I think people are confusing you.
If you have your expedition save as a different save you made from the main menu you won't be able to see it on your normal save until after the expedition is over, and your main save won't have ownership over it at all, AFAIK.

If you don't have access to the Anomaly then that advice was good, if you did have access to the Anomaly then you could have started the expedition from the Anomaly terminal and took some stuff with you which you can then collect once you gain access to the Anomaly in the Expedition which happens after the first warp.

and their experience of the expd will be different than someone who plays with a new save, the vanilla experience

you can save-reload, but also I hear a rumour that if you want to get a walker encounter right away, op centres on aggro sentinel worlds have walkers (not mechs) guarding them. I have not checked this out myself but it's on my todo list in the next couple days

if you're going to kill sentinels then you should remember that Salvaged Glass can be examined in the inventory and turned in to either suit or MT upgrades which can then help with killing sentinels

For the Multi-Tool Class Upgrade awards, what happens if it's already an s class that you have selected? Thinking of getting a sentinel MT and realized I should have waited for some of the upgrades to get that tool upgraded instead if I find a good one. Also, if I reject the slot upgrade for the MT, does it give me a slot upgrade to use later or do I need to pick it then? I accidently rejected one slot upgrade for the MT thinking it would give me an slot item to apply later but I didn't pay attention to how many I already had. 😦

Finishing an Expedition
The expedition will complete once all Milestones have been completed and all rewards have been collected. Completion will also happen once the expedition time expires. After this, the following will happen depending on how you started:

When started as a new save:
The save will in most cases convert to a Normal mode save, for you to continue playing with, if you wish.

When started from an existing save:
You will have to visit the Space Anomaly to finish your expedition at the Expedition Terminus. Now is a good time to sort your inventory, gather valuable items, resources, package tech, and switching to the Multi-Tool and/or Starship you may wish to keep. After this your save converts back and you can once more interact with the Expedition Terminus to take the valuable items you stashed. It also allows you to get an exact copy of the Multi-Tool and/or Starship you last switched to on the expedition save, including the installed technology, at a cost of Nanites.

• Mission critical items and companion eggs can not be kept.
• You may not be able to access all possible inventories, nor will all items possibly left in them, be turned into value.
• All other Starships and Multi-Tools, Freighter, Frigates, Companions, will be lost.
• Any bases made will be kept, but any possible inventories as part of the base(s) will be empty.

so ods has been up for me for about an hour (woo!) and the progress bar went from 58% earlier today, to 65%. clearly that's not people killing things all at once, ods is catching up

More a question for #nms-questions but just keep opening them and don't visit the crashed ships with a person there and keep the crashed freighter un visited as well. You'll get a crashed ship eventually, unless you're talking about sentinel ships, that's a different process.

Oh, so some have the red laser and others do not. Guess I gotta research them more now. I've seen it where you can both have the red built in one that is part of the sentinel MT and then add the green one you have in a "normal" MT.

Still a lot to learn on top of the expedition things as this is my first expedition.
