One thing I really liked about old school raiding though was the fact that you could "figure out" the encounters without the need for addons or wasting everyone's time over and over again.

The problem was generally in coordination rather than tactics (with a few exceptions to make it fun).

I think it still is for the most part. Boss does mechanic, you read the tool tips or observe the effect and try again. Repeat as necessary to learn how to pass the mechanic and get good at it then prog.

Funny thing for me is that I switched to Intel after MY AMD build was plagued with a lock up issue I couldn't solve... and I deemed it to end up being an unstable CPU.
I switched to 14700F and patched it before I got it up and running. I made the Intel build before I knew the full extent of their plague. I was fairly committed to it at the time, and took the gamble. Thankfully I've had no issues aside from a possibly unstable OC 4060 which I since upgraded to a non OC 4070... and NOW I have no issues anymore.

Have you heard Thor say that he hasn't checked if the internet works when the power is out? He has a power generator. It seems unlikely that he wouldn't check if the internet works. He might do irl stuff but he wouldn't let the ferret stream stay offline.

It went out that one time for an unexpected region wide outage for several hours. Smaller things like storms don't usually knock them out

A generator is still going to have you sitting in the black for 30-90 seconds while it switches and starts. Maybe 15 if it's fast?

He's got no gap coverage. He's full black between grid and genset so everything is a hard start when the generator fires

I'm just saying, what good is an sla if they're going that often that reliable power at his end doesn't matter

I had unknowingly been suffering that intel issue for my last 2 builds. It apparently was also an issue in their 65W arch processors. I had always thought it was my video cards, but when I would give those cards away no one ever had issues, I never thought it would be my processor. So to try something new I got that same AMD processor and I have a gaming machine again

I'm also surprised why you guys decided to go with 7950X3D. The problem with 7000X3D chips is that if CPU has multiple CCDs (anything above 7800X3D), only one CCD is X3D, which causes additional pain in the rear when gaming.

There is an X3D-specific driver that detects Winblows GameBar and parks non-X3D cores. I bet you can figure out which cores are X3D and use smth like Process Lasso to pin games to X3D CCD and everything else to normal CCD, but it's a bit too much work...

but also I would honestly recommend to separate gaming and streaming PCs, and stream using a capture card, but I bet you have reasons not to do this so

I can see why he doesn't do this. Before the CPU nosediving to the ground, everything works just as stable. Crashes if any are because of the software, not the hardware
If the Intel CPUs didn't have this issue, the 1 PC stream setup would be just as stable.

Until the CPU started failing, he was stable. This is a hardware failure and something having a separate streaming computer wouldn't solve. You're assumption is that if the hardware fails it will be on the gaming PC and the Stream PC would still be stable for him to do things but the opposite is equally likely, the stream PC could have a hardware issue and he'd be in the same position as now.

A second PC is not necessarily an improvement but it is expensive and adds complexity to the system. The more complex the system the more fail points you have. Its not always a benefit to have 2 computers dedicated to different things.

well, there were a couple cases where either the game didn't want to get captured quite right or caused some interference with OBS.
Separating areas of responsibility, so to speak, would solve those issues. Honestly, I don't think you even need a full blown PC to stream, but it would indeed complicate his setup a fair bit.

Again, having a second computer would not solve those kinds of issues. Yes, sometimes games don't play nice with OBS, but capture cards also don't play nice 100% of the time. You're, at best, trading one problem for another and not really solving anything. Also, since OBS is used for more than capturing when streaming, most likely he'd still have OBS running so it wouldn't even be a problem trade, it would be a problem add.

"AMD 3D V-Cache performance optimizer" should handle this just fine. May need some changed settings in BIOS manually to work.
Haven't work on the big X3D with 2 CCDs myself, yet. But always when someone had these issues and ask on forums it was because the optimizer wasn't working. Rather problem with installation. So the reinstall windows from scrap and it works. Sometimes they need to change a few things in BIOS for it to work.

As I said: it will work, the problem is performance optimizer basically disables non-X3D cores when a game is running.
There's a better, but more tedious way: figure out which cores are on which CCD and use Process Lasso to manually pin processes to correct CCDs.
Jayz2Cents has a video explaining how to fix those issues you mentioned.

Yes, you didn't 3 the optimizer and do its work yourself: when you don't need extra cores - you pin processes to the correct core (say, bot and OBS go onto normal cores, games - onto X3D. This way no cores are parked, but you still run efficiently.
When you need multi-core performance - you don't pin anything, it will be a little lopsided, but it'll work.
