As long as you don't play games exclusively using a straw
how do i motivate my self to do kovaak's
On monday nights, I have activities that finish at 9:30 pm that require screen use. What's the earliest time I should sleep to accommodate that?
hey guys what’s a good routine to become more flexible like i want to be able to do the splits
I want to get into calisthenics
make it a habit, something you do everyday and will feel weird without doing it. Use the benchmark to note your progress. Play actual games so you have somewhere to show off your aim
@violet swan watch kneesovertoes guy or get his program
i had a cramp on my right foot a couple days ago, and ever since then its felt considerably twitchier
like my toes are twitching more and shit
is this normal
Has anyone here experimented with any nootropics like AlphaBrain or other supplements like Neuronol? What were your experiences? If you had heightened performance or retention, did you see these benefits when not on the drug?
Asking specifically pertaining to aim training and other forms of video game practice
I guess anecdotes of other experiences could help too.
does anyone know good diets that don’t make you loose muscle? like i wanna loose fat but gain muscle, and i have a pretty good exercise routine but it doesn’t really do anything without a good diet yk
also does anyone know good ways to fix a sleep schedule cuz mines terrible, i usually go to sleep when my mom gets up for work
my shoulder is always tensed up while playing kovaaks
it's really annoying and idk how to keep it relaxed while playing
The ‘unhealthy’ way to fix a sleep schedule is stay up all night. Although i dont recommend this. Do some intense exercise through the day and lower caffeine intake, then just before you want to go to bed at maybe between around 11-12pm have a hot shower and make sure you get a good sleep
i did that back then but i don't use alarm so i slept for 14 hours
Lmao use an alarm then😂
There are two big things to focus on if you're trying to lose fat and gain muscle mass: total calories eaten, and how much of those calories are protein.
If you're going to lose weight, you have to eat at a caloric deficit. Period. There's no way around that. You can build muscle mass in a caloric surplus OR a caloric deficit, but need to be in a deficit for fat loss. However, you don't want to be in too much of a deficit because that inhibits muscle growth. Somewhere between a 10-25% deficit should be sufficient.
In terms of how much protein you need, a good estimate is 1 gram of protein per pound of bodyweight. I find it easiest to do meal planning for something like this where you sort out your protein macros first, then "eat around" that with regards to your carb/fat intake
As far as fixing a sleep schedule: don't stay up all night, it doesn't actually work all that well.
Start off by getting sunshine when you should first be awake, e.g. getting outside or, if that's not an option, using an artificial SAD lamp, in the morning. If you're going to have caffeine, stop drinking it by noon. Sometime in the early/midafternoon, do some intense (whatever intense means for you at your current fitness level) exercise. About 2 hours before you want to go to bed, get off your screens--no computer, no TV, no phone. About an hour before you want to go to bed, take a shower and do something calming (reading, stretching, journaling, petting a cat, whatever). Then turn the lights out and make sure the room is basically a cave--cool and dark
so I will need 600 grams of protein?
Do you weigh 600 pounds?
yes
Slight adjustment, in that case--if you're over 25% bodyfat, your protein intake should be 1 gram of protein per pound of non-fat mass per day.
I'd also recommend checking with your doctor before starting any particular diet or exercise program for safety reasons.
Ya I got weighed with my whole family and in total we were 600 pounds
I'm sorry CaitMcGeePT i'm just messing around but seriously do you have any specific stretches for Carpal tunnel
Does gaming really cause carpal tunnel syndrome? You’ve probably heard of carpal tunnel syndrome and how it might have ended the careers of many gamers. But is it really carpal tunnel that is doing this? Dr. Google keeps telling us it might be but today we wanted to settle this once and for all. THIS IS ESPORTS MYTHBUSTERS
We are going to use ...
Thank you
Even if it really is carpal tunnel, stretches will only do short-term symptomatic improvement. For both prevention and treatment, there has to be some amount of strengthening/work on endurance.
Wrist pain is by far the MOST common complaint I get when I work with pros and gamers. And the first thing they often encounter online are resources telling them to rest, brace, just do stretches! Sorry that’s not going to help in the LONG run. These are just methods for short-term relief. I’m Dr. Hwu and i’m the esports injury doctor and over t...
Here's a good general place to start.
@violet swan how do u do benchmark
wdym how do u do benchmarks ? just play the scenarios
best way to cheese each benchmark?
60cm for 6 sphere
110ow for ww3
37cm for 1w4ts
fuglaa has a set pattern, learn it
oh ?
rumor only
I'm grinding static rn anyway
lambie

@violet swan but i dont get how to do auto benchmark
also I have no idea what he means
Today is the day I change my life, well technically tomorrow, but same shit.
I really need to do something with my diet, I'm literally eating shit every day
good luck bro
Thanks
If I have pain on the right side of my neck and right shoulder after gaming for a while is there anything that I can do to prevent this from happening in the future other than lowering play time
I visited a doc already and she thought is rheumatoid arthritis and gave a medication for it but it only took away some of the acute pain and not the rest
I assume you have your arm elevated
when im moving my arm fast i lift my arm but most of time i leave it rested on my arm rests
Take a look at where your arm is as far as how close it is too you--is it out to the front or the side? Also, what height are your armrests at? If they're elevated above your bellybutton (roughly), you might be elevating that shoulder a bit, which leads to increased upper trap/levator scap/possibly SCM activation
We've got a pretty solid shoulder prehab/rehab routine that might help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjMu52XEX0I
This video can help with anyone who has shoulder pain with gaming or even neck pain. It helps to address some mid-back mobility and work on key muscles at the shoulder allowing us to maintain better overall shoulder positioning and relieve any pain associated with arm aiming.
0:51 ROUTINE STARTS HERE

It works on scapular and shoulder stability, as well as postural endurance.
And while I might seem biased, I'd recommend seeing a PT about the neck/shoulder pain. Unless a doctor specifically goes into orthopedics or physiatry, they have to know a moderate amount about a lot of things. Someone who specializes in the musculoskeletal system (orthopedist, physiatrist, PT, OT) will have more in-depth knowledge in that specific area and can give you more concrete suggestions beyond "lowering playing time"
But the fact that you're only having it in your mouse arm and primarily while/after gaming definitely makes me think it's a) partly postural/shoulder stability in origin and b) partly a factor of ergonomics and posture. And both of those things are very, very readily addressed with PT.
yeah my arm is slightly more forward to use more of my mousepad space
and arm rests are at belly button height which is even with the desk
also thank you for the advice
I lowered my arm rests and will try to see a PT as soon as I can thank you
@worthy cloud Im currently around 210 with 25% body fat(if that matters) Im trying to gain weight for sports basically around 30-40 pounds of muscle over the next 7 months should i do 2 days and take supplements like creatine im already taking protein daily.
When you say 2 days you mean 2 a day workouts?
yea
i workout with the football monday through thursday but I want to start hitting the gym everyday of the week
If its for sports then having a split cardio and lifting session one in the morning and one in the afternoon would be a good idea
How old are you?
16
Honestly 30+ pounds of muscle is unrealistic in 7 months
But since you're young you can put on a lot of quality weight pretty quickly
Creatine would probably be fine
Id try running a basic starting strength program and making sure you're eating enough overall
But also work with your football coach for since you're working out with the team as well
okay thank you
The hard part would be figuring out how to fit the lifting routine around the team workouts and I'm assuming your coach could help with that
Eating a proper diet is a lot more important than any supplement you can take though
Its also possible to over work yourself and become more prone to injury
My aim is usually shaky after my calisthenics workout for about a hour. Is there a way to reduce shakiness or is it just rest?
Rest, maybe a gentle cool down like some light cardio, get some food and hydrate
Gentle stretches
thank you i appreciate it
30 lbs of muscle is a lifetime goal unless you're juicing
When are the devs patching insomnia? I've been having this bug for the past 2 weeks where I wake up after 5-6 hours of sleep and can't get back to sleep
Any fixes?
Reduce light exposure before bed, ideally 3 hours before but that's extremely unrealistic for most people, so I'd say an hour is good. Don't eat any food before you go to bed, limit caffeine unless you're going to drink it early in the morning, make your room cooler. @rough wigeon
If you wake up, try not to let your immediate reaction to be opening your eyes. If you keep them closed and pretend to still be asleep I find I can go back to sleep easier
I always eat and drink before sleeping then i watch youtube videos until i fall asleep it takes like 15-30min
How high should my chair be?
Thanks for the tip, I try to do all of those, especially having a cooler room because my body turns into a 45 celsius heater once I'm asleep. I don't take in any caffeine. I'll try not opening my eyes next time
Also the light thing I haven't tried
I usually just do 20 minutes not an hour
@pulsar pelican Eating before bed might not prevent you from sleeping however it means your organs are working through the night when they are meant to be resting
It is unhealthy
45 is deadly tho pls don't
?
Re read his message I think you misunderstood what he said
Yeah Rypics I struggle to just fall asleep but if I wake up then I can almost never go back to sleep, I just try to keep my mind shut down and stop light from getting to my eyes when I wake up prematurely
Yeah, I used to have a lot of problems falling asleep when I was younger as well. The worst is when you try to get back to sleep and gotta take a piss 30 minutes later
Yeah I actually drink way too much water so I end up waking myself up numerous times in the night lmao
Is it "bad" ? Like what's the worse that can happen
I don't know specifics, I just know it's unrecommended
Alright
i don't think it's bad
unless it's starchy/sugary foods
or carbs
since it increases your blood sugar level and might make you anxious
This is bullshit. You actually build muscle while you sleep and having ample protein before bed aids in that.
Not all food are good sources of protein, thus not all food should be eaten before night as it can easily lead to weight gain. His statement is definitely not bullshit.
There are other factors and risks to consider as well that differ from person to person.
I’d like to chime in and say it depends on many different factors such as what kinds of food you’re eating, how many calories you’re consuming per day, and if you’re binge eating at night.
It is bullshit weight gain has nothing to do with the type of food you eat
It has to do with calories in vs out
Nothing more
Literally you can be shredded eating mcdonald's 3x a day. You wouldn't be healthy but you can be lean af.
Eating late doesn’t necessarily mean weight gain as long as you’re not eating at a caloric surplus.
No
Yes
The reason it has that myth is because people that eat really late usually binge eat which causes caloric surplus overtime
And thus causes weight gain
Yes
If your metabolism slows down, you will gain more weight if you still have the same calorie intake
The starve themselves all day then nobody is around to make them feel guilty then when they pig out they scarf down a pint of ice cream too
That is calories in vs out
Eating foods at night can lead to lower metabolism
Yes it can
Nope
@river path Hey
Whoops lol accidentally pasted the wrong thing my bad
You're not wrong
Being a sedentary slob makes you have low metabolism not when you eat.
But if you're going to eat before bed
Check this out it’s a good read, but normally as long as you’re not at a caloric surplus you won’t gain weight from eating late.
It shouldn't be right before bed
and
It should be some form of casein protein
which is slow absorbing
There's more to it than that. Because you still have caloric needs
So if you still haven't eaten the allotment for the day you're better off eating anything than nothing if casein isn't around.
meal time irregularity does lead to a change in metabolism
Now you're moving goalposts
We're not assuming that people are literally starving them selves when asked a basic question though
And that's only temporary
Your body adjusts very quickly
I eat 4200 calories a day
I eat 700 before bed
I'm not starving myself no matter what
But I still need those 700 calories
It still does
Calories in vs out
Is all that matters
You can't defy that rule
Ever.
Not even with all the steroids in the world
What your suggesting is a problem is for some but not all. It's the same as those that think intermittent fasting is amazing
i know its not for all
All it is really doing is making it easier for them to manage calories in vs out
doesn’t mean its bullshit if it doesn’t apply to everyone
Eating before bed is unhealthy
That was the statement
That statement is false
There was no conditional
i suppose that statement is not universally accurate
the opposite isn’t either
which to me was what you were pushing
It’s only unhealthy if you make it unhealthy such as binge eating high calorie foods
well i’m going to go sleep
quite ironic for me to be discussing this while sleep deprived
Man you're quite angry about me giving basic advice to someone who is having issues with their sleep
It was pertaining to someone having issues with waking up and not being able to fall back asleep
IDK If you read that far or not
I'm not angry if you're referring to me. I just don't accept misinformation. But no I didn't
Well, to answer Max’s question even though it was kinda vague it depends but generally no it’s not unhealthy to eat before bed unless you make it unhealthy by binge eating high Calorie foods and eating junk food. The reason it is not advised to eat before bed is because for the most part, people create bad habits and those bad habits are what make it unhealthy, not due to our body’s metabolic rates while we sleep. Now, assuming you’re asking if it’s bad because it can disrupt sleep is sure it can disrupt sleep. It varies from each individual, it can cause heartburn, acid reflux, indigestion, etc and cause you to urinate more frequently if you consume liquids before bed which causes you to wake up more in the middle of the night but like I said it varies drastically from person to person. Some people are able to sleep fine throughout the night without having to wake up from having to use the restroom, but others will have a problem with waking up too much to go use the restroom. I also wanted to touch on your initial statement “Eating before bed might not prevent you from sleeping however it means your organs are working through the night when they are meant to be resting”. This is misinformation because our bodies actually do both while we sleep. We burn energy while we sleep as we go through the different sleep stages (some stages burn more energy than others). Some examples are REM sleep actually causes our brain to exhibit activity patterns similar to patterns when we’re awake and requires glucose for energy to keep up with the brains activity levels and our metabolism rate increases. Meanwhile in stage three deep sleep it’s the complete opposite since the brains activity levels are low which means our metabolism, breathing rate, and energy demand begin to slow down. You can read more about it here: https://www.sleepfoundation.org/how-sleep-works/how-your-body-uses-calories-while-you-sleep
I hope I was able to clear some misconceptions up
Obviously your body doesn't just shut down at night
Thats called dying
I'm saying adding unnecessary stress during the only time it gets true rest is usually unadvised
I also never said or implied it had anything to do with metabolic rate
Eye drops
yo how can i fix my sleep schedule ? a after my zoom meetings i take about a 4-6 hour nap almost everyday and i'm usually up for the rest of the night if i dont fall asleep again for 3 hours and i wanna revert back to a regular schedule
ughh, Whenever I get into kovaak grinding for a few days my palm starts hurting a bit. Doesn't feel like any neurological issue, but for some reason there's just too much pressure on one part of the mouse (thumb side) (I use gpw). Any fixes to this/correct way of holding it?
remind yourself not to tense your arm while kovaaksing
@queen dew we are going to actually have an AMA at the end of this month (1/30) with our sleep specialist so we can help the entire community understand a bit more about sleep
I went for a run outside, going like 11.5 km/h, everything was fine. however, when i finished the run and got home, I started feeling some discomfort in my ears. Has any of you had symptoms like this before? is this normal?
it was like 16 degrees celsius out there btw
Fellow runner here. What kind of discomfort? Like the ear canal, or the cartilage that makes up the exposed part of the ear?
like the ear canal, not the exposed part
Were you wearing headphones/earbuds?
yes it is quite normal to feel that way after runs since the earbuds may have slipped too much into your ear canal, therefore hurtning it. nothing to worry about as long as you dont feel it after 3-4 days.
why is quark (warm chunky milk) recommended to eat
I feel like that would be terrible for you
ew
ty ty, it actually stopped hurting maybe one hour after my run so I think i’m fine
so idk how much this is health kinda but can anyone recommend a office chair thats mesh material for roughly 200$? I'm currently on a shitty dxr racer off brand chair and it mostly sucks cause of the back of the chair and seat sides but im looking for something thats good quality for the price and is comfortable and can help with back pain. If anyone has any recs its really appreciated! Thanks!
I've got a whole bunch of chairs in there at a variety of price points, some of which definitely fall into the range you're looking for
I fell asleep in bed without memory of how I got there
how do people usually have the rest of their arm with fingertip grip?
Huh
arm? as usual on desk.
hand, well, personally ring and pinkie hold mouse tight, and rest of palm not touching mouse, while wrist is on mousepad
another reason why i think ftip is best, because you don't have elevated arm as with palm (and if you'd want to lay arm with palm, angle on wrist is much sharper than with ftip)
yeah i was thinking whether like end of palm on the map or up and like whether you flare elbow, use pivot at end of mat and those sorts of things
For me my arm sometimes does lift up to provide more tension into my fingers for more reactivity
I do it with caution tho. i do tend to notice having this habit whenever im doing a reactivity scenario
Checked pinned messages but couldn't find anything about meditation. Does anyone have a good resource on someone who wants to start meditation?
well that's tensing basically
how do i fix cold hands?
warm them
no shit
i always have cold hands unless i put them in water and then eventually they go cold again
what temp in room?
but if you're thinn sexy person your hands are probably permanently cold so just... get usb/gas warmer for hands and use it often during gaming
could be bad co2 ppm
room temp is somtimes quite low, do electric hand warmers work as well as they should
The downside of electric hand warmers is that the only increase surface/local blood flow, and the reason your hands get less responsive when they're cold also involves deeper structures (e.g. muscles)
If the room temp is cold, something warm nearby isn't a bad idea, but you'll also want to do something to increase bloodflow with movement

Whoever told me sleeping 6 1/2 hours was a bad idea even if i feel fine was right lol
Its been over a week of me sleeping that way and it gradually gets worse feeling
Will be sleeping normally now
how do I sleep with better quality? Like I sleep 8 hours a day every day, but feel horrible when waking up and usually tired throughout the day
8 hours might not be enough for you
If thats not it use blue light filters on max on your phone if you use it before sleeping
Melatonin works too
I could try to sleep more, I just like waking up early for more time but I'll give it a go
and yeah I use blue lights on all my devices, my pc too as I usually use it before bed
Do you wake up at the same time Everyday?
If you haven't already solved your cold hand issue, you might have Raynaud's Disease, don't worry its not actually a disease. Now I am no expert but I have Raynaud's Disease so I know a decent amount about it, and I can tell you right now it is very very very annoying to deal with. My reason for thinking you might have Raynauds is because you said "I always have cold hands unless i put them in water and then eventually they go cold again", which is exactly the same for me. I often run my hands under hot water until it becomes painful and they end up red, in an attempt to get rid of the cold, sure it temporarily works but 1 minute later I'm cold again. Obviously don't do that but warm water does help temporarily. It is honestly weird, its not that i feel cold and I'm shivering but my extremities go numb, like frostnip. But why? Well, Raynauds is when your blood vessels overreact to coldness or stress and will narrow, reducing blood flow which causes your extremities to be cold and numb. What I mean by overreact is your blood vessels narrow much more then they need too, even with minor and temporary temperature drops, like holding a cold drink for a bit, your blood vessels will narrow. I won't go into too much detail but I'll link a couple sites. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do about Raynaud's, try to keep warm, be careful of ice cold things, and also stimulants don't help because they are blood vessel constrictors, but im not ready to stop drinking coffee and I need adderall for my adhd. You kind of just learn to live with Raynaud's, at least it gets better during the summer. I heard something about drugs that help open blood vessels, but I haven't looked into those if they even exist. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/raynauds-disease/symptoms-causes/syc-20363571 https://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health-topics/raynauds Sorry for poor quality.
Raynaud's is a rare disorder that affects the arteries. It is marked by brief episodes of narrowing of the blood vessels, reducing blood flow. I'm currently using an non-adjustable chair with two pillows for extra height and one pillow for my back since the chair is built like \ _ . What are the negative effects from a chair setup like this?
idk why you'd not listen and keep it lmao
yeah, I do
Yea then I’m not sure. Maybe you are one of those people who just require more sleep
i've read the oxygen advantange and breathing through your mouth in your sleep can make you have low energy and focus on the next day, maybe it's the problem for you but i don't know if it's like that because i never really do that in my sleep so I don't know its effects
might not be your problem but just adding it here if it's something you do in your sleep
yeah 6.5 hours isn't enough
but also sleep quality matters
some people require a sleep apnea mask to sleep properly
@copper jetty i dont think i have raynauds, i just think i have bad blood circulation and a REALLY cold house
at about 5pm when the heaters have been on my hands feel nice and warm then, just takes a long time to warm them up
@copper jetty thanks for help
breathing through mouth is bad, right. even during day, it increases reaction time lmao
well I've determined that caffiene has almost no effect on me besides perking me up for a little while and that my body goes thru caffiene super quickly
the only energy drink that actually gives me a real boost is bang
can someone tell me why this is
I know they use other shit from other energy drinks but I wanna know what specifically gives me that boost cuz I know it's not caffiene
maybe u like the taste that much it gives u a good mood
bang is like 200mg 🤔
it's 300
but I don't get a boost from caffienated drinks with similar amounts such as Reign
which also has 300 mg
I get smol boost from that
anything 160 mg and below
such as monster venom nos
nothing nadda
I've tried pretty much every energy drink I could find
rockstar rip it
bang is only one that has significant effect on me which makes me think it's not the caffeine
I actually used to think caffiene was placebo because I would drink coffee or energy drink and 30 mins later would feel so groggy I'd konk out
bang is sooo much caffeine dude. 300mg will have an effect on everyone
I think its almost like drinking 2 monsters
yeah. 16oz monster is 160mg, and a bang is 300.
drink 2 monsters next time and report back (dont do this
caffeine pills 🤔
Pills legit helped me get through workday when I had fucked up sleep
Caffeine immunity gang rise up. I'm willing to bet if caffeine has marginal to no effect on you that melatonin disrupts your sleep rather than aid it.
how so?
Trying to cheer this guy up, I’m really scared of what he’ll do
Can't keep comparing himself to people who have had more success when they've put in the work early. If he wants to get there, he just has to start somewhere and work towards it. Its like comparing a GM to a newbie in games.
A youtuber I watched used the analogy that you can't compare youself to someone whose on level 10 vs your on level 1
Wow yes that is very correct
I also thought that, the fact that he didn’t get anywhere it’s cause he doesn’t put the time into it, and other people do, still, kinda sad people think that way and force themselves to think they are failures
Yea I had a friend like that. Kept thinking his failures were just his bad luck and refused to take my help as a coach because he thought his "luck" wouldn't change.
Why does my right knee is numb and cold to the touch while as my left knee does not hurt?
and i have pain when i'm walking
Oof
someone
gib chair suggestions

I JUST WANTED A FUCKIN HYKEN
My lower back has been in pain recently - it feels stiff and exhausted and when i wake up in the mornings i want to stretch my hands to the floor to try and crack it - not sure if my chairs too high or my bed is bad quality (have ordered a new mattress in case this is the issue) anyone had this or know a potential common cause?
Hey @cyan rivet - I would start with this "medkit" article I put together to take alook at all the potential causes AND the expected impairments associated with different sitting styles
https://www.1-hp.org/blog/hpforgamers/1hp-medkit-low-back-pain-in-gaming-what-is-it-and-how-do-we-address-it/
Definitely with and older mattress it can lead to shortened positions of certain muscles if you are sinking in at your hips or if you are sleeping at your side with excessive bending of the hips towards your chest for extended times during the night. There are definitely alot of other things to consider but morning stiffness may not only be a result of your sleeping position but also a sign your joints might be developing stiffness as a result of your lifestyle and some physical impairments. (muscle stiffness, weakness, motor control issues, etc. leading to increased jt stress and associated joint stiffness)
I also actually just released a low back exercise "walkthrough" today
which is essentially an exercise routine you can do by just loading up the video and performing the exercises with the video haha. It targets alot of the expected impairments as listed in the article above. More general in nature but can be helpful as a basic routine for prevention or mild discomofrt
How can you relieve low back pain as a gamer? Try this exercise routine. This is a 10 minute routine designed to make sure your lower back does not hurt as a gamer. The exercises in this video target the common issues of stiffness, weakness and motor control which can lead to the development of low back pain. When we sit for extended periods of ...
usually the problem with people like that is they cant commit to something
they try so many different things to see what they'll be good at that they end up wasting time by spreading it out so much to those skills
Yeah, it’s sad
is there a beginners guide to counting calories ?
? read package, measure weight of portion, multiply
additionally multiply on 1.2 for imperfect measurements on label
About that
I live in a Chinese household and my grandma cooks rice and stir fry vegetables mainly
Do I need to find how much that specific Vege/ meat calories is on the internet
And just weight it
that's hard to count really
maybe somewhat count initial amounts
like how much oil, how much which veggies, how much rice
but honestly you need to count meat oil and rice, veggies are usually very non-caloric
like 20-30 per 100
but yeah, until you measure ingredients no way to tell aside from taking sample to lab which is well not gonna work
Oh god
Guess I'm just gonna start with the rice(probably overeating rice at this point)
what pills can you take to get rid of a headache if you have gastritis? i don't really want to use ibuprofen for example, cuz i think it may hurt my stomach
use ben-u-ron
most NSAIDs can cause this
well some funky only-cox-2-blockers can be better but idk which ones are like that
paracetamol blocks only cox-2 in nervous system so nothing for stomach
Celecoxib is the only cox-2 blocker which wasn't discounted for being bad for hearth etc
In 30 minutes we are going live on our AMA in the r/voltaic subreddit! We will be answering all questions relating to sleep. BE THERE AT 3:00 PM PST for a special surprise 😉

Loved it too
@foggy sapphire please do not not count vegetables
So many people don't count them its a horrible habit
We are glad you enjoyed it!
@formal lotus herman miller is great if you can get it used, but expensive
ive heard the ikea markus can be good
aight so i'm just gonna start with rice and meat
Is it normal to sleep for 12 hours straight regularly if I don’t have an alarm to wake me up
nope
is there a way to fix this
if your sleeping for 12 hours that means your most likely sleep deprived. try going to sleep and waking up at the same time everyday
Idk might just be the way you are, still worth consulting with a doctor but ive slept 12 hrs ever since i was a baby
if you're sleeping 12 hours straight regularly you might be having sleep quality issues
My left wrist is really bad, tonight I even have trouble sleeping cause of it. Considering going to check it out, but I hoped it would pass.
It started as just pain when my hand was like 90 degree. For a pushup position. I don't really have more pain when gaming. But tonight it just hurts more for some reason.
I'm also comfident I got this cause of pushups regulary after new year without proper warm up I guess, but I didn't do many, suprised it happend, I just hope it pass.
is 1 coffee a day in the morning 5 times in 1 week bad for your health?
probably not, but you may find that the caffeine isn't very effective anymore
I did a thing:
700 active calories, 30+ minutes of exercise, 12 hours standing.

Congrats, keep it up
When I'm training precise tracking scenarios my wrist is like shaking a little bit when im trying to be smooth. Any advice for that?
it doesnt hurts btw but its annoying (45 cm/360)
i mean you practice to be smooth and currently isn't smooth
at least that's how i interpret shaking and not stable tracking myself
I mean i dont know if its part of the process or its just me
most people are shaky
feeling little shaking wrist
until they are like good
it's hard to be consistent and smooth
maybe lower sens further to practice harder
I guess ill be practicing more
precise tracking scenarios are most difficult for me
It’s normal if you can try to not tense if you are and just try to remain as relaxed as possible
Also 45cm is pretty low you’re usually using your whole arm to aim pretty much at that sens and using your wrist for micro corrections
I see, tysm
I really need to fix my sleep, no matter what I seem to do, I only sleep like 4-6 hours. Any way to fix this?
Best way is to keep trying same time every night I think.
I should add, I feel fine on 4-6 hours of sleep, I just feel like getting at least 7 hours of sleep would make me feel way better
wake up at the same time always no matter what
and go to sleep as soon as you want to
Anyone have a solid stretching routine for posture
I have a routine, but I don't know if it's good.
I watch it for other reasons too, but I'll send it
Got a round back? With your head sticking forward like a turtle? Does your mom tell you to stand straighter? .. might be the case because your are sitting a lot! ♥︎/ Werbung
The typical "desk position" can lead to tightness and pain in the neck, back, shoulders, lower back and hips.
This routine focusses on correcting the sitting-position and...
If I don't sleep at least 7 hours tonight, I'm positive there's something wrong
Going to go to sleep at around 00:00, have to wake up at 8:10
it can take time to fix sleep hygiene tho
Why don't you sleep, is there anything on your mind? Not tired? Or some other reason? Also have you tried guided mediation? It helped me.
i am more curious if it's preemptive waking up, or problems trying to fall asleep
@cedar plover I don't have problems falling asleep, it's just that I wake up preemptively
Yo guys lately my eyes seem to litterally glaze over and lose focus while I;m training
any idea on why and how to stop it? It's affecting my scores and improvement quite a bit
I've had this feeling before. No idea what it was
not sure if this is the wrong place to ask, but im somewhat healthy, decent endurance and body fat%, so i dont really sweat casually
but when aiming/ playing kovaaks, my hand is a fucking ocean, is this a mental thing? i cant get over this shit
My only thought is nerves, but i really dont know what at.
And where i live is consistently 2-6 degrees, so it isnt heat
it seems to come and go but I've been experiencing it for the past 2/3 weeks or so.
hopefully it will go away on its owwn
Sounds like a focus problem, maybe. Have you tried switching up your routine? Different sensitivities, sens randomizer, new exercises, color schemes, different skill goals, etc? Or maybe it’s about clearing your mind before with meditation?
clearly feels like a focus problem
thing is
I'm super close to master
and the grind has become VERY repetitive
so I guess I just don,t want to do it lol
Do you think that changing colors would help?
There’s some evidence that it does; a study on NCBI I found a year ago. I change colors often.
You may be doing this already, but you could try variants of the exercises you’re grinding - extra small, or wide wall, or slightly larger but you push faster.
The way I figure it, the single most important skill we’re practicing isn’t aim; it’s flow
Does anyone know why when I'm playing an FPS game, I keep getting a feeling of disorientation. And if so, what's a good way to get over it? I never had it in the past, but I've recently been having this problem over the past few months of not playing FPS games.
@storm burrow is your fov too low? maybe sit in a proper position
I play 103 OW, not sure how it translates to other games, and I try to sit straight up, but I end up hunching sometimes.
I've ordered a sunlight lamp alarm clock
should be helpful for me since my room is so dark all day even with the blinds open due to weather
anyone else tried one?
have you changed any settings or hardware recently @storm burrow ? personally I get a sick feeling when using poor motion blur reduction implementation
Not really, maybe it's just because I haven't played in a while.
Changing my sens around too.
Should i be resting my wrist on the mousepad? Or is it okay that i am using my forearm as the pivot point and not supporting my wrist on my mousepad? I feel like track way more smoothly when my wrist is not in contact with mousepad. My wrist stutters my aim due to high friction i guess.
i would wait for 1HP people to answer this, but personally i consider it not healthy, though if you use palm grip resting wrist on surface creates huge angle
@cedar plover the gym is a good thing and it does help with losing weight. However, if you cannot go to the gym, that doesnt mean you cant lose weight effeciantly
well it kinda does, because eating 1400 instead of 1600 for same diff is much harder mentally
ppl often say that the most important thing about a buisness is that you start it
diet + gym is always better than just diet
thats not what im arguing
i try to do it but i am not motivated enough to starve myself or spend too much money on healthy food
im saying that you cant use not being able to go to the gym as an excuse to not lose weight
i can not talk about money
cause that varies from country to country and i still live at home
but you dont have to starve even if you eat low calories
and for motivation
i got very motivated from seeing progress
so if you keep track and everytime you feel down or want to stop dieting you look at how efficient it has been
also setting a date at which you end your diet is important
i don't really need an excuse tho, losing weight was never easy thing to consider myself failure or to need and excuse.
i would need either more money to get more vegetables which are not cheapest right now, or more time to cook from more basic ingredients to save on money and use them for veggies, or to hit gym additionally, or to eat "just less"
all of those options currently won't work out because i won't be able to handle stress from hunger due to work, can't burden myself with higher cost, and have little to no spare time to cook more than 60 mins per day
I lost 50kg without doing a thing, it's pure mindset and I think adding working out to it would actually end up worse for some people
It's just how the individual handles mental stack and motivation
Not worse as in poorer weight loss or whatever, but worse in terms of sticking to it
depends on fat% really
losing 50 kg on 50% and on 25% is totally different things
its hard giving advice without really knowing your situation
but generally things like chicked and eggs (with extra eggwhites) arent very expensive and are high in protein and low in calories
and high in volume which is the most important part when it comes to not being hungry
you can try to do small workouts from home which might not work quite as well as full workouts in the gym
but something is better than nothing
hm how long does chicken store in fridge without freezer?
im a dumb 18 year old
i live alone and can't just buy whole chicken or bunch of legs
i dont know that
don't want spoiled food really
we usually buy chicked breasts
i will try to get some today with shrooms
i've read they are decent for such things because of volume and low ccals
we eat chicken breasts with rice sometimes
i suck at rice cooking, i do pasta and potatoes usually
no
parboiled is the normal one where i live
usually you add rice to water, bring it to boil, maintain simmer without stirring and then let it rest for 10-20 mins
or just buy ricecooker lmao
no it's just
sticky and sometimes hard to scrape from bottom
i mean i could probably get used to making it
and improve
but i don't like rice that much to give a damn
lol
fair
i love rice
a meal my brother taught me to make is boiling rice, cutting meat into small pieces and putting that in a big pan
with some curry
and then covering it with raw egg and waiting till it becomes solid
gyudon is it?
i dont think so
beef rice egg
ill ask him what he did
cause he didnt really give me a recipe just told me what to do
i just remeber it tasting very good
and having insane macros and volume
i did same but poor mans edition
replace rice with potatoes + carrots
replace meat with sausage
fry it all in pan (veggies first, later sausage then egg)
eat
well i need low macros big volume lmao
that's why i love tomatoes
replace 50-100 grams of main dish with fresh tomatoes and you get same or more volume with like 30-50 ccal/100
or cucumbers too
peppers
that sounds smart
it has been a while since i really learned about all of this and cared a lot about my health
but these are some of the youtubers that i found helpfull when trying to lose weight

imagine not having a rice cooker
lol
i dont think i have seen a ricecooker in denmark
we are the anti rice cooker masterrace
@cedar plover btw i still do highly recommend tracking calories, it helped me a lot
yeah i will start
Ayo not joking daily masturbation gave me abs lmaoooo
rice cooking till grand master
lol
we really never get bad rice
i didnt even know that making rice was a skill
maybe we do it in some offmeta way lol
Well there's a lot of people who manage to fuck it up somehow.
like it's either too mushy, or it's still too wet.
Doesn't have the right firmness
Bearnaise sauce
with rice?
ye
Its really good
if you make brown sauce with cream
its insane
just cook a chicken breast in some butter and when they are done take the sauce of the pan and mix it with cream
then put some brown "saucecolor" in it
im already foaming from my mouth hehe
i eat rice almost every single day
can't live without rice 🥰
Hey o/
I've started the aim workout routines proposed on the server. I'm very happy to already see some improvement but i'm starting to feel some weird pain in my wrist and on my Mouse1 finger.
I'm very worried about RSI or tendinitis but I don't want to stop improving, is there any way to work around theses pains ? Are they normal and can be ignored ?
I'd like some advice 🙂
I'm not an expert , but that pain is a normal if you are using a lot your wrist (Is normal in some pro players and even in person who type a lot),so maybe you just need a little break for you wrist. To work around that pain you could use a less heavy mouse or you could use wrist sleeve.Remember to take care of your wrist otherwise you could develop the carpal tunnel syndrome
I've already taken a break from aiming and it got better but as soon as I started again the main came back ^^
I'll try using a wrist sleeve
Maybe if you’ve just started u need to build up the specific muscles you are using
Does anyone here have experience taking nootropics like AlphaBrain
Any anecdotes would be nice
What are some good resources that can teach me how to take proper care of my eyes?
@flint quiver What you're describing does sound like your muscles/tendons aren't ready for the load you are asking of them. It depends on what part of your wrist but this video covers strengthening every aspect of it! We cover both the stretching and strengthening aspect of how to properly take care of your wrists and fingers.
Nootropics are what I would consider to be part of the 70/20/10 performance rule. 70 % of improvement is from good nutrition, sleep, exercise/movement. 20% don't have as robust evidence but still have some, cryotherapy or pre-performance routines are here. 10% is the moonball or out there options. These don't have evidence for them so the chance of them working is much lower. This is where nootropics lie.
One of the best things you can do to increase your reaction time and improve cognition is actually sleeping better. 8-10 hours of sleep for 14-17 years old and 7-9 years old for 18-25. Some people do need more and some people do need less
Thank you for the information, it's less for reaction time, I already sit somewhere around 170 ms
So much better than average human
It's not really for focus either
I just like to test things out
Anything within reason to increase my performance
Totally fair, just be careful reading the label of a nootropic if you do go down that path. I would recommend prioritizing sleep before trying a nootropic if you are after performance gains. It sets a great foundation for any improvements you are trying to make
Yeah unfortunately I've always had significant issues with my sleep
Sometimes the issues go away for a few months
I'm canadian so I am biased but the Canadian Association of Optometrists has some solid articles here: https://opto.ca/health-library
Well I am also Canadian so it works out
The stream we recently did with Daniel Bonnar on sleep would be very interesting for you then! If you missed it here is an article we wrote that gives you the basics of how to improve your sleep: https://www.1-hp.org/blog/hpforgamers/sleep-better-to-play-better-sleep-and-gaming-performance-part-1/
I will read it later today, thank you
You're welcome! I hope it helps
I aim with my forearm angled inwards quite a bit instead of it being straight would that be bad for my health?
Depends on the rest of your body's posture but that could lead to shoulder issues
Guys guys guys every once in a while in the morning I would stretch (and flex some muscles in about every part of my body, even ones that I dont focus on on workouts) U know to stretch to feel more awake like those typical movement people do when they wake up and one of my leg muscles for about like 30 seconds would immidiately from out of nowhere feel like so unbelievably painful then it stops.. what is this called? Cramp?
Looks like a perfect opportunity for myself, for some time ive been trying to find the best wrist/aim position for myself to feel comfortable, throughout this my shoulder pain has been slighty increasing
its got up to a point that my shoulder constantly hurts or is uncomfortable to me,here i come with a question, are there any stretches that i could perform to decrease the discomfort?
oh and on the other hand,i've been on 42/360 and sometimes im forced to use both wrist and aim, should i go for higher sens amd focus on wrist aiming mostly?
How much vaaks is too much vaaks

in resources the health improvement routine talks about green tea but how does that actually help with improving im curious
How do I reduce my performance anxiety? Every time a game gets close, I start having really bad anxiety and this is really new too. I started having it like 2 months ago and now its gotten bad
@violet swan green tea is just a more healthy and natural source of L-theanine and caffeine
oh okay thanks
and matcha is the good stuff when it comes to green teas
why is cold shower trending for "good habits"?
It’s really good for building discipline
It takes a lot of guts to go into cold water and that builds your discipline to do the uncomfortable things
Also makes your skins less dry
most of them are good for stroke patients etc, without almost any good effects on healthy people
!commands
anyone ever just feel like they want to sleep early but never does cause you end up being too lazy to fall asleep
no but i sleep procrastinate sometime
known issue with high stress environments where people have little to no control so they just go to sleep late as a form of "i can"
I don’t even have any issues during the day I just don’t like sleeping
how old are you?
Is split sleeping bad? say i sleep 4-5 hours stay awake for 7-8 then repeat
there's no benefit on doing that
i never felt rested when i tried that
guys help
why does my wrist feel kinda hot after just 10 run of bounce 180 sparky?
is it a bad sign?
Will compression gloves solve my super cold hands problem in good weather?
(Not the weather just me having shitty circulation im pretty sure)
Hand warmers?
Its weird bcz im not cold at all but my hands are
Ok thanks mate
Do bluelight filtering glasses help with feeling more calm in bed?
I have prescription lenses with blue light filter
They seem to work
Not noticeably
If im on a video call you can see my glasses have a blue reflection tho
If they do it's way better than using night light
Can't see anything in game with f.lux
Harmful blue light is only a small part of visible light so you shouldnt be able to notice it iirc
Heal and recover.
Type as little as you can. Go and catch up on that Disney + or Netflix
Blue light bad
Would playing Kovaaks all day be considered overtraining? I don't really play other games at the moment and find Kovaaks fun so I've been putting a bunch of time into it. I usually quit/ take a break if my arm/wrist starts to hurt.
@storm burrow not really, just diminishing returns
Hey guys, do you have any advice for very sweaty hands? I struggle a lot gripping my mouse when this happens (more often in fortnite than in kovaak)
people say they don't notice, but i wonder how you can't notice hard yellow color
i can't notice anything but idrk about blue light and what it does and if it is worth
well if we assume it blocks it, they are good for evenings to not stress your circadian rhythms as much because blue light is basically signal that it's sunlight now
ok
so i should wear them from maybe 6pm onwards to make sure i can go to sleep easier and before that it doesn't matter
but not sure how it works if you see everything normally
it's not clear if they help for regular uses tho
if you see improvement - use them, no harm anyway
I sit in a posture whicu really helps me aim but its really bad for my back. Should i switch posture
Ok thx
Does anyone know if muscles in the mid thoracic or lower back could cause the scm to flare up?if so what kind of stretches I could do to fix it
maybe consider getting a hand towel for your hand?
there's surgery to fix sweaty hands i think
hand deodorant or washing hands often
Hey guys, i may be new here so let me introduce myself properly. You can know me as vinkur, i'm an undergraduate student and currently diagnosed with personality disorder called Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD). I've been reaching out a professional help in form of a psychiatrist and i've been prescribed daily drugs. I'm having a difficulty that my psychiatrist couldn't understand well, it feels like i'm afraid of being alone for the rest of my life. I know that is irrational and outrageous to think that, and i acknowledge the fact that human are all by their own, they live alone and die alone. I've been seeking help from a group of spiritual mentors but i cannot fully comprehend their teachings. I think it's worth a try to disclose myself fully on a discord server that gives suggestions on a particular health-related topics. Do you guys have any realistic approach on how to face the fear of losing people around you or being left alone with none people around to help? I want to overcome this fear real bad because it's been hindering me this whole time and i couldn't be able to focus on the task at hand daily. Thank you for your time to read this through and share your thoughts! looking forward to it. Thanks 🙂
Everyone has that fear but if it's hindering your life you might have underlying issues from a bad past experience
Such as abandonment issues or neglect.
Thank you for your replies. Thinking about it and recalling things, i think i might have experienced abandonment in my early childhood, or maybe in early teenage years (i couldn't figure the exact time).
how do ones cope with such tragedies of abandonment? i certainly lost the ability to interact with my emotion and cannot come up with a slight of idea to handle this thoughts.
in clinical settings they play with patients in order to rouse their imagination and playing is actually how they cope and go past through their struggles
like how painting can improve patient's psychological wellbeing
Ive been diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder as well, the issue your having seems like it comes from a personal experience and is made worse by your condition
All I can say is do your research and understand alot of issues can be byproducts of other underlying issues just keep digging deeper and learning
I see, perhaps it will be a "distraction" to the represented disorganized behavior by having an irrational thoughts and thinking. Thank you for the given insight! I really appreciate it!
Hey i feel you too. I have OCPD and overlapping with OCD (for those who might not know, they are different fundamentally). This past month or year (2020 of course) been putting me on a lot of pressure lately, i am sure you guys can relate too. We lost jobs, possessions, loved ones, etc. These psychosocial factor may worsen my condition and i haven't found a coping mechanism. I'm a gamer also, i bought Cyberpunk 2077 on release date and already finished it's main and quest storyline. I've put over 100 hours on there but now it feels like i'm depressed again and haven't been playing since last week or so.
Working towards long term goals is a good distraction
I did, and i am glad to know that some problems i have is intricate. It feels like my mind rolled up like a messy wire, at first i couldn't see what's the problem and it persist as a symptoms such as depression and anxiety.
Thanks for the suggestion, i've been doing it but i can't say i'm doing a good job at it. Can you suggest me on how to plan a good long term goals while facing this uncertain COVID situation?
Give yourself time
Just make sure its something you can realistically achieve
Or youll get demotivated quickly
stress and a very unhealthy diet will definitely aggravate it more if you're struggling with those two I think it's better to address those first but if not I guess there are other things to consider
I'm a final year medical student (yeah i know, it's ironic) and thinking about opting myself as a Neurologist. But the fear of me might not be able to achieve my goal is making me anxious most of the times. While trying to make a shorter term goals, i fear that it will not go as a similar way my already set bigger goals.
Okay, i'll certainly do this. I think i may start with planning my plan on a daily basis. Like a task-based routine to keep my mind at bay. Thanks for the suggestion Mystah!
Thank you, lately i have been exposing myself to a very unhealthy diet and lifestyle to escape my thoughts and compulsions. It's not easy to develop a healthy routine but i will give myself a try. At least i know what to do now. Really much thanks to you.
sleep earlier regularly for at least 3 or 4 days a week and give your day time doing medium to heavy task so you can rest better too at night.
at what time do you usually go to sleep?
"medium to heavy task" wdym by that?
like exercising?
@upper folio The best way to change the time you wake up is to force yourself to wake up at that time. Your gonna be sleep deprived for a couple days, but your body will adjust and after 2-3 weeks, you'll automatically wake up at that time
What should I tell myself to force myself to wakeup?
I always dismiss the alarm, go back to sleep. woop im late for class
That's discipline, you need to think to yourself is this 20 minutes of extra sleep really going to affect my day. The answer is NO
Maybe put your alarm across your room
so it forces you to get out
I do that actually
I go accros the room, dismiss, go back to bed. It became a really bad habit
i guess so too
because days where there's something important, I'll wake up early without going back to bed
Yep, honestly, I fixed my sleep schedule because of the Overwatch grand finals. They were at 5am so I had to get up to watch lol
Maybe, schedule something at 7:30 so force yourself up
any example
I mean idk tbh. Its very specific to you. I scheduled coaching sessions after winter break to get myself back into a good sleep schedule
Maybe a phone call with a friend or just play a couple games of whatever you play
One week i tried exercising for 1h right after waking up
but that was when I was waking up at 5-6am regularly as a challenge
but now i need to strenghten my will power to get back into the groove
Maybe ask a friend to do this with you if you have one with a bad sleep schedule
I could try.
have one already, my hand stays dry for just 2 seconds afterwards :/
and I could try hand deodorant and search more info about the surgery
Have you tried mouse grips ?
yes, near to no effect
@upper folio how much sleep does ur alarm give you
Around 8h
i see
its just a mental thing if you’re getting enough sleep imo, try motivating yourself by having coffee ready
try to stay consistent with the sleep schedule ig
If i try to make myself get out to the kitchen and brew my tea, it might work
I think I just need to get out of my room, but it's also the hardest part
My hand gets really tired if I play too much and then I can't aim at all the next day what should I do??? Should I try to get a lighter mouse and lower friction pad or what other options do I have?
@spice berry how heavy is your mouse
what pad
and do u take breaks
@upper folio maybe try to find a more annoying alarm and put it farther away so you have to get up to turn it off
@charred ravine 70 gram mouse, asus cerberus+ mousepad (pretty much an average cloth pad) and yes I take breaks
arm and wrist and I play fingertip grip
i find it less strenuous to arm aim more than wrist aim, do you mostly arm?
I play cs with 60 cm so I mostly aim with wrist but I do a lot of turning with arm
I think majority of the fatigue comes from my fingers stabilising the mouse
i use to feel the same way playing siege on 50cm 1:1 hipfire, then i change my hipfire sens and everything is fine but you can't do this in cs
I guess my hand will just get stronger eventually but I just want to grind
What are some ways i can fix my posture for like my shoulders. They roll forward a little so i think i need them back and up a little.
It doesnt hurt or anything but i was at the gym yesterday and someone pointed it out
not sure if this is a mental thing but i was playing at my best for a long time and until about 5 days ago i cannot seem to get a single kill at all.. its like i've just began playing the game (fortnite). i forget everything i've learnt, my builds are slow and i cant perform at all.. was wondering if there was any way to get past this
🍵 Smoothness routine
▫️ change your fov to 80 overwatch
▫️ increase your sensitivity by 10-20%
▫️ play precision / smoothness scenarios
▫️ we recommend playing it for 20-30 minutes
All issue-specific routines https://bit.ly/3cL4yU9
Doesnt get sore at all it just loses strength
Deadlift. Good for everyone.
Kinda
Not possible, mouse is too heavy and pad has too much friction to have any lighter grip than what I use now.
welp first of all did u change your sens recently from a mostly fast one?
and 70 g is light so u prolly deathgripping
I do remember when I originally lowered my sens a couple years ago from being a purely wrist aimer I had some really bad issues with pain in my arm, but I guess I eventually got the hang of arm aiming
also the idea that u cannot aim by gripping lightly is a placebo that u apply to yourself
@violet swan have you considered the possibility that I already grip the mouse with least amount of force required for decent control?
Maybe a stupid question, but does medication for adhd (like Adderall, Ritalin or Elvanse) affect your aim training in any way?
or rather aim improvement
you’d probably see more improvement because you’re more focused during training
🤷♂️
Where does pain in the upper back (between two shoulder blades) normally stem from when gaming? I feel like chair height but i dont know anymore lmao
what are stretched we can do before gaming
i’ve also been concerned about this, im starting vyvanse soon but i don’t want it to fuck up my training, i need it cause i actually have problems with attention/forgetfulness/zoning out, not for performance enhancement but i’m not sure what else i can do about it
nobody is drug testing you here so it doesnt matter if you get a small boost from the vyvanse
mfers gonna facetime u and interview u before they give u ur roles
"this mfer geeking no masters for u"
Exactly
For those of you that need adhd medication don't feel bad if you get a boost in scores since you probably need the medication for your everyday life
also dont think it makes u who you are or how good you are
I've gotten better since coming off my meds, its v possible
i didnt see a noticeable score decrease
when i aim for the past few days it feels like my arm is constantly micro shaking. Is this because of a diet issue like high caffeine? i work out but not intensely
Where does pain in the upper back (between two shoulder blades) normally stem from when gaming? I feel like chair height but i dont know anymore lmao
try lowering ur chair, mine happen when chair too high
You can try binding m1 to something else
It can come from a number of sources but looking at your posture like LeeJongkok mentioned is a great idea. We wrote a guide to ergonomics here if you want exactly how to position yourself https://www.1-hp.org/blog/healthy-movement/good-posture-better-performance-what-you-need-to-know-about-gaming-posture/
Tension during tracking can be from a number of sources. Two big ones are using fast twitch muscles(flicking muscles) instead of slow twitch muscles to track or, feeling pressure when tracking and unconsciously gripping the mouse harder. I would try regressing you to a slightly easier drill and just focusing on being smooth when tracking. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. That and some light hand stretches before you do tracking training
Too much caffeine could affect your arm but so can fatigue, tension, or pressure. If it doesn't resolved in a few days I would be more concerned and recommend you seek out a medical professional. Just to be on the safe side. In the meantime try less caffeine, sleeping more and some meditation.
here ya go: youtube.com/watch?v=c2dAcF51KOg
Is it ok if my back does not touch the back of my chair?
thank you. Im not convinced it is actually vibrating, but maybe i am tensing the muscles slightly and thats why i feel a slight constant movement in my bicep area
anyways
i've been doing some thinking, and I think I'm not getting the deep sleep i need
most days I wake up feeling as if I want more rest, just wanting to keep staying in bed. Throughout the day, my focus levels are down and I generally feel really tired after a day at school. Doing homework takes longer than it should because I keep getting distracted.
Then by the time I start playing some games, I get frustrated that I'm not doing well, and start auto-piloting(especially in RL. friends have called me the r word because I do rly poorly. don't worry, it's just chirps, they don't rly mean it). even in games like Apex, I lose easy gunfights that I shouldn't be losing. Trying to maximize my focus too ends up short-lived, and doesn't carry itself through matches
any thoughts/help are appreciated, this is a point that I know needs more attention from me
oh and also, my typical sleep-schedule is as follows:

For short periods yes, but I like to think of peripherals as something that supports your posture instead of making it harder. If you feel like you constantly want to be more forward on your chair consider a small pillow to fill up the space. Also, remember that your next posture is your best posture. Changing your position often, every half an hour ideally, is even better for your ergonomics than staying in perfect posture for a long time
It's definitely possible! Some light stretching of your bicep might help too.
Depending on how old you are there are certain guidelines for sleep. If you are 14-17 you need 8-10 typically and 18-25 is 7-9. It sounds like you could use some more shut eye.
We wrote an article about getting better sleep here: https://www.1-hp.org/blog/hpforgamers/how-to-get-your-best-sleep-sleep-and-gaming-performance-part-3/
Welcome to the last piece in a 3-part series on sleep and gaming performance! In this article, we’ll be going over how to improve your sleep habits for better health and better performance. Let’s start off with a quick recap of the previous articles in this series, where we introduced the basics of sleep physiology...
This is a great video covering both stretching and strengthening! https://youtu.be/JoedUZ4OpPY
Wrist pain is by far the MOST common complaint I get when I work with pros and gamers. And the first thing they often encounter online are resources telling them to rest, brace, just do stretches! Sorry that’s not going to help in the LONG run. These are just methods for short-term relief. I’m Dr. Hwu and i’m the esports injury doctor and over t...
i havea question i noticed while aiming sometimes my wrist feels extremely tight and it persists for a while what should i do
Consciously remind yourself to loosen up your wrist and try not to tense
I ain't no doctor, but yeah, I assume just get plenty of sleep, having a proper diet, be physically active, and stay hydrated.
Age also plays a factor into it.
I not sure if this is a really bad but I sort of developed this habit of not wanting to sleep, like I get so bored at night and I would do literally anything but sleep
do more stuff at day to get tired at night
so in your 20s you'd get 140 and less then
Go train with a expert martial arts
Human reaction time peaks at the age of 24, then declines after that point.
vrt != speed btw
Show me the studies
Typically studies of the effects of aging on cognitive-motor performance emphasize changes in elderly populations. Although some research is directly concerned with when age-related decline actually begins, studies are often based on relatively simple reaction time tasks, making it impossible to gauge the impact of experience in compensating for...
that's not a scientific study and the testing is flawed as well
show me a study from clinics
that's not a scientific study
xcuse me?
Explain.
It's not they aren't scientists or doctors
it's a social experiment and it's flawed testing, you have to show a decline.
There is no decline shown.
and btw hellmachine that was my avg
the range was 129-165
I'm not understanding what criteria you're looking for.
The authors of the report, and those who conducted the study are university professors.
nOt a dOcToRs
The experiment was flawed and it's not conclusive. It's like "game changers" saying being vegan increases performance
and that actually had DRs and scientists
but no actual studies to prove it
And I doubt a single anecdotal report from you disproves it and should be taken as true.
still didn't respond to my source hmm
again, we are not saying that younger person is faster than old person
rather than younger person is faster than he will be later
in pure vrt
Neither of these studies show this
bruh moment really
to show this they have to show a trained individual showing a decline
2.0–3.4 ms for each year of age thereafter what is this age cutoff? Let's say it's 24, we'll split the difference and say that's 15 years for me at 2.7ms per year increase
that would put my avg reaction time at 140.5
err 100.5
LMFAO
yea okay bro
You understand that a single case doesn't disprove studies aimed at generalizations.
yes it does
No.
lmao
There will always be outliers.
dude doesn't know statistics
You're honestly trolling.
no im really not.
i am out, cya
The only fact is the ability to focus decreases as we age, and not focus but to multitask with clarity.
humans don't multitask
So, you do believe that age-related cognitive decline exists, right?
keeping track of 8 variables constantly changing becomes harder
@queen fox No need for that.
Let's keep it civil.
So you recognize that our ability to process information slows as we age, yes?
Generally speaking, of course.
multiple streams of information yes
I can't say one way or the other. Because I've not experienced or read anything supporting that definitively.
So there's no studies for that?
oh then that's a lie
Link them.
The studies supporting your claims.
What claim did i make
link the claim plz
reply to it please
i"ll wait
or did you not process correctly?
🙂
So you DO believe or DON'T believe? I'm confused.
anecdotally my hbm vrt test scores are better now than when I was 24
( that is what you're all discussing? )
I also have a better monitor than when I was 24 so
Yeah, next time you try to make snide remarks like that riptide, you're getting a mute.
I never disputed it. I just said I've not experienced or read anything supporting it definitively. So I left it as possible.
what're you all talkin about
Well perhaps if you would not put words into my mouth
it wouldnt give me a reason to be snide
Riptide here sees no supporting evidence that age affects VRT. @worthy cloud
hmm
Is that correct, @river path ?
No, what I said I haven't seen any evidence to or experienced is our ability to process a single stream of information.
But I will also say now, There is no study that has shown an individual's response time to decline with age. Because there hasn't been a long term study done.
Like VRT? Yes?
It doesnt follow them for a length of time, so it's not definitive.
It's the firs tthing i looked for.
Then i saw their BS claims about 2.0ms to 3.4ms for each year after peak (24)
which means my vrt at 24 was just over 100ms
which is not possible.
yeah but you're not a doctor to say that comparing averages by age is not statistically accurate vs following subjects
that bases things on age
I'm an outlier by far then as I would score higher htan 99% here let alone the general population with no exposure to such stimili
and probably 2x the age
as ppl here too
yeah bro but how much do you bench
385 bench 685 deadlift 615 squat
honestly a lot of the studies around VRT seem to leave something to be desired
but I've not done any kind of deep dive
I'm not sure how much static VRT as measured by stuff like HBM is relevant to gaming anyway
For the study to be legit it would have to test people over time to show a change. Because training effects your reaction time too
Take a Pilot, Race Car driver, Martial artist at any age they have WAY faster reaction times than avg ppl
not because they had a faster reaction time to become said things, but because they kept doing it.
Yeah, that's why their relatively large sample size pools from multiple age groups, and they test to see commonalities for each age group. If the study indicates that older individuals generally (because science doesn't deal with specifics) have slower reaction times, while the younger groups are faster, would that at least suggest that age is a factor?
I'm not arguing about the rate of decline, just that there IS a decline.
Is it worth mentioning if you don't know how much it really matters though?
It doesn't.
it is always worth if it's statistically significant value
Well that's true to because I'm garbage at games these day even with a good VRT
yes but we dont know that value
Yeah, and you can have shit VRT and be good at games, too. So it really doesn't matter.
I have pretty great vrt and I'm shit in games lately
Riptide, I think you and I are on the same page, we just don't know it.
kinda seems like it
me too, but I attribute that to lack of focus and honestly discipline/passion to improve. Not aim or my reaction, still have okay aim.
yeah I went from structured practice with a team to hop on whenever and jump straight into ranked
Maybe
I think my problem with statements like you made. Is I expect people to read stuff like that and think of it as an excuse as to why they aren't improving.
So I just try to debunk it from the get go
I do the same thing when ppl bring up "proper" sensitivities for a game or hardware.
While all of that stuff matters, it's such a very very small part of the equation but it gets what seems to be 90% of the attention
I have the same tendency when people bring up genetics as to why they aren't fit or strong. When really it's just diet, sleep and consistency in the gym.
I expect people to read stuff like that and think of it as an excuse as to why they aren't improving.
unless it's stated, it is not stated
well each case is unique plus the fact that they use it as excuse doesn't debunk thing itself
there was a guy complaining about 20ms jitter, meanwhile bardoz plays with 40ms jitter
I agree completely, actually.
Hard work conquers all.
Everything else is just small factors in the whole equation.
well yes, but for say hz/fps/jutter it's also a comfort
i would rather play and improve with higher frames than not
I was talking about 20ms jitter
Oh that was you!
and I still think it's insane to say that doesn't matter in a 1 hit kill game with peeker's advantage
yes you can play around it if you're good enough
doesn't change the fact that it's handicap
yea
i mean 20ms jitter sucks but it's not unplayable, but when your input doesnt get sent for almost a second, that's not something you can play around
still doesn't mean it's irrelevant to not complain
people were owning on 15 fps with 10 cent mice in 1990s but
I dont think anyone would ever disagree. But @zealous pivot stated what my main point is I suppose in that hard work is the main factor.
it doesn't matter it's good way or comfortable to do
it's romanticising struggle
not saying that it's things that make me or else bad
but they matter in fun
which is primary thing in games
Hey there, I'm looking for the best back posture brace - do you guys recommend anything?
This a dumb question, I know hand exercises help with carpal tunnel and tendonitis but do you think hand exercises can help with aim, they probably don't help with accuracy but they would help with endurance right?
And do you think by stretching you hand muscles it can help with aim
how long to recover from an rsi? I played a lot of kovaaks on 18cm using my arim to aim. Now i am forced to pause my practice and my actual games. I have a persistent pulsing pain in my forearm, and its not caused by the gym or any workouts. Any tips for good healing?
Yes go to a Dr.
is it normal to feel slight pressure in the forearm when arm aiming?
what routine can i do that my right shouldern doesn´t hurt so much
a good routine for u would be taking a break
i was doing speed training and my tricep/deltoid/trapezius muscles started burning, but i just kept playing because i figured i was just working them out but my trap is still sore 3 days later
should i be worried
absolutely
make sure you find light strengthening/stretching exercises to target that part of your body if it's hurting continually
man
just typed on my mech keyboard after a month
feels like I have rsi or some shit now
make like 3 alts in val
get all of em to whatever rank ur main is or a rank below
and then play
that way u hardly care about ur rank
and u will play for improvement
When I do tracking scens or wide wall 3 targets, I start to notice a pain in my trapezius.(area circled) and I usually have to take a 3-5 minute break before I can continue the scens. I sit half decent and sometimes lean forward so that could be the issue but does anyone know any stretching routines I can do or something that can help ease the pain? It only happens on my right trap btw
i have the exact same thing
any way to fix it?
I guess you'll get your answer whenever the 1hp peeps have the time but it's probably a posture issue of some form as I have had that issue but it comes and goes
@silver yarrow I experienced that when I was putting to much force into my shoulder/tensing my arm when arm aiming
Yeah, I think its the position my left arm is, its kind of like a / but horizontally. I have it that way because of the arm rest but im going to try lowering my left arm rest and will update anything I notice
sounds good, hope that you figure it out 👍

@silver yarrow guy has a vid on everything
hey hey , each time i'm doing vertical aiming on FPS , and also on osu ( with mouse ) i have a locked feeling about my muscle on the blue zone , like i tense and lose all my accuracy , does anyone know this issue ?
how close your arm to your body?
while gripping mouse i mean
try to move yourself to the right, while keep arm as it is so that your shoulder drops
this way you won't have to move arm into your torso while moving down, rather do move wide motion
generally you want to sit right across display with keyboard being centered with you, and mousepad on the left/right from you
idunno still
i tryed with opposite hand and i don't have issue swith same posture
only left one
@timber hornet hard to judge from this drawing, but moving arm into your body is hard and restricting
can you just sit as you play and photo your arm with visible elbow?
