to chew on stuff they shouldnt
My cat is smart, fortunately and unfortunately.
He generally only does things he's not supposed to when he's in the same room as me, because he's doing it for attention.
Buy a cat hundreds of dollars worth of purpose built scratchers and those a-holes still tear into the couch because cat
yup...reasons why i miss my cat... but not really
Now i just put up with 4 doggos hogging the bed
Heh. He's actually a pretty good boy about that stuff. If he wants to play and get attention, he'll try politely for a bit before moving on to more... empathic requests.
And will just slowly escalate
that's not bad at all Red
27 feet wow what a deal
i think i spent around $140 on my last one when its predecessor died
the way Kuhp and I have our rigs set up, we dont have room for multi monitors, unfortunately

@djclancy999 It's impossible for the public to verify a claim of 0.37% which makes this post harder to agree with. It's easy to find services that provide exactly what I'm talking about with embedded stream views through distributed online sources.
Why is Twitch counting views from any
You can't attack that man with logic. He only understands money and girls.
Does Dan understand money? has twitch gained any money ever since Dan became the CEO? Granted i don't think twitch made money under the previous CEO, but twitch's moderation was way better under the previous CEO even tho he wasn't public at all.
Dan clancy has made great decisions, but also very strange and bad decisions. moderation being one of those with how loose its been lately.
Just because he understands it doesn't mean he's any good at acquiring it. Not just the money.
I understand money does that mean I get a lot of it
Thank god competition like Kick exists
I am biased against Kick and I don't think there is much they can (or will) do to change that opinion, but I'd rather not get pushed to that platform because Twitch is nosediving into the ground.
I'm curious about the growth of Twitch under the previous CEO vs under Dan actually
Yeah I'm mostly speaking about competition and possible alternatives in general in case one of these platforms just go insane
I know... I'd just rather competition push other to improve and not act as a safety net in case one implodes
Kick would have to grow even more and then that's a possibility
Well, here's hoping
Unfortunately, competition like that takes time to build.
To make a wrestling analogy, it's like WWE and AEW. Don't think WWE actually is threatened by AEW yet. But it's an alternative right now and if they were to experience significant growth then it'll truly be an equal competition
I get it, just bemoaning how the world is rather than how I'd like it to be
Fair, I feel the same often.
It was already on a downward trend before that, so it's hard to say how much can be attributed to him
Downward trend was because of covid explosion
Thor, I think Twitch's mind is made up on this unfortunately
Yeah, it feels more like a correction than anything. Still not a good sign they aren't retaining more
I would attribute some of that to normalization post covid when folks were more comfortable leaving home, mandatory lockdowns ending etc. I'd be more interested in seeing what 2025 and 2026 looks like, but probably won't see that data for awhile.
Covid was such a weird anomaly for everything that its hard to say what is independent and what is fallout still. Twitch may have peaked in 21 but is the reduction just a stabilization from that or fall off from bad decisions? Almost impossible to say.
Exactly. And the economy isn't doing great either, so that also means less leisure time
EDIT: And money spent by corporations for ads too, now that I think of it
True
People returning to normalcy with outside the home entertainment is likely the reason for most of the decline. It's not like anyone really wanted to stay home for months (except Thor)
I would like to stay home 99% of my existence as well, but I must also go out in the Sun every so once in awhile
I hated staying at home for that long
Ironically, being stuck together 24/7 for two years due to covid actually helped my wife and I's relationship instead of hurting it xD
That's probably an outlier. Many MANY of my friends became single after the lockdowns ended.
It forced us to actually talk shit out that we'd been keeping in and we've been much happier ever since
Congrats, hope you have many more wonderful years together.
Yeah, I've seen that with a lot of people too.
That's what I meant by it being ironic. xD
That's rad, glad you folks figured out that bridge!
TY! We're at 20 years together now (only married for 4 though)
A lot of relationships bank on having a portion of their lives private, even in a commited relationship
Spending 24/7/365 with no privacy is quite jarring
Even if it's just the commute to and from work
Back to the story, so Dan Clancy replied to the embeds issue stating according to their data, embed streams only accounted for 0.37%. what do you think about this?
Bullshit number
So I guess they'll just provide a fake number and then sweep this topic aside sigh
Even if that number is true, that's still a lot of watch hours. Twitch Tracker estimates april had 1.4 billion watch hours so 0.37% would still be ~5 million watch hours. That's not a lot for the platform, but it's not going to be uniformly spread out
its kinda difficult as the previous CEO was around for a while including the explosion in 2020, but 2020 doesn't seem fair as that was due to the lockdown going on. but twitch was still growing prior to 2020, and since Dan has stepped in as CEO twitch has fallen, but how much of that is twitch naturally falling off or due to the world opening up back in 2022.
It may be accurate, depends on context. For example, Twitch has many thousands of streamers on it, how many of them have the access and knowledge to have a website and embed streams into it? Probably a small percent. Of those that do, what percent actually derive any meaningful traffic? Probably a small percent.
how is twitch shooting themselves in the foot today?
They're capping CCV for any channels suspected of viewbotting.
shitty moderation lately. using genai for category art. other stuff.
I got no words
Technically, you had 4 words
i'm both surprised and not surprised
With no real way to prove it, they're just stealing from creators that have explosive growth
i didn't want to spam dots which is more in line with how i feel
Absolutely wild thing to do. They're just incentivizing folks to jump ship as soon as a stable platform comes into being.
i mean would this affect the revenue streamers are getting?
it would affect ads and companies wanting to show ads on twitch due to lower view counts.
Capping CCV only feels like a valid response to the scenario of a streamer paying for the viewbotting on their own stream to defraud advertisers. In all other scenarios its punishing the streamers for something they didn't do.
btw how would this affect a small streamer getting raided by a larger one
or the ferret stream raid at the end of thor's streams
Heaven forbid the streamer in question is being attacked by malicious actors wanting them to get kneecapped financially.
Advertisers don't want to pay premium for ad space if they think a significant chunk are bots. So twitch can't charge them as much.
That's why they're doing all these weird changes/tests (pausing streams you aren't looking at, this change, etc.) is because they want to go to advertisers and say "Okay, we increased how many views are legitimate and so we can now charge you more for the ad space."
Probably not much. There's a system record of the raid and number of people moving over. That should easily be ruled out as a potential view bot scenario.
Iirc they did that with the partner program before
Or if Neuro-sama raids some small vtuber and their career suddenly explodes. Depending on the timing and the cap they implement, that can be a LOT of money lost by a small streamer that could really use it
but cutting off the view counts doesn't remove the bots... it just makes the streamers look less impressive view count wise.
if Advertisers don't like bots, this doesn't solve the issue.
unless the advertisers are ran by dumbasses
They don't mind if bots see the ad revenue, they don't want to pay for bots seeing it. If they cap CCV on a channel that is botting, twitch can say "See, we're protecting you" to the advertisers
It's basically corporate virtue signaling
"Look how fine and majestic my capitalism is!"
Stealing from creators with the goal of appeasing advertisers. Sounds great
Sounds like a perfect Dan Clancy plan
they are
Without a way to prove what is a legitimate viewer it's all just Twitch skimming off the top
also because reccomendation alogritms are a snowball effect, points of rapid growth are how most medium to large streamers form
there's a few Dan Clancy gifs in gif search.
Yup. CC careers are kind of like fissile material. It doesn't do much until you hit critical mass and then it explodes.
twitch doesn't really have a recommendation algorithm minus the front page, but most people i'd imagine use the browse section of twitch then just scroll the categories. the king maker system.
Even if they had a proper algorithm for discovery, those still usually favor those with explosive growth
not saying people don't use the front page as their are tons that do. there was someone recently who normally gets 100 viewers normally, then they got put on the front page and got boosted to more than 3k viewers.
iirc
Yeah, getting visibility on twitch just sucks. If you're in a category people care about, you need at minimum 50+ viewers to appear in the first couple dozen rows on twitch. If you are in a less popular category, you don't get new viewers because no one goes to that category.
Like, my wife frequently streams in categories where she's the top of the category but only because she's either the only one in the category or there's only like 2-3 other people.
this is why the best method is to stream in less popular hours so it'll be easier to be seen. Also if its got Drops.
And not saying its perfect because its not.
Right now, discoverability on twitch is basically only categories (which only works for the most popular streamers) and raids (and people tend to raid within small communities)
So your best ticket to quick success is getting raided by someone MUCH bigger than you. Otherwise, it's a very slow process
If you want visibility on Twitch you need to be visible off site. Twitch has zero discoverability for thr hundreds of thousands of small streamers
Ex, Thor using shorts, or people playing his games
Or I guess collab with large streamers
this is also why its best to use different sites like youtube, twitter, etc to grow on Twitch or Kick.
At least in the vtuber space, it's pretty cliquey so it's hard to get collabs with big streamers unless you're a friend-of-a-friend type thing
A large streamer won't usually even respond to a small one, let alone give them time for a collab
TBF, it feels like coat-tail riding behavior so I really don't blame any streamer not wanting to engage with it
@thrillhouse01 @djclancy999 It's not thousands of dollars and it's happened to me before. You are vastly overstating the difficulty of doing this.
The moment someone gets flagged for this and their views are capped it's going to be a shitshow of hate for that creator. The numbers don't even matter at that
Speaking of Twitter. they recently made a change to how they give out revenue.
Someone posted their monthly earnings and they made more than $6,000 usd on twitter the last 2 months. Saying twitter now pays them more than youtube.
Twitter is paying out to people reposting stuff that they didn't make in the first place. It's incentivizing engagment baiting

Twitch is straight up lying about the issue.
Tested and proven.
so....fextralife had no reason to quit streaming in 2023?
he fell for twitch's bluff
We literally just tested it.
yep
so, you're saying that for almost 3 years twitch lied about embed requirements?
Yes
no. its based on how good each tweet does for you. likes, replies, retweets.
sounds like something to call dan clancy out over
Honestly, the only reason I see them doing something like this is so they can somehow keep from paying out as much to creators by capping viewer count
100% that is my claim yes.
We just tested it and every one of the clients counted as a viewer.
All of them were viewing on incognito tab.
All of them saw a blank page with a 1x1 embedded twitch broadcast in an iframe.
All of them counted as a viewer.
its almost they showed of to advertisers "how much people watch twitch" and now they are realizing the bots dont buy things
"I had the feeling that was the case, egg"
and to try and appease advertisers to come back
its a "come back I have changed" move
You can see the moment their browsers loaded the page.

what did i just come back to lol, twitch were lying the entire time?
yes
Yes.
@GamingWithDaOpa @djclancy999 The parent parameter is an array. You can put as many sites in there as you like. At scale this can be used to dilute the issue. Not sure how they are actually doing it but this is a possible route.
this just in big company lies in 2026
Can you show me this account so I can compare lol, I remember elon once paid certain people extra....
which is just classic elon
here in spain we have a saying, thar roughly translates to "in the basement of your failure there is always another floor"
twitch doesnt surprise me anymore
I make like 100$ per payout on Twitter
6k is wild
Exactly I remember you saying that on stream sometime
Maybe you just aren't attractive enough for daddy Elon
I am 100% ok with that.
like what that account says. its based on engagement. the higher numbers you get on a tweet and of course the more tweets you put out, the higher the payment you get every month.
and actually your level of twitter blue sub no joke. as you can see by this screenshot. depending on the sub you purchase you'll get a reply boost. the biggest being from premium+
the reply boost basically means twitter is p2w. as you're paying for technically an advantage in the algorithm. although i hate calling it an advantage as its posting stuff on a social media platform.

Holy carp! That's outstanding! Way to go, fellow goblins!
I thought we already knew that places like fextralife were inflating their numbers by having livestreams embedded in their wiki pages? How is this news
Are people just arguing about it because it's you saying it?
I watched an asmongold video on it like 2 years ago and the video itself was even older
And to think. that's ONLY with 600 average viewers from a 12 hour stream.
now imagine what it'd look like if the average viewership was the twitch viewership of like 2.5k
And of course just imagine what people with 30k viewers are getting paid on kick
but. 30k on twitch brings in a lot of Ad rev anyways sooooo.
twitch lied and said it was fixed after it was found out Fextralife uses embeds on their wiki.
Honestly i just really am hating twitch more and more for political reasons. A certain streamer i despise (not asmon hilariously) gets special treatment even though he has said things that can actually get him in trouble with the fbi and I'm sick of twitch letting him get away with misinfo campaigns
So even of im... neutral negative towards kick, i might even have that perspective change due to sheer annoyance and frustration with twitch allowing Certain People to get away with breaking their own tos
is this hasan?
:]
he and asmon are the worst

And asmon's youtube videos are just him saying, "I agree with that. Actually, it's bad". Half a million views
Those Kick analytics are wild!
I do wonder how much the pay differential changes if you're starting off as a smaller streamer
