Machine Learning in-game Bots

I always wanted to make "Smart Bots" but you figure out that they are not fun to play against. Sure, you may use them to train higher-level players but players will always act different. The best you can do is to use Machine Learning to generate Navigation Mesh with "Points of Interest".
In-game navigation started with waypoints in Quake and Half-Life. Now we have NavMesh with "seams" that mark positions to jump up or down, sometimes with good positions for cover. But consider this - use ML to create good sniper spots, hiding spots... all those generated when you compile the map. You can use it to analyze the map and generate heatmap before anyone gets to play the game (where will most encounters happen, best hiding spots, weapon type balancing...).
You can do a lot with "static analysis" that can be used by bots during gameplay. Each bot can have its "personality" by randomizing values like how well it plays, how predictable it is... and those can change when you kill X of its teamates.

With bots you must keep one think in mind - you want their runtime cost as low as possible because it costs you money to run servers.

The Seed

While Thor tries to deny existance of the seed, it is rare for anything to use seed-less randomness. Most implementations use pseudo-random numbers (easy to calculate, look random but can be reverse-engineered).

So yes, there is seed. But usually it is a global thing.
Still, you can manipulate it - this is sometimes done in speedruns (often on older consoles or games like DOOM 1+2). This means some client-side actions may "call for new random number" and depending on how many of those you do, you can alter the result. The problem is - you usually don't know current value and due to client-server delay and number of "new number requests" every tick, you cannot guarantee the outcome.

For "true random" values, you usually pull from "outside sources" like:

• Use input (delays and mouse movement)
• Wireless signal strength (WiFi and Bluetooth)
• nanosecond time (you don't have stable CPU frequency, same action will take different time)

Or anything that is more precise than you need to. In theory you can use ISO Noise from webcamera, current power consumption, microphone noise, USB response latency...

Another thing people are failing to mention is that it was a Tribute run meaning killing that boss would have affected the loot at the end of the dungeon. They had to run as soon as the boss was pulled
