Switch 2 gets corvettes and the expedition. Switch 1 doesn't get corvettes so doesn't get the expedition but did get a 6.0 patch.

Did you not have the little Beam Aboard thingy off to one corner (the right as you look out the docking port towards space) similar to when you beam down to the surface? Only parked in 2 pirate stations but got that both times.

If playing on Switch 2, it's the initial release of Voyagers, which wouldn't have the teleporter in pirate and abandoned space stations for corvettes; otherwise, yep, they should be there.

Although - a weird caveat. I hadn't installed the Switch 2 upgrade pack so technically I was playing the Switch 1 version on Switch 2 so I had a corvette but no multiplayer.
Anyway, as you face out to space, it was off to the right behind a gek.
I should point out - my ship wouldn't land inside the station. It kept getting stuck outside and beaming me in when I tried to land.
And that was only on Pirate stations, but it was consistent

I feel like there's a disconnect here. This is the teleporter we are talking about. It makes it so you don't have to walk really far on normal space stations, but it does not exist on pirate space stations.

Also doesn't exist on abandoned space stations

for now the sessions are about 2 hours long, so i thought starting with expedition, gives him the chance to see quite some things, and decide if the game is something for longterm for him...

I can't. Or couldn't. Bet it works next time I'm in front of my s2. But up to now, attempted landing has done a weird approach-stop-forced beam thing and it sticks the beam-me-up terminal (the one you get on planet surfaces after beaming down manually) over near the stations pirate teleporter ring. I cannot walk back to my ship because it's outside. Anyway, looks like I'm an outlier on this one.

Chromatic metal if you want to warp to the space station a lot. But mostly they give you what you need

The only thing you might need is Chromatic Metal and you'll need it before you can access the anomaly. Warp fuel will just cut down on a little grinding. Most of what you need you're given, or can get by shooting up the planet from your corvette. But carbon, oxygen, sodium and ferrite dust are always useful if you really want to send something.

personally: i do watch streams a lot. and imo because people constantly talk about bugs and glitches every.single.missclick is the games fault. somethings glitched, doenst work, need to reload (as recommended) now everythings more buggy...

my friend got himself stuck in a freighter. i told him to walk out of it. it took woah about 30 seconds and soon he was back in his ship
am not saying its a perfect game, but if i compare what it offers, to some quircks, sometimes even fun bugs.. i take that anytime over games that give me no freedom and are so small compared to nms

Nope, there's nohing there to teleport to your ship on the Pirate Space Stations

Another alternative is killing Sentinels. If you're having a hard time with that you can go to the teleporters on space stations or the Anomaly and look for bases that say they are near sentinel towers

You wouldn't be looking at planets, just the base names in the teleporter on the space station or Anomaly

Every planet has probably hundreds or thousands of Sentinel pillars, and I think only so many bases show up, so it's a crap shoot which ones you'll see

Couple more options. You can go to space station or the Anomaly teleporter and check for bases that may be new sentinel pillars (based on their names/screenshots).

Or you can get better weapons to kill them:

5. Weapons: I tend to use a Bolt Caster in a supercharged slot with no upgrades on a C class multi-tool, because Sentinels start scaling up quickly when you upgrade your multi-tool/weapon. After that, I collect Neutron Cannon upgrades (there are two S class on the expedition path, and 1 A class) then I switch to a fully upgraded Neutron Cannon (learned at the Anomaly) and laugh as I two shot a group of 6 sentinels.

you needed to start the expedition from the primary save via the anomaly terminal; then when you return to the primary save you are able to take a copy of the ship and the equipped mt, for a cost of some nanites, you can even copy a ship mmultiple tmies as long as you have scrapped it (for a regular type of ship) or stripped it for parts and then traded it to an npc (for a corvette), i.e. you cannot have the exact same ship already to make a copy.

if you started a new save, then it will convert to a normal mode save at the end of teh expediition period and will keep all items and units and nanites and so on, that it has acquired

They are the habitation modules, the cuboids you can walk through. You get some from completing a milestone, and you can buy basic ones, trade for advanced ones and find them in salvageable scrap on planets.

Or I guess from blowing up ships and doing derelict freighter runs.

typical expedition strategy is to load in, pause, go over every phase's milestones, their objectives and rewards. see what's worth doing first, because of rewards, because of objective being easily done, either on current planet, eventually on current system, eventually on other rendezvous systems when you get there. keep pushing through rdv milestones, in order.

Fly to a planet until you get the message you're entering the atmosphere then exit out the back and jet pack on the way down. Assuming you haven't tried that.

There's no legitimate way to do it, but on PC there are some options either by save editing or starting a different expedition then starting the corvette expedition again.

i returned to my base, tried to refuel the reactor to use the base terminus. it lets me interct but it acts like it working but the whit circle fills up but it womt let me in. and the base computer is iffy first it does the same thing then i hit escape then hit escape again and i can get in to the base computer. i can delete and build another bio reactor and wire it up but same thing. i am just going to build a few solar panels and a battery i was trying to keep it less materials but i am pretty much finished. i am just wrapping up so, i am going to re start if it doesnt work i will just build solar and a battery. i was just wondering if anyone else had an issue. no worries tho i cam never ever get upset at this game. i see the humming sacks are working again tis is too much fun

From a new save it will convert to a normal save when you finish. From an existing save you get an opportunity to send items back to your main save before you finish it from the terminal in the anomaly.

Once you finish, you can head back to the terminal in the Anamoly (the same spot you started the mission) and you should be given the option to copy it

For the last one just go to a space station you haven't been to before and talk to the console in the back like you did for the others. For Hitchhiking, just sneak on a ship and go for a ride - either in the Anomaly or at a Rendezvous space station (one of the space stations you visited and talked to a console).

Anything special procedurally to do before ending the mission? I've read some accounts of people losing stuff when trying to port back to the main save. I've spent >90% of my time in NMS so far in the mission so I'd really rather not lose everything.

When you're at the point where you can put items in the terminal, you can put them in there, save (enter and exit ship), then switch to your primary save to pick your stuff up. I've never had problems transfering items by putting them in the terminal and just ending the expedition, but some people have said they have, so this will eliminate that risk, theortically.

When you end, you'll get your units, nanites, quicksilver (along with some bonus units and nanites for stuff you have and stuff you've done), whatever you put in the terminal and your bases. Nothing else comes over.

Ship/multitool will keep their tech/parts when copied, but your ship will not keep its cargo. All cargo in all containers etc (including the parts cache) will be sold for units/nanites.

Has anyone else had an issue with the derelict freighter? I've done this expedition 6 times and didn't have a problem with the derelict freighter. This time when I go in it doesn't tell me which room number I'm in. No message when I enter a new room. I completely went through it and when it didn't recognize I had I went through it again. Then I reloaded the game and when I went in it didn't give me a message on which room number I was in so I shut the game down to try later. The freighter is all I have left to finish the expedition.

Doing the milestone that gives you one is easiest. Second easiest is going up to the big mirror dudes and seeing if they have one, if so mine them then run away from the corrupted sentinels. Third is probably just killing all the waves of corrupted sentinels - easiest with a fully upgraded Neutron Cannon.

Be careful when entering the space station Okyotang, there is a derlict ship in the middle of it and I'm not sure the devs are fixing it. You can't access everything but you can get to most things by teleporting from your corvette to the main area. Just a heads up!!

I have a feeling this is happening because people have a certain milestone selected and they start following the galactic center route rather than the expedition route. I've noticed it usually highlights the expedition route, but for some milestones (maybe) it'll default to the galactic center.

In other expeditions it has been because people took a black hole (which was one of the milestones).

yes, that exact thing happened to me earlier this evening, the sentinel interceptor spawned in and kept moving away, far out of range, I eventually caught up enough to kill it, and the other ones that spawned were fine, but the first one still flew so far away out of range that I could've pulsed away, wasn't even attacking me

• destroying corrupted sentinel quadraped (drop chance)
• destroy Dissonance Resonator (drop chance)
• find 'invisible' crystals (sentient echo) while exploring dissonant planets and use 'pulse scan' (click LS on console, not sure for PC) to make them appear and dig them (requires Scan Harmoniser or Polyphonic Core tech on multitool)

I have a technical question for Steam (PC/Mac) players who are running the old Expeditions via the .json files on the GitHub...

I know we have to be Offline in Steam so that the .json doesn't get overwritten with the current Expedition 19 file but can we make the file Read Only and leave Steam Online so that other games can receive normal updates? I understand the .json holds the tasks for the old Expedition but does it also get updated to store progress?

It only gets overwritten when you open the game while online in steam. And it only matters if you load your expedition save, so you can even play other save files while online. Just close the game, go offline and replace the json file when you're ready to play your old expedition save again.

So I got lost during the expedition and I couldn't figure out why. I was just AFK in the anomoly in my ship looking at nms info on second monitor when suddenly, I was going through a warp tunnel. What I think happened is I got picked up by someone elses corvette and flown out of the anomoly into a random system. I wasn't paying too close attention to the monitor with the game up, so I can't tell if that's exactly what happened, but it's what I'm suspecting.

hey, sorry for the late reply. after having harvested just a little over 50 sentience echo, all i got was 50 echo seed. could be that i have really bad luck and/or echo locator has a really low drop chance from sentience echo, i'll try to confirm this further through game files - but atm i'm inclined to say that, if it really dropped you an echo locator (and you didn't quite simply - and it would ofc be ok if you had - misread the notification drop/saw what you wanted to see, happens), it was a glitch/active mod.

I only saw the issue happening after the last patch. When I did the expo before this recent patch it ran a hell of a lot better. Made a new save to help my kid through post-patch and it ran like total garbage. Ships glitched into stations, lag everywhere, and the desyncing was much worse it seemed.

You mean to pass items to your primary save multiple times? If it doesn't allow you to put items in the terminal it means you still have optional milestones to do. You can choose not to do those and click end once and it'll allow you to put items in. You'll have to click end again to fully end the expedition.

fwiw I ended up doing this by stowing away on the Rendezvous 5 space station rather than the Anomaly. The Anomaly was way too buggy for me.

if I choose to end the expedition, will the items inside the corvette's inventory and storage transfer/disappear along with the corvette parts inside the space station workshop?

paranoid because had a case where stuff inside the freighter's storage would disappear on a prior expedition

I completed the expedition and went back to the terminus at the anamoly. How do I transfer back items to my primary save? There is a button that says return to primary save but not one that says end epedition.

If you started your expedition from an existing save, all inventory items get sold. You don't get to keep your freighter

What the hell... have you collected all your rewards from all the milestones and phases?

If so maybe relog. If that doesn't work, switch to your primary save via the pause menu then switch back to the expedition via the terminal.

Now it shows END EXPEDITION. Do I select that and then I can choose what to bring back with me to my primary save?

It's easy, just go to a space station you haven't been to and interact with the console in the back like you did for the other milestones

You'll just be able to put items in the terminal

ok so I did that optional one, you were right, very easy. Now I am moving stuff over to my primary save. Seems the corvette items you can bring back are mostly cosmetic? What about the egg reward that it wont let me transfer?

You can claim the phase rewards (including the egg) on your primary save at the QuickSilver vendor

Anyone else agree that one of the most annoying aspects of the expedition are on that initial planet of finding a freaking place to set down a portable refiner cause "No Edit Rights" is everywhere ya freakin go?

I jumped on the roof of someone else's corvette at the last rendezvouz-station, and made it the required distance before I jumped off into space 😄

There is something epic about leaping off the corvette into open space to celebrate and falling towards the nearest planet.

It wears off after a couple of mins, and you're still about a million units away from anything with no hope of ever getting there before you die, but for the first short while it's great 😄

I got the idea when someone parked their corvette at my spot, and got an involuntary ride out the station because I glitched into their ship. Then I realized I had 1000/10k units of the goal completed 🤔 But yeah I will refer to myself as genius from now on, thank you!

So, new to NMS. What exactly are expeditions? Should I start doing them immediately or should I get certain upgrades first?

It's kind of like a new save within a save. A set of missions in which you start fresh. I'd say it's a great way to start in nms

You go to a terminal to start the expedition and it takes you to a new world without anything and you progress through a series of missions

Just got my C class free freighter and currently scrounging around for salvaged frigate parts to unlock stuff for it. Still have to make a corvette.

Yes.
You start from scratch. You mostly get told everything you need to know
You have the community rallied around you and invested in your progress for a couple of weeks.
You finish with a bunch of resources that are otherwise hard to get. And you go back to your old save.
Absolutely do them.

In this case, when you're done you'll have a kick ass ugly as sin flying dustbin and a bunch of nanites and units. What's not to like?

Was in the anomaly and someone had a sleek ship that they said they got from an expedition. The starrunner or something

On pc, yes with jiggery pokery.
Other platforms, only the current one. They do replays over Christmas of that years ones though, and occasionally a classic. Starborn Runner was from last year I think.

But the Runner is old news. You can build anything now with Corvettes and some glitchy witchy knowhow.

I'm unaware of any way this could happen apart from not being on the save you think you are. I guess you could look at a save editor and see if your primary save is still in there.

If you started the expedition from an existing save, yes. You can also send parts back via the terminal, but only a certain amount at a time. You can, however, repeat this multiple times by putting the items in the terminal, switching to your primary save via the pause menu, collecting the items from the terminal, then swapping back to the expedition via the terminal.
