• Or a bug happened no one else has reported.

You can get XP from achievements, automations, chatting, and it can be given to you by server mods or people who have access to the /give-xp command

Before we start, let's configure the bot correctly and prepare a "verified" role:

• Go to your server settings -> roles
• Now, create a "verified" role (feel free to rename it)
• Locate the role associated with your bot -> Permissions
• Enable either Manager Roles or Administrator and bring it higher than the "verified" role.

Next, let's set up the verification:

1. Go to all categories' settings (or by channel if they are not synced)
1.1 Click on everyone inside the Permissions tab
1.2 Change View Channels to (save it)
1.3 Now, click on Add Roles and select the Verified role
1.4 Click on the Verified role and change the View Channels to (save it)

2. Verification Channel
2.1 Create a new channel (e.g. "Verification")
2.2 Next, go to this channel permissions -> everyone -> View Channel and select (save it)
2.3 You can make this channel disappear for verified members by adding the Verified roles -> View Channel -> (save it)

3. Reaction Role Message
3.1 Visit https://mee6.xyz/dashboard/ -> your server
3.2 Now, open Reaction Roles and create a new reaction
3.3 Now, select the #verification channel and give it the name "verifying members"
3.4 Next, use the message template to explain to the members how they can get access to the server

PS. This is the best way to avoid interference with the muted role.

Whoever has permissions within the server to assign roles must give it to you then.

It will vary depending on how a server is set up but there is a permission in role settings called "manage roles" anyone with that permission can add or remove roles from servers. Including the "overlord" role as you called it
