The staff found it perfect as sometimes the "prototyping" weeks can be slow weeks, so it helps with burnout

The server mesh tech is valuable. That stuff is hard to figure out. Star Citizen has been trying to figure it out for a looooong time. Dune is a decent example of it working fairly well, but also still has its problems.

Personally I think that Asian MMOs had a good idea with channel-based load balancing.

Basically as the user travels across different areas, it switches you between servers seamlessly. It means that the whole world isn't just on one server, making it possible to have more people on the same map for less strain on the server hardware

I'm not a subject matter expert, but the idea around server meshing is to be able to have a bagillion active players within a single world, but different sections of the world are hosted by their own server. This makes it so that you don't have to create separate instances for all these players to exist and you can make maps/worlds much larger than they would be able to be due servers being overloaded and potential hardware limitations on users.

It kinda works like this: In one area of the map, there's 2,000 players on Server A and in your area of the map, there's 1,500 on Server B. Both of these areas exist on their own server, but they can still actively interact with each other. If you wanted to move to Server A, you would just move across the world map without any kind of instance or load screens.

You as the player, if everything is working correctly, wouldn't notice anything. What's going on in the background is Server B is transferring your player data and actions over to Server A. This is the part that's really hard to nail down.

If you're within the border of Server B and you want to to fire a projectile at a guy that's in Server A, Server B needs to be able to seamlessly hand over that projectile data over to Server A so it doesn't cause rubberbanding effects or even make sure that the person you're firing at is in the position that you see on your game client.

So if you have someone that's already put in the Research and Development to make a system like that work, and they're not using it anymore (in this case Ashes of Creation), it would be a lot cheaper and time saving for you to acquire it off their hands rather than building up your own system from scratch.

No one is going to buy Ashes of Creation as a whole, it would way too much risk, especially given its current fanbase has all but written it off. Selling parts off that work to someone that's interested? Hell yeah, they're gonna sell that off.

i made this from the leftover inks. i don't like washing them down the drain more than i have to

Majority of the internet especially internet will insist you use pre-bottled liquid ones... but I super don't like those. They rot, dry up, decay too fast for me. The sticks will last you a lifetime if you keep them dry.

from experience, I much prefer grinding my own ink. The pre-bottled ones are made specifically for caligraphy's needs which is the darkest, thickest opacity

while with grinding i can make fresh ink as thick or thin as i want

of course with pre-bottled you can add water to dilute it.

The drawbacks of an expiry date is still there though. much shorter shelf life once opened

pine soot ink is bluish. vegetable oil ink is brownish. some makes are more brown than others

for example i have some Cao Su Gong style inks that are more neutral black than my Hu Kai Wen, which showed up on scans much browner

there are different grade of grains too. i have the 'training inks' that are cheaper, and higher enthusiast grades that are more expensive and finer

both have their purposes. sometimes i want finer tecture. sometimes i want rougher texture. the super high standards are those that sell scroll wall paintings and caligraphies
