Can do it both ways, but you can only transfer and copy things if you start from a normal save at the anomaly

Both. You can either start a new save and select expedition mode or start it on your main save via the terminal.
If you use the terminal can you also switch back to your main save at any time to opt in and opt out of expedition on main save and continue where you left off.

Thought about that too. Then I learned that unites, nanintes, qs are transfered - as well as none transfered stuff gets auto sold so it does not matter if I play even while waiting for community milestone. With Phase 4 at 94% should it maybe take one or two more hours anyway.

not at all. My main save started out as an expedition. But also the last time I tried an expedition I barely got halfway through it because part of it was too hard for me.

If you really want to bring things over @exotic fiber, consider this.
Bring 200 cactus flesh, 200 fungal mould, 100 pugneum, 70-ish mordite, a buch of items you can either sell for nanites (upgrade modules), of for units (like starship AI valve, a couple of stasis device, or something worth some good units). Bring repair kits, you’ll need them. What else… umm! Use your best multi-tool and ship to start the expedition from the main save so that they are copied over to expediton (you will need nanites to unlock them).

because a new player wouldn't know that oxygen is not available to purchase, and they also wouldn't know what are the basic materials to carry over. If we say this to a new player it will confuse them. Moreover, since this particular expedition is the first ever "carry things over" deal many have been confused with the process. It's not like we can access the carried over items immediately. Initially we will have to gather resources on the planet. Imaging a new player who carried over things to their expedition save but couldn't access them. The question will be like "i transferred the things but i can't access it. what do now?"

Interestingly I haven't checked this in particular, mainly because too much fuel in storage. I do know it's not possible to summon a freighter in a star system it cannot go to, you will need that specific hyperdrive module or Indium drive.

There are milestones in the expedition that require you to build stuff. Liquid Explosive, for example, requires acid and unstable gel. They need cactus and fungal mould as raw material to create. Although it's not hard to get these items (i farmed them on planets), it's much easier to just have them. And yes, that's a repair kit.

if you go to the galaxy map and use dpad left and right, ther's one for expedition path. it's only like 1-3 jumps so it's pretty fast. after you see them once, you can teleport thru the space station

If you did it on a brand new save that isn't tied to an existing save, you keep everything for that save. It just converts your expedition save to a normal save when you finish.

Using navigation tools to get ships bumped the nanites for good. Each ship claimed will get around 400 nanites on main save.

If you're having trouble finding the crystalized items just dismantle the pad.

It will give you enough to make the scanner. If you need to summon it again tho sadly you'll need to find more of the crystalized stuff.

Anyone else getting a crash if they try to put the Egg from Phase 1's optional goal into the Egg sequencer? Never used the sequencer before but it had a big Egg marker on the HUD so I assumed it was a Phase mission. Got 2 crashes in a row then learned my lesson 🙂 (Switch, if it matters)

Once again: I simple tested what will happen to a frighter as I had 3 possible outcomes: 1) No frighter on main save so maybe same as basis built swapped to main save 2) scrapped for units as they do have a unit tag 3) simple excluded from transfer.

It was number 3 and I am very fine with that as I can haunt a pirate on on main save now. You said it yourself: We never got a transfer. So interesting that testing it and saying nope is counted as "angry" 😄

In the meantime did my main save got two times the expedition ship - one claimed one copied. So all fine.

You can also farm them on an airless planet, where your jumps are insane. Shoot egg, loot core and jump away.

Try riding the exobike on a low gravity moon and use the pits as jumps by boosting off of them

You go flying super far and it's really fun I got distracted while doing a mission once just for doing jumps with the exobike on a low gravity moon

there are some account wide unlocks that can be claimed in your survival save. alternatively since you're new, you could just stick with the expedition save. it'll convert to a survival save when either the time runs out or you manually end the expedition
