How do I put co-ordinates in to find the pillar?
You don’t enter coordinates anywhere. You have to fly the ship in first person view to go to the coordinates. First part of the number increases or decreases when you travel due north or south respectively. Second part of the number does the same thing when you are flying due east or west. Coordinates are pinned in this channel, you’ll have to scroll up a little for sentinel pillar coordinates for the third planet.

it's worth mentioning having those in your inventory in case you run across a drop pod period, since dropping a base computer to craft those items works, but when you delete the bc you don't get the materials for it back

I saw one person place their geobay (they had the metal plates already plus the paraffinium on them) right on top of the crater, jetpack to that, grab grave, gtfo, then reclaim the geobay, if that makes it safer

For the Phase 2 "Caldera" milestone:
You need not touch the lava, nor cross over the center of the crater. Melee boosting over a bit of the crater should be enough. Make sure you have installed all jetpack upgrades given to you (or blueprints that you are able to install) before doing this, nd let your jetpack fully recover from the climb up the volcano to the top, you don' want to run out in midair. You might consider transferring all items out of suit inventory to exocraft and ship except for one ion battery and one life support gel, so you don't have to deal with recovering items from a grave if you do die.

Oh interesting. @neat latch I don't know if it is worth mentioning in the tips, but you don't need to buy an exosuit upgrade at the terminal. Accessing it and exiting is all that you need.

You can put it's tech in supercharged slots and they will last longer

I use condensed carbon once I have a reasonable amount of it, for miningbeam, and in early phases silicate powder always for the terrain manip since I get plenty of it
there's not a bonus but I think it's less carbon (2 carbon -> 1 condensed) if you count raw numbers, by using condensed

Sounds like you have no choice but to make a base
This expedition is absolutely fail-able, only tip I can give is to make sure you have all the stuff needed before you leave your base
If you make a new base, you can then craft fuel
if you strand yourself on a new planet without mats or launch fuel, there really isnt much anyone can do but wish you well

there is a sentinel pillar quite close to the rendezvous point, see the pins in the channel, fly low and slow checking coords frequently in order to get there.

pulse out a bit from the planet and get a better look at it, you'll see where there are larger bodies of water, head for the shore near one
you might not find all 3 creatures but surely two, leaving you only one to go on the 3rd planet

Use your analysis visor to find copper deposits. Walk there, use the manipulator drill option to dig out copper. Put that copper in your personal refiner. Use carbon/condensed carbon as fuel. Start refining it into chromatic metal.

Everything has a nice order to it, planets are diverse, Sentinels were not a problem on planet 3, the milestones are also nice and diverse (eg. I dont bother with cooking)

It just takes ages without a boltcaster upgrade, and the steep terrain makes them walk in such a way that it's really frustrating to try to hit them

i needed to hover near center, some folks built a exocraft in middle jumped on it and then it worked, but for me, I just hovered across it. I think the radius is centered on center of crater
the mission says "crater" I think and not "top", so you need to go closer to middle of the crater (don't need to go all the way to center)

if you want to get your very own sentinel boundary map, you can try the buried caches on the starter world, there are plenty of them, and if prngesus is not being kind to you, you could locate a cache, save, dig up and open , if not a map, reload the save and try again

The missions give upgrades.
Mostly I just got rid of all the crap I didn't need, which is a lot.
Also you can use your exocraft for storage.

I stuffed a lot of items in the exocraft. if you get more paraffinium from a deposit on e.g. the starter world you can even build the colossus goebay and use that one as well which has a LOT of storage

I've officially gave up on the expedition, almost all resources i can find seem to be mined already, it keeps lagging so bad on xbox that my game crashes. I hope those who do it get the gear they want

Crafting Requirement: We have to register a base (drop a base computer) in order to craft items such as metal platings, hermetic seal, etc. Please keep this in mind and farm materials that refine to chromatic metal, like copper.

Exocraft: Build a Geobay on any planet once, to be able to summon it on that planet again. Dismantle it after, making sure you always have the materials on you to place it again on a different planet -- be careful not to spend the metal plates on something else by accident.

Use your visor to find Metal Fingers on the starting planet (also confirmed on planets 2 & 3). They're a 3-star resource, which requires the advanced mining laser you get from Milestone 1: Phase 3. They may drop Uranium (useful for Launch Fuel) or Gold -- Gold refines to Pyrite (useful for Pulse), and is needed for Solar Panels to power Teleporters.

Find at least three (3) Living Pearls in water, on the starting planet (also confirmed on planet 3) for Phase 3 Milestone: Pearls of Wisdom. Each pearl also refines to 100 gold.

All planets have copper and ferrite in this expedition so don't worry if you run out but it will get progressively harder to actually get to the copper sites on foot.

Avoid Getting Stranded
- Do NOT leave your ship too far away, so you can melee jetpack your way back to your ship easily.
- ⛽ Launch Fuel: Craft it at bases. Keep tabs on launch cost. Make use of launch thruster upgrade modules. Calculate that into gameplay choices.
- Land at existing landing sites (observe blue or green circles shown when you're flying near -- 🔎 see example »), like at NPC buildings, to reduce launch fuel costs whenever possible. Use your starship's scanner to "ping" for these.
- Have Geobay materials on you at all times -- after you build a Geobay, delete it, so you can build it on the next planet.
- After crafting anything, make sure five (5) metal plates needed for a Geobay are still in your inventory. If not, craft them before leaving your base.
Are You Stranded?
- Find other players' bases.
- Check for trade terminals that sell materials you need.
- Gather and keep enough materials on you to build base computers -- 200 Chromatic Metal & 500 Pure Ferrite -- since a base is required for crafting in this expedition.

you can see your current coordinates displayed in your ship once you are in the planets atmosphere, the first set is north/south with + being north and - being south, the second set are east/west, so + is east and - is west

On the plus side, at least one of the holes that used to be a copper deposit is probably deep enough to be my grave, so that's a job ticked off the list.

but for this expedition the couple of exosuit defense upgrades along with unupgraded weapons were sufficient

there's also the summoning station that lets you summon any exocraft you own as long as you're in the same system

I've tried all the exocraft, I think the Nomad is my fave

so you can have the exocraft platforms wherever in the galaxy (you need one to "own" that exocraft) and then the summoning station somewhere in the system to let you summon all your exocraft anywhere in that system (and there's also a freighter version)
for the purpose of the expedition i just deconstructed/reconstructed the nomad station at each planet as i went
nomad is nice because you can skim over water and everything
pilgrim is faster but nomad is more versatile in movement
