So I’m getting a bit frustrated with the expedition off a couple of reasons. The mission maker isn’t showing up even though I have the mission selected and I’m also not getting mulch I the way of new ship parts. I’m just getting all the older stuff not the Atlas parts.

Well depending on the milestone there may not be icons. Regardless, turn off multiplayer and you can avoid some frustration. As for new parts, they will only come from phase rewards.

It was okay. I liked the end rewards at least.
As far as story goes, it felt like a weak link, with a bunch of collecting items between that don't get used during the expedition and just take up space in my inventory. Collecting for the sake of collecting.
When it comes to mechanics, the derelict corvettes could use some variety, and there needs to be some management done with how the game or devs pick planets for certain objectives. If it tells me to complete an objective and to find a good source planet via scanning, then I expect the planet to show in the scan something indicating it's the right one.
Having a planet in a system have vile brood swarms detected, but then putting the tendrils on another planet in the system that doesn't show any indication in orbit that it could have them, is going to frustrate a lot of people. I spent more time dipping between planets and gas giant moons looking for specific creatures or materials than actually doing the expedition.

For the flyer, select the milestone and it'll tell you where to go. Once you get to the system you just have to check each planet.

In No Man's Sky there are yellow systems (lowest tier), then red, green, blue and purple (highest tier). Purples have gas giants - they look purple-ish on the galaxy map.

But looks like you just wanna head to Rendezvous 4.

Some were required to unlock milestones.
some of those milestones were unlocked but others were not, in particular the crystal Soulfire, Storm Crystal and Sea Galss didn't register.

Any ideas?

Just advice for the future, once you get to a planet and has one of those 4 fauna, in order to lure them, throw bait on the ground. Once they come closer, quickly adopt it.

Nope. expeditions effectively start you on a new save, and this one gives you everything to make a (basic) corvette within it
that being said, most of the rewards from this expedition are corvette parts, so they'd not get much use if you dont have a corvette on your 'main' save

I'm doing one of the older expeditions, and i need to kill pirates and i'm having a real problem encountering them.

You're forced to warp around with your freighter, so i can't get into any freighter battles.
They don't seem to try and attack me to steal cargo
And i haven't been able to get a 'kill a pirate' mission from a station.

I'm sitting in a pirate system now and i've been able to get a random bounty of someone flying by, but this is going to take ages if i don't find another way.

Any ideas?

When you are on the expedition, you can copy your ship from your primary save to your expedition save. The inverse is true when you are on your primary save.

It's not water floating and it's not wing flying.

If you have that miletone marked to follow, you'll get a prompt in the lower right hand corner that the creature is on the planet. Or a footprint icon while looking through the galaxy map.

Except so far all I've found is 2 flying creatures out of 4, and neither is the onenI need.

it shouldnt be needed to roam the planet. if you stop at an area, game will evntually spawn animals near you; you wait for a few minutes, checking for red dots. be sure to double check fauna spawn conditions in discoveries screen, in case there's any diurnal/nocturnal only, etc. you only move to a different area (of the same type e.g surface, underwater) to force the game to respawn animals

just goto the spot where it looks like they're flying the lowest, and just stand still. i've read that throwing creature pellets on the ground (quick menu/creatures/pellet) also attracts them (even though my previous experiences before exp20 didn't have the same result)

The game does try to lightly hold your hand but you have to look out for it. Looking for the depth of the ocean or a target destination, or anything that's ambiguous in distance? Stats in the bottom left hand corner note these.
If a mission is marked, entering the planet atmosphere should give an update or new task if the planet is correct. Ex Fishing, first you'll be told there's a planet in the system that has water. Then when on planet, you'll be told to attach a lure. I've noticed the game has little hints buried everywhere.

you are intended to go through the black hole in the r4 system, it dumps you in the right place.

the other black holes are unmodified so you have to tp back to where you were from those ones.

but since r5 is 2 jumps max from r4, I think that's intended

there are several planets in rend. systems with storm crystals but you do visit a gas giant as a rend. planet, so yeah just pick 'em up there

you could do what I did: select the milestone, make sure "current mission" is in the galaxy map, then follow the path, should be just a couple jumps from whatever the rend. system is for that phase. you'll get led to a system with a large pawprint icon, it is guaranteed to have them. some player base said "floating critters here" so I just went to that planet

on the planet I got mine, deep valleys, climbed to the top and waited for one to fly close enough for the interact button to appear...if you're under a few, just look up and one should come down close enough to interact with. also might take a couple of passes before you can adopt it once you've fed it

no real need for one. it's the rendezvous 5 planet - once you're there, open discoveries/planet/fauna list, and check for any unusual spawn conditions that you'd have to keep in mind, and just hang around, let the game spawn animals around you, once you've scanned all red dots in the area, move to another area , etc

I think it's RNG for everyone. Someone said there's different materials in each phase system you go to. After my second one, I was getting mostly sodium nitrate, faecium, some parts and chromatic metal here and there

as long as it has lithium on the list, you'll most likely find an area that's deep enough. if you've already unlocked fishing rig, you can cast your line at the surface, and see lower left of the hud depth below - use that to keep moving till you find an area

there's a bunch of suitable planets in the rendezvous systems, ou're looking fro ones that say 'vile brood' under resources. check discovery tab. in r3 there is Rihamsto planet which has them

expedition saves differ from Main save. They'll stay in the storage, but only on your Expedition save, you will have to move them over manually.

when I went to r3 point, I saw the worm burrough icon and sure enough, as I got close, still in my ship, the wormies popped out. so aat that point, I shrugged and got t owork. after shooting 6 from ship to get milestone (another burrow was close by) I finally got to go land at the rend point in piece and quiet. so to speak

scan all critters, I think I did this on the starting world, there were only 5. hit every damaged machinery you see. check inside of shelters and extract nanites from those devices. etc. etc.

I guess larval cores refine into them too, if you want to go on an egg collecting spree. (plus you got the milestone for biohorrors anyways)

If you glitch through a space station on teleporting in, and you can't get back inside but you can't get far enough away to summon your ship (because you're in the shell of the hull and can't pass through it) and returning to main save and going back into the expedition leaves you back out in vacuum.... Any options?

I am having this same exact issue. I came across one planet a while ago when i was doing a different stage, now I can find that system and each Diss system I come into, it tells me there are no infected planets. Traveled almost 6000ly to find them, can't.
