The golden rule is that you're guaranteed to see 2025 expeditions at the end of the year but if they ever decide on an special occasion or something we may have a chance of seeing old ones(?) I didn't know about 2 and 3 for example

I just started playing No Man's Sky a few months ago, so I've done none of those Expeditions.

Maybe they could have a rolling Expedition server, where they cycle through all the past ones like every week or 2 weeks. That way they don't have to have separate instances to have all of them running all the time at the same time. But they should make them accessible to people who weren't around years ago.

it's probably faster to only check for expeditions at game startup, otherwise you would have to wait for the "new game" screen to retrieve the information first, possibly time out on poor connections, and for starting an offline/single player game that's not really desirable.

i prefer starting from main save. am a slow relaxed player. saving time on mining things gives me more time to "drift around" and soak it all in. spend time with cooking and fishing etc.
the tips in the pins about what to bring are great and my choice too. i didnt spend hours on building farms, to have to manually farm stuff again on expedition 😛 and i can help others later, or even build farms on expedition
i d be ok with not having the option to bring things, but its great (for me ).

i would recommend going to a radiation planet and mining 'metal fingers' during a storm. you'll get about 800 gold and uranium per finger and it'll make meeting a few milestones very easy

Phase 1

• Ignition/Never Look Back: For ferrite dust you can refine crystalized helium and rusted metal (damaged crates), and for Chromatic Metal you can refine Quartzite or Activated Quartzite

Phase 2

• Bottled Lightning: New Aftesfi (Starter Planet) and Toletho Omega (Rendezvous 3 planet) are suitable for this milestone.
• Meal in a can: Claim Bottled Lightning and install prebuilt Hazmat Gauntlet exosuit tech. Ebinin P10 planet in Eiestori (Rendezvous 1 system) has Gamma Root on resource list, land and start looking for Gamma Weed plant icons with analysis visor.

Phase 3:

• Fathoms Below: Summon Nautilon using Floating Nautilon Platform (Phase 2, By Sky and Sea milestone reward), install High Power Sonar on it, then quick menu/scan for buildings/sunken freighter. With the 5.57 patch, it's possible to successfully scan for sunken freighters on Adtow (Rendezvous 2 planet), but you must save on that planet and relaunch the game completely for the fix to apply.
  -# Without the 5.57 patch, this milestone cannot be completed on Adtow (Rendezvous 2 planet). You may skip it and complete it later, on Ipto XIV instead (Rendezvous 5 planet), as an example.

• Crush Zone: Can be done in Adtow (Rendezvous 2 Planet), especially if you already installed Aqua Jets. Will want to have Nautilon exocraft for this one. Example coordinates of a spot deep enough: +4.44, -69.93

Phase 4

• Plasmic Oceans: New Aftesfi (Starter Planet) and Toletho Omega (Rendezvous 3 planet) (-36.24 latitude, -145.68 longitude for a spot if you're struggling) are suitable for this milestone. No need to use any bait.

Phase 5

• Legacy: One easy way to complete this milestone is to interact with waypoint objects, often found next to buildings on planets in inhabited systems. interact with one, and rename its discovery (see image). To find buildings, player can just fly low and slow, in the same direction, quick scanning to eventually pick up an unknown building marker - or use a secure planetary chart, obtained from station cartographer npc.

Fun fact when starting the expedition, it does not allow you to transfer the new materials like Quartz...thingy... and the other mineral thaat you can mine on gaas giants. 🙂 Saying that they are mission critical
