Just to be totally clear - waking up on the new planet with no ship means you ended the loop. You can summon your ship.

It was a really big advantage to have played perma or survival before going into this one. The milestones themselves were largely not too hard - it was having to do them on that difficulty that made it spicy.

Essentially, was fast for me because it was mainly just ordinary stuff (except anchor 4, screw that place)

To me it wasn't the difficulty of permadeath. I"ve started plenty of permadeath saves. It was the bugs and glitches. After I disabled multiplayer it was a lot better

I did find out it takes quite a few crashed ships to get the indium drive though.

If your only goal in perma is to get that achievement/trophy, you can do it in a few hours. You just need to get out of the mandatory tutorial, find a traveller so you learn the first glyph, and then do the portal trick.

avoid getting strafed by pirates on the surface of any planet, make enough units to buy the warp fuel to find the traveller, have decent shields so when the game drops you on a crap planet in Hilbert or wherever, you survive it, etc.... ehhh

sure!

so the idea is, in phase 5 there is a derelict you must run for the first of the three mmilestones with obscured titles

but it does not have to be any specific one

the trick is to get to your desired system before you start that milestone

so:

leave some other benign milestone from another phase like, oh

the crashed freighter one in phase 2

let's say you don't do that any you do everything else

up to the three last of phase 5

now select that phase 2 milestone

you're not going to actually do it but it will keep the game from trying to give you the derelict

go to any portal you marked along the route

drop in the glyphs of your "easy" derelct

once there, on a planet, in your ship, select the phase 5 milestone ("A Shattered Past")

lift off and pulse

presto, the derelict of the system will appear

it will have the same layout and hostiles as always but the end will not give a bulkhead or an upgrade, but the item from the milestone

I hope that's clear, if you pulse with the phase 5m ilestone selected anywhere else, you're going to get that "anywhere else" derelict so

e.g. if you screw up and do that in system 5 you're gonna get the system 5 one

so if 2 bases are as close as possible, and i have a teleporter chain, then i can walk the 10 units between the last teleporter exit in one base to the first teleporter entry in the other base and keep going 🤔

I don't know enough about chaining teleporters to say anything intelligent. I do have multiple bases on the same planet and I just use the regular teleporter to go between them

the short range teleporter requires you to unlock the landing pad (100 !! salv data) and the alt landing pad (10?) because they are first in the tree

so you might as well suck it up and get the real teleporter instead 😛

yeah so the portal network, you can think of them like phones. put the number into any phone, you get the same person on the other end. each portal network is specific to a given galaxy. so no entering a portal address from Eissentam into a portal from Euclid. it will send you somewhere in Euclid with the same address (like calling a phone number without the country code :-P)

Anyone else have issues with AP 5 ? I land at the hotspot and my scanner did not default to look for it and when I switched to look for it, it says signal too weak so I fly about 10 seconds in the direction it says and now it says the opposite direction signal too weak. rinse and repeat 7 times now

I see someone posted the anchor 5 portal coordinates as: latitude/longitude +7.03, +20.67 but not sure the easiest way to use that info to find it

With the scanner. I don't normally use coordinates myself.

Or you can use the glyphs and go through a portal to reach it.

Even if you're out of range, the scanner should at least give you the yellow arrows to indicate which direction to walk.

At this point, you can also look for bases that are near to the coordinates because every anchor has them now. I still just use the coordinates, though XD

They didn't show up for me. On my second save I used the cluster of comm balls, but then they made those invisible until you were RightOnTopOfIt so it didn't work anymore. By my 4th save there were bases.

You did have to get closer in your ship for them to load in I noticed

On my last few saves the comm balls didn't show up until I was on top of the anchor point. I think they disabled the scanner for the anchor point myself. I couldn't get any of them to scan with the ship.
