Discoveries > fauna. you get a hint on the fauna the planet has. if there is no underwater fauna, you won’t find one.

yes, the rune offers a free key, you just need to swim around a bit for 1 pearl
with these 2 items you should be able to open the chest at the bottom of the submerged rune

if any player has built a base that prevents you from digging the chest up, just report their base

you swim to the bottom of the rune where it gives you the key
scan the ground with your scanner (F), there should be 2 hidden chests

dig 1 of them up, open them with 1 key + 1 living pearl

you have to actually get a deep sea treasure, not the key

Just find any water or lake. Once you swim to the bottom, use your terrain manipulator to dig a hole to the depth you need for the milestone to pop. That's what I did.

Depends how good you know the game mechanics and how is your pace. I did this expedition in 18h but you can do expeditions way faster. Under 2h if you know where and how to do all the milestones

You can start expedition when you feel you are ready and are familiar with basic game mechanics

To start expedition make new save and chose expedition mode

I've given up trying to find a <2.5 corrosive blood candidate on this miserable toxic hellhole I'm on, but every time I try to take off for orbit I see a wrecked freighter and then have to spend the next half an hour alternating between looting it and hiding from storms. Are crashed freighter layouts different now? I've never had to do so much digging before. Ran out of Ferrite Dust, which hasn't happened since day 1 of my first save!

You start with a freighter, explorer ship (it's ugly but, hey, you have it), and a multitool that already has the terrain manipulator

Expeditions are similar to an alternate start mod.
Instead of starting off crashed on a planet where you learn the basics, it instead kick starts you with some stuff for the scenario and at the conclusion, it turns into a normal playthrough (except you bypass the crashed on planet start). That said, there were a few expeditions that started with you crashed on a planet, and even one where fixing the ship was 90% of the focus.

For Storm Crystals you need like hot or freezing worlds with Extreme storms and the crystals only show up during the storms.

I'm not sure if you've since fixed the issue you messaged about earlier, but I wasn't aware of any bug--affecting multiplayer--when I had played yesterday. Is it possible that in (settings < network < multiplayer) that you have that set to "disabled"? I know often for expedition runs I turn off multiplayer to help improve performance, so not sure if you had done the same and had just forgotten from prior. As for the portal in the Anomaly not working, that also isn't something I've seen happen before, but it may actually be that the service for teleporting was down at the time, or they may have been cycling to a new set of "featured" bases; honestly, I'm not entirely sure. I don't really check up with--bug fixes--patch notes, so I'm not really in the know most of the time in regards to what game features may be broken at a particular time.

From my experience, I've teleported to various planets under the guise that there would be the exact creature I was looking for waiting, and though the creature I end up finding looks the same, the stats of it are randomized completely. For example: I looked up specific coordinates for a 7 meter+ Diplo and each planet I went to would have a competely separate height from what I would see mentioned in a video/reddit thread. In short: creature stats are randomized per person, so what is true for one person may not be true in your run through of the game.

you're basically taking a gamble each time, hoping for the stats to be randomized to exactly what's being sought after

It's nothing more than my own experience, granted, the planets I'd teleport to were often from forums or videos that were a year old+, so that may have been the reason for the stats being changed (an update may have rolled through in the time between when the planet was originally found and now, which may be why the stats are now different). In any case, I did look up a video that was from a more recent time for the "Hot Blooded" achievement and was met with the same result--different stats from what the video in question had--so I'm not entirely sure, it's purely speculation on my end given that my experience only amounts to one, not all.

The path can only show as far, while the actual location may be further out. Make sure the path in Galaxy Map is set to the expedition route and continue to follow the green line until you see the system marked with a Rendezvous System icon.

welp, after completing all other milestones and searching like 50 planets, I've come to the realization that wasting any more time looking for predators is a bad investment.

I really tried to find one on my own, but the maximum I got was 25.7 out of 27.5.

You gotta scan a creature that meets the requirements. That's how the patch will take effect

The bug fix doesn't "fix" past scans retroactively. But when you do a new scan of the creature meeting the requirement, there won't be a bug no more, and the milestone will complete

If you know the name of the system, and you've visited the space stations in those, you can also teleport back to those locations

They are time limited events. There probably will be a exp 9-12 rerun in the future because we had already exp 1-4 and 5-8 rerun.

Do them in any order you can. Keep a good eye on the milestones and see how they can help and if they can be done under current circumstances

Sometimes you can get rewards useful for finishing other milestones along the way

Some of those milestones were pretty much designed to be done one after the other. You can unlock all the technologies you need to accomplish your objectives at the Anomaly, but some of those milestones will give you the tech you need for free.

Like recipes to craft electronic parts.

You can continue, a lot of the general progress you would normally get is present again after it converted back to 'normal'

The main rewards will be available on any save you start though and can be claimed at the Anomaly if you wish.

It's not really tied to the type of planet. Any planet with fauna can have predators.

As soon as you claimed all the rewards, it converts automatically

Correct. During the expedition, most, if not all regular main missions are sort of halted to not interfere with the expedition.

You will mostly be missing some of the 'tutorial like' missions.

@keen cargo Expeditions somewhat require some general knowledge with the main game mechanics. For many players very well doable to jump in. New players may wish to start a fresh save to be hand held some more into all the game mechanics as they progress from nothing. Considering you finished fine, this may not be needed for you. You always can if you wish though. You can have 15 save slots anyway.
