anomaly suppressor allows you to control the boundary strength: if you have it at 100% charge, you barely see any boundary horrors around, and time (seen on visor) goes by relatively slowly. if you let it discharge at 50%, and recheck visor, you'll see that time flies by this time

at 0%, it really goes like a bat out of hell

by the time i got to that point i had enough cash to go buy coordinates from the scrap dealer npc in space stations; i went to starter system first (teleported back), used emergency signal scanner, looted every box, completed mission got out with about 250 tainted metal - went to scrap dealer to turn in both captains log and crew manifest, that completed the milestone

How to spawn them?
Acquire an ESS (Scrap Dealer, Missions), then go to space, consume it, then pulse drive until you see the relevant encounter notification. Exit pulse to spawn the DF, approach and land.

Anything else I should know?

• Exiting your ship on a DF landing pad will not create a restore point;
• Your quick scanner highlights loot and log snippets in the room, spam it as needed;
• Possible enemies: Drones, Turrets, Jellyfish, Infestation pods and bugs
• Interact with every log snippet until you get the secure credentials;
• Only crates can drop Salvaged Frigate Modules (SFM);
• Look at arrows above doors: white for main path, purple for paths leading to optional rooms.
• To turn in the mission, you'll need to be in a non-outlaw system. Crew manifests and Captain's Logs items can be traded at Scrap Dealer or Guild Envoy, for Tainted Metal or Race Standing, respectively.
• The class each freighter upgrade module will drop in, and the stats it will have after installed are fixed per star system. Higher class isn't related to higher system economy tier.

3. Spam Use as many charts of the same type as needed, until you have the HUD marker to the building type you need.
   The message "Similar location already marked" appears when a chart tried to mark a building type that is already marked on the HUD - ignore it and spam Use chart key/button until it goes through.

Additional Notes:

• Outlaw space stations do not spawn cartographers.
• The message "Locational interference detected" appears when a chart is used in an Uncharted aka Uninhabited system.

Yup. You spam and spam. Each time you do, a die rolls to select what to reveal. If you roll the same 'thing' when you use it, it'll say it's already revealed that thing. Just use it again and it'll reroll. Eventually it'll roll something it hasn't revealed.

There's a:

• 80% chance that Resonator will be an Inverted Mirror Resonator;
• 20% chance that Resonator will be an Echo Locator Resonator.

Buy maps at the cartographer at a space station. The ones that lead you to alien ruins. You'd normally use a signal booster to use the batteries.

I honestly don't even remember what the surge batteries were. The icon seemed to indicate recharging shields, so I think I sold them. To find ruins, buy four alien charts from the station and spam it until you see ruins pop up.

@winter star you just go to the anomoly and find the HUD that executes the expositions. And you'll be able to claim all rewards there.

So it’s a little bit poorly labeled. If you’re at an excavation site, it won’t. I grabbed maps from the space station to find alien ruins and that brings you to the ones that offer the choice.

Yeah that's how I did that one. 6 alien charts should be enough since it points you toward 3 kinds of buildings, one of which is the ruin we need for the milestone, and as far as I know it won't point to the same kind of building until you actually go to it.

Maybe even 4 if that's how it works, but I could be wrong.

I'm sorry what do you mean you've drunk the blood multiple times? The quicksilver one you drink to show where the portal is, but then you add the blood you unlocked for that phase of the expedition to the portal.

Every time I've interacted with the second portal with the second blood in my inventory it's treated the portal like a normal portal interaction, so I drink it and make a new one, and still, it doesn't give me the prompt to smear the blood

So I found an ancient ruin using the Cartographer Ancient maps but it didn't count towards the Challenge. Is it a specific type? I did the 3 keys thing and the Sarcophagus even. How do you complete the Ancient Ruins one then?

All planets will have something to refine to chromatic metal, it won't necessarily be copper, it might also be cadmium/emeril/indium

There is no planet that won't have one of those metals present
