did you know that the membrane voltage does converge to membrane equlibrium potential and theres mechanism in, that makes our voltage never reach such ammount called leak term? if our voltage reaches threshold, leak term makes it go to reset(rest) value (in real membrane it happens via ion channels), and if we reach that threshold we treat it as spike, in code we make display voltage reach 0 which would normaly never happen cause we want display.
