Not sure, but make sure you did indeed get yesterday's update having version 110671 (4.4.4). Assuming the same fix on other platforms, it should trigger when you now scan a creature meeting the milestone requirement.

Did they change how to locate activated metal planets, cuz so far every system I have been to that's had "activated copper detected" has not had a single planet labeled with activated copper...

It's making finding storm crystals a pain

There is a bug where the labels on the item card between Discovery screen and actual scan card in space are different

So a planet that actually has activated metal might show regular metal when you browse from Discovery screen

But having activated metal does not guarantee storm crystals will spawn

What makes a planet hostile? My current "record" is a planet with moderate weather, moderate temps, bountiful flora and fauna, tame sentinels. This is as opposed to the 300c volcanic hellscape I visited that was apparently less "hostile".

Yes, I got it but I’m not sure how. I think I landed on one of the planets in the pins and it gave it to me right away. I had scanned some of the fauna there before.

Well I've only been at this 2 days for the expedition... I don't really keep count, mostly just bumming around trying to find planets with extreme weather for storm crystals

For sure. I've done every expedition at least twice. This one is still interesting but may be the first I don't end up doing twice since it's just very RNG on finding the record creatures and whatnot. Not a bad concept but the thresholds might be a bit high.

I'm doing 5-10 systems a day and a few likely planets in each system for the remaining records I need. If time starts running out on the expedition I may resort to portal coordinates. 🙂

Yesterday I found a planet that was 100c at night and 300c+ during storms. Alas, all the wildlife was somehow super chill and magically able to keep their body temps under 60c 🙂

Imo in this specific exp. the faster you want to complete it , the more tedious it will get . I did it in 20+h , few milestones per day and i had no problems with it.

I'd make sure you are able to get back to the Rendezvous region, before taking a blackhole that can take you across the galaxy. So either a Space Station teleport, or possibly a Portal, to get back again. Alternatively, wait with the black hole milestone, to finish up (close to) last.

Find a planet with Activated Metal and Extreme weather. When it has Storm Crystals, they can be harvested during the Extreme Storm, at which time they glow up bright. (the planet Efkad in the 2nd rendezvous system has them)

It doesn’t have to be. They have the glyphs (and coordinates, I believe) for each rendezvous system… but the whole point of the expedition is to explore. So if you go off the beaten path, then that’s fine 😁

Depends on what you're referring to. You can send figates in your fleet to expeditions to earn resources. Then there's the community expeditions... a separate game mode with objectives for some rewards that you otherwise can't get in normal playthroughs.

@cursive pier I believe itll be dependent primarily on average temp, storm frequency, severity, and sentinel aggression. Actually, outside of Lush, the only 2 biomes that I think you have a shot are Swamp and Barren, theyre the only others that can have a balmy avg temp

Hey guys, how was the expedition?

This was my first time in expedition, pretty cool that we started in a freighter

Finished the expedition now how to figure out how to change the construct heads. Can make a construct companion no problem

Expected the freighter to feature more as we started in it, some parts were very hard but overall fun

The hostile world was the hardest milestone landed on 8 different aggressive sentinel planets with activated metals before it gave it to me. 😆

took me a while to figure out the "intended" way to play, but the idea of a scavenger hunt on a long voyage is cool. I normally focus on fighting and crafting, so more of a focus on scanning and exploring was a cool way of seeing a different side of the game

I spent like 10h just scanning everything on every single planet before giving up, lol

How do we find these blood pressure and aggression fauna? Just scan everything? I'm not seeing those metrics in the discovery descriptions of any of the creatures I've already scanned. Didn't even know those were a metric til this expedition.

the blood pH ones are obtainable in toxic planets (it has fungal mould and ammonia as resource)
the aggression one, is, just, rng, if the animal straight up just attacks you on sight it has high chance it has high aggression

to know if it is toxic, the planet needs to have fungal mould and ammonia

Keeping an eye out for Fungal Mould and Ammonia would be easiest. But Toxic planets can also be labelled as acidic, caustic, acrid, blighted and corrosive.

Only the time limit, I guess.
It depends on whether you intend to keep playing that save after the expedition ends or not - if you do, you might be more inclined to create bases and beacons near useful resources. But if you're just starting the new save for the Expedition, clearing all milestones and then going back to business as usual on your regular save then there's no need to waste time finding the perfect ship and planet and all that jazz. Do the task, get the reward, NEXT!

Man, the ground refreshing is bad in this expedition. I've had bases buried before my eyes, portals buried when I return through them trapping me in the ground because peoples' bases hinder any terrain editing. It's worse than previous ones, for me at least.

Kust keep switching out the scanner mods till you get ones that will give you the amount. I have been hopping from system to system looking for the hot animal and the hostile planet. I was on a planet with a 906 temp and no animal that matched that I was sorta shocked lol. I know I can use some glyphs and get to planets with the animal I am just enjoying the hopping around.

That is very likely, because a black hole can take you anywhere across the galaxy, meaning you can be far far away from where the expedition route is
