Monstrosities are one of the few things I'm wary of in permadeath. Even with stacked shield upgrades a body slam at the wrong time means you'll be having a really bad day.

Yeah. Leviathan is the only expedition i cheated on. I duped enough salvaged data to buy myself a S class shield mod, and then duped that to get my 6 + health tags; then i began.

like, the only way to get blueprints / tech upgrades was using memory fragments, so you never know what you'll get...

but there were some easy ways to farm those so it wasn't THAT bad once you figured it out

I have never had a companion before, much less have it hay an egg. When I got the companion it soad something about an egg in 24 hours. Do I need to be there at that time, or can I call it anywhere at anytime.

every 24h for regular companions, instantly for the one you start with, but needs to be in the correct biome type (planets with star bulb for the freebie one)

You should have plenty of time. I just did my third run, finished in 1h 44m. The free companion that you start the expedition with is ready to lay an egg immediately, you just need to get it to the right location (rendezvous 1 planet for example works)

Some question on Phase 2 - 1) where can I find a beetle to adopt, 2) what does it mean by take 10 photo with animals - is that 10 in one shot, or 10 different animals?, and 3) How do you get your companion to 100 % I have fed mine and petted until both circles show green.

#nms-expedition message for beetles, 10 in one shot, 3 - with the starting companion you only need to get both circles to green once, with other companions that you add after, it takes way longer. If you removed the starter one, then keep the companion summoned and feed / pet it whenever the bars go down a bit. It should take a few hours to max trust.

Keep feeding petting and riding. all ten in one shot; use your quickmenu to select the paw icon and then food and TOSS pellet onto the ground; this attracts many animals at once. Beetles are at rendezvous 2 monolith.

I have finally finished the expedition. Only the ending dissapointed me. I expected some unique life form at the last part of visiting a space sentience, not the ||gauseus one||, which we can encounter in random space encounters too. Also I didn't expect the game convert expedition save to normal one instantly after getting the main reward, so I was unable to take a screenshot of my expedition score.

sightseer doesn't mark any for example, it's not looking for a specific planet, but any planet of the required biomes

Its the same for the companion friendship if your a new player, the game doesn't tell you about the giant egg you can use at start but says about adopting and if you do your shafted as it takes to long to do (found this out after having to restart)

I have found some robot animals around as there are uncharted systems nearby.

And I think that expedition isn't ideal game mode for new players, as it starts with no tutorial. And unlike normal game, it can have unique rules and usually focuses on the part of the game. (Like creatures there.)

That reminds me one weird thing though - once I have finished the expedition, the game started adding to my guide information about companions and how they work. I wonder why that wasn't added there (or at least I wasn't notified) during the expedition? 🤔

I don't remember the systems.

But usually if an uncharted system has a planet with only two ground creatures, they will probably be the robots.

As in my experience on these planets (two ground creatures only) were always robotic creatures.

Sure, but an hour and a half is kinda mad dashing it. 1h45-2h is a more leisurely pace. What sort of help do you need?

Just clearing it really, as fast as possible, the speedrun is secondary to the limited amount of time I can play

that part is pretty easy really. At each space station, abuse the teleporter to reduce travel time, and that's about it. First system has a couple bases with extractor + refiners that you can use to get the materials for your hyperdrive + fuel without having to mine as much tho you still need to hand mine about 600 carbon and a bit of ferrite, maybe 300. The rest comes from trade terminals at bases, and extractors for indium / active indium for chromatic, and oxygen. It helps quitting to main menu after reaching each station to clean up the teleporter list to only show things in the system you're in.

you could just head to one of the known coordinates for horrors. Check the station at each rendezvous to see if there are any bases to shortcut you to one, and if not, the pinned message has the actual planet + coordinates you can fly to to get one, all close to the shore, no nautilon required

Nothing by the sounds of it. Feed 'em, then interact with them, and extract eggs. Don't make 'em into pets or it will give you fertilized eggs instead of food eggs, you need food eggs.

You're doing fine. Prazlich is really close to Bunyagile. Korvax system, 24 LY away. You can filter the galaxy map by lifeform (up/down arrows on pc) to make it easier to spot, korvax systems will appear blue.

that being said, at least for me, in 3 of the rendezvous systems there were 'kill 3 sentinels' missions for the explorers guild, which stack with each other, so if you pick all 3 of those up, you just have to kill 3 sentinels after to complete them all. Kill and feed missions, as well as 'take pictures' all stack.

For example if you had two 'take pictures of a marsh world' missions, they each ask you to go to a specific, different planet, but if you take a picture at one of those planets, it will complete all pending 'marsh world' picture missions.

for the Valuable Data milestone (200k creature), install 2-3 S class scanner upgrades with a bonus to fauna and scan random creatures until you get it. Easier if you have a supercharged slot to stick the upgrades in, but not necessary. You get 2 s class upgrades from other milestones (scanning 4x flying creatures, scanning 4x underwater creatures) and if you need more, the station at the second rendezvous system sells S class scanner upgrades. You can restock the shop by saving and reloading.

It also helps if you cluster all upgrades together in a L or square formation with the scanner, like so. Adjacency bonuses aren't much but if you're trying to do it with just 2 fauna bonuses every little bit helps.

You don't need to. Its a rendezvous system (rv1 = first rendezvous). Just use a space station teleporter to teleport back to it, assuming you landed at the space station there at some point.

What I would do is just go on a rampage murdering a lot of creatures, mix all the meats together into a large stack of mystery meat stew, feed that to cronus repeatedly in hopes of triggering the cronus milestone, and then cross my fingers that the cakes from the cronus milestone will trigger the 'bake a cake' milestone.

Nope. The marker is for the general area. Click the rendezvous milestone to make it active then locate the actual building with your visor.

It only indicates it if the rendezvous milestone is active.

Gotta click on the milestone itself in the expedition tab to make sure that its the active one in your log.

Anyway, the coordinates for each rendezvous are in the pinned messages, pin icon on top of chat for the desktop version, or above the user list after swiping for mobile. @lunar nebula

Also try not riding animal during using the visor if you are doing it. While I had no problems with it for this objective, riding companion can sometimes break visor points.

you don't need the target sweep. If you get to the location on foot, then the milestone completes. In the case of archive buildings, in my experience the game has trouble recognizing you're there unless you're on the ground below.

Been shooting at Asteroids for the anomely detector in order to get the space sentience quest done, does anyone have any faster way to complete that quest or find the detectors faster?

you can which planets have them by scanning in space. After landing on those planets you can do a scan for them using the visor, you'll need to dig at that spot then. Like for buried tech.

you need to go to a system where you have enough standing with the race to pull explorer missions off the generic mission board

you'll have that for all korvax systems since you got standing from a milestoe

note that some missions stack in case you feel a bit lazy (kill sentinels/creatures, feed creatures)

scan flora for example, you can have say 5 different scan floras pointing at 5 different planets, but once you reach one of those planets, all of the scan missions will 'accept' that planet

slot upgrades and SFMs for the most part, as usual I'm doing my masochist style playthru on permadeath...

which consists primarily of three added self imposed rules, only recharge hazard/life support with food, don't buy anything with units or nanites, no using coordinates from the internet :P

so those extra sources for slot upgrades, particularly for ships, come in handy because the alternative is salvaging crashed ships :P

crashed ships is definitely slow, espcially when you can collect and stack a pile of missions
