Nah do your thing dude, people always helpful here. My only advice for the expedition because you're new would be not to worry about being overprepared, the expedition steps and rewards will give you 90% of what you'll need to complete it 🙂

and don't dawdle too long in the expedition (ie no unnecessary basebuilding or upgrading), instead focus on finishing it and make a "mainsave" where you do your building, exploring, adventuring. in the main game, there's no time limit and you'll be able to gather resources a whole lot faster (either by your own discovery, or other people's bases)

Ah, well for the expedition save, one of the rewards was the 16 poral glyphs, so you should have that. You really only need to bring one to the other. If you use the camera in game on a planet you'll see in the lower left corner the glyphs for that planet

as for finding portals: you can buy "Planetary Chart (ancient artifact site)" from cartographers at space stations

if you plan on making more portal trips, build a small base with a teleporter there

So on your main save, look at the planet that you have a nice base on and get the glyph address, then with your expedition save find a portal and go there. And then also have a buddy do the transfer. But again, you can find those things on exotic planets pretty easily

Quad spawns at level 3. You won't go to level 4 until it's destroyed. So if you're stuck on level 3 and haven't seen the quad, it took off somewhere. Check behind hills.

I've also noticed that the Nexus missions require much less effort on Switch than on PS5. ie, digging up bones on Switch require me to get 3 to 5 maximum. PS5 needs me to get at least 12.
Feeding wildlife needs only 5 on Switch and 40 on PS5....

Should have played at Switch launch. It initially launched with no Nexus at all. HG compensated us by awarding a lot of QS to the Switch players through the 5-8 expedition redux.

Then they added an offline Nexus for us and stopped doing that.

you don't really need much cash in this exp. so no need to farm for that.

1. Yes, but unlocking the questline that leads to them requires the main storyline completed.

2. There is an exploit to save scum for both helms in on play. If you finished Singularity already though, it's too late to use it and you'll have to replay it over again for the other helm.

It's too late. Getting both helms in one run requires a restore save from before your choice.

No, the turbojet is unlocked through a harmonic camp, lift the seal. And glyphs you get either from completing the main story specifically “the purge” or traveller graves.

Only phase rewards and the final expedition reward are claimable on other saves.

Because you will be given the option as to which head part you want, there is a save and reload method to get both however.

Phase rewards and the expedition completion reward can be claimed on other saves via the QS vendor at the Anomaly.

However, anything else: individual milestone rewards, inventory, units, nanites, etc cannot. Those stay on that save.

Sometimes though, some keep the former expedition saves around for various reasons. (One, such as Polestar, had unique starship tech to it. I also kept my Leviathan save as unlike other expeds, it converts to a survival save and not normal. Free survival save with a head start)

Polestar had the singularity engine unique to the freighter, cartographers had unique starship tech.

Definitely will recommend keeping your cartographers save when it comes after the 22nd

2021 saw the update to space stations that introduced that little terminal to the station core, With that came along the station override, A completely useless item, But when did the station override get given as a reward? First it was a reward in a milestone during expedition 3, Later outlaw stations, We get a teaser about new stations, And currently we get expedition 3 redux.

What if the expedition will reward the override, And those who keep that save Get a head start in the new content by already having the device if they keep that save.

Use the destination guide that’s at the top of the map. It’ll be your arrow keys. Plus you won’t miss it when flying around if you’re in the right Star system that it’s in.

It will also show when you go through and set for atlas stations.

What we don't know for certain, is if they're replacing other original Cartographers rewards or if those will be included and they just didn't mention them.

(I'm ideally hoping we get all the original Cartographers stuff too, but my gut says no. I have a few, like the bio latern, already from Twitch drops. But the whispering horror egg and the cave creeper would have been nice too...)

massive pain, most likely. it needs fuel and time, and the galaxy is vast, so you might sit there waiting an hour or more on your freighter. also, there's instant-teleporters that can bring you to other bases, spacestations, or even your freighter, so just going to the freighter would be easier. it also negates the instant-calling of exocraft, since it's easier to just gather the materials and build a new exostation

in short: it would make the freighter useless

In my main save I have a freighter with the teleport thing and a bunch of stuff in storage and it’s made me so lazy, haha

I call it all over the place and it means I can build all kinds of things.

Although it means also that I do all kinds of “maintenance tasks” since I keep up with frigate fleet missions on there, I tend to hydroponic crops there, etc.

It takes a while to learn how to fly through the trenches of a pirate dreadnought, disable their shields, and then shoot out their fuel rods to kill the ship before they warp.

I can do it pretty well nowadays but man I used to have a lot of trouble.

so basically, when you get to this dialog, press leave. disable multiplayer to be safe, enter+exit ship, then goto construct and pick an option.you should see both notifications, completing ignition and one of the optionals. then simply pause, reload restore point, talk to construct again, pick the other dialog option, and that's it.

If you are referring to the phase IV part after you've crafted the leg, make sure that part of the quest is active and fly into space. Open your Galaxy map and there should be a highlighted path to follow until you reach a different system with an Atlas. The system that already had an Atlas (Mehirdiap?) would not work for me, which was quite confusing.

It wasn't a glitch. Any expedition rewards gets hard coded into the game. So you can always just reload back to the restore point and choose the other option

I get that, but this purposely abuses something not intended, it’s possible HG made the two options so players would pick one option as a way to spice up the expedition, but most players play expeditions for the rewards those that play them for a cool story or unique use of tech or gameplay mechanics would probably have found this enjoyable, I know I did.

Try !faq-savefiles in #bot-spam for the location for your platform. You just make a copy to put in a different location you can easily find again. (best to copy the full folder).
Be reminded this is the #nms-expedition channel, this question would have likely better been asked in #nms-questions , unless expedition specific. In that case, a backup of your expedition save-file(s) is useful, but will still revert to 'normal' once expired

Two options

• Do the expedition two times.
• Run it once & try the glitch below at your own risk.

If you wish to be extra cautious, we recommend the following:

• Create an extra backup of your save file, if on PC (or PS4 via USB).
  Use !faq-savefiles in #bot-spam for the location for your platform.
• Do the optional milestone for your favourite helmet first in case the glitch fails.

Glitch Steps

Have both the Atlantid Reactor and the Seed of Hope in your Exosuit inventory, so you don't waste time between options and trigger additional auto-saves.

1. Soothe the construct
2. Save restore point by entering & exiting ship (make note of the timestamp)
3. Turn in the reactor for Atlantid vs. the seed for Crimson
   DO NOT CLAIM ANY REWARD !
4. Reload restore point save
5. Soothe again if needed
6. Turn in the other item (opposite choice made in step 3)
7. Check the Quicksilver vendor
   Are both heads claimable? If yes, claim them. If not, you may reload your restore point if it's still the same timestamp in step 2 and go back to step 3

Took me awhile the first time, but it went really quickly the second. It was weird doing the lore in the "wrong" order, since I started recently and did the normal game missions first.

(I also briefly freaked out that the rewards didn't unlock, because they're listed at the start of the options. )

usually I have my regular save and then just do expeditions. later I claim the rewards in my main save. Every save can claim all expedition rewards. (That means you can claim the Utopia Ship from last weekend right at the start of this expedition 😉

Make sure they're normal Sentinel waves, not corrupted ones on dissonant planets.

Quad will show usually at level 3 (occassionally seen it pop up at 2, but most commonly 3). It's fast and likes to run from you though. Stun it with the paralysis mortar then shoot it.

I've finished it the first time in 4 hours and 10 minutes and that was me taking a while so definitely doable. Just don't do what I did and accept the final reward instead of following the glitch to get both head rewards. I just had to re-run the whole damn thing again! Which I finished in 3 and 9 minutes which is surprising given I was stuck for a long time on Phase 4

that's mostly up to you (remember that we can have up to 16 saves side by side), it would be a normal mode save after completing and claiming all milestones almost in every way, but for example you already have your gear, all 16 glyphs learned

as you know phase and final rewards are unlocked account wide, so you can claim them in your other save.

If you stick a flooring peace with a chair you can sit in on top and you sit in the chair and wait for the vent to blow it will literally create a rocket chair shooting you into space Infinitly until you get out of the chair

It's a cool glitch but be careful if you go to high into space make sure to bring lots of supplies to survive the fall down because you will run out of life support fast

Funny thing, first sentinel multitool I got from the rendezvous had the mining upgrade that breaks down tougher materials

You get a guaranteed free multitool and a sentinel starship from these rendezvous

My sentinel rifle multitool has almost infinite time when in use it takes 2 almost 3 hours for it to overheat when mining

I love overheating because of the excess damage

Yea you can only get one reward, unless you redo the expedition however there is some bug but I'm not sure how that works

giving the item to the construct is what triggers the reward, so as long as you made a save before giving the item and don't end the exped, you can load the save and get the 2nd reward

Remember to get a multitool and the coordinates to a sentinel ship. I got 7 sentinel ships in this expedition, I am never deleting this save

in my base /starter playthru, Ive only found 4 glyphs. In this expedition, I have all 16 opened. Im 'done' just havent collected/converted. When I do, will the glyphs still be 'found' and is that a good reason to keep this save to playthru the game?

yes, once you claim that milestone, the save will have learned the glyphs permanently - you'll still have to run the main storyline anyway, for example if you want to get access to staffs and the rest of the autophage customization parts. that said, it's a save that's basically already progressed quite a bit further into the game than a new game in non-expedition would get you

Look over all the tasks you can before you start, Expeditions don't always force you to do things in a specific order, much of the time there's later tasks that can be done at the same time as earlier ones.
