Maybe it is because everyone starts the Singularity Engine at the same place, most likely the RV5 system and therefore gets warped to the same system afterwards

Hey sorry, asking again. But my friend can't play the Expedition despite never having touched any expedition before. It just says "Expedition complete". Is there a fix to this?

Hm, I'm pretty sure they were, we tried putting the steam account Offline and back online again, restarted the game, it didn't help. I sent in a bug report too, but well, since there is no log or anything, they'll probably have a hard time doing anything with it.

Yes, we have no issues joining each other on multiplayer, but when she tries to connect to the Expedition save file I host on her end it just keeps saying "Connection lost" immediately. And nothing happens.

when you have a broken tech, you can choose one of the components and select 'repair' and the repair kit will just fix that one

so this works for the expedition for the matter beam I expect (as an example)

there might be some bases, but if you have some nav data, follow the pin in here on how to find a crashed freighter, just do it for crashed ships instead, you need to make sure both crashed ship distress signals are marked by maps before you go visit, since one may have an npc and that is the 'wrong' one

Install a pulse drive upgrade in your starship, and then dismantle it. Then expand that cadmium with cadmium + chromatic metal in a refiner

For the most part they've all kinda been memorable in their own way. I've only finished 2 and 8 myself but from what I've seen others say around this part, 4 and 6 were also quite neat. 4 was based around titan worms and 6 was focused on pirates. Both had a bit of a story to them. 2 was also really fun IMO and was a crossover with Mass Effect (you got a Normandy frigate for your fleet).

3 was also quite memorable since it mostly took place on one planet - although my enjoyment of it was marred by bugs and I never ended up finishing it. 1 and 5, which I also started and didn't finish, were kind of duds from what I saw of them. Most of them have been pretty neat though

really hoping they do an expeditions revisited again this year though since i missed all the coolest ones lol

the exocraft station on the freighter is used to be able to summon your exocraft on any planet as long as your freighter is in that system

If so then just shoot NPC pilots, those can drop the hypercore on destruction

I've left the save unconverted still, in the case that I might help people with the hospitality milestone if we get a rush near the end

they've made a lot of progress on freighter issues with the patches. so there are interior/exterior stairs now, interior walls you can place, you have control over the type of corridor (t junction, straight, etc), a few other things

Per this pin:

You do not need to install the "Amplified Warp Shielding" tech in your freighter; no milestones require you to go to a red, green or blue star system. as long as you've visited space stations, you should be able to teleport back to whatever planets you've been to. make sure to check the pins for info on the different rendezvous planets, in case you gotta teleport or portal to one of them.

So I found a portal and googled glyphs to a cadmium base and now I can jump like 530 ly and go to red stars 🙃

You can get cadmium at the space station. Just buy a C class pulse drive upgrade then install and delete it. Either do that 4 times or put what you got in at least a medium refiner with chromatic metal. You can also get Emeril and Indium in the starter system. I've done it a few times. Just finished my 5th Expeditions. May wait a little bit before starting the 6th one.

there's a pin in here on how to find a crashed freighter; it's the same xact procedure for the crashed ship and even the samer maps, except you should let both types of crashed ship locations be found because one is with npc and one without, you won't know which is which

and you don't want to clear 'wrong' locations until the 'right' one is marked

How to host a freighter visit from another player

Make sure multiplayer is enabled and that you see messages about other player activity.
Be in your freighter with player marker on.
Set Options->Network->Group joins to all.
When someone asks in the discord for a visit, dm the person your NMS friend code, and wait.
• Note that if both you and the visitor are on Playstation, the other player will send you a PSN invite to be a friend; accept it.
• DO NOT accept an invite to play together, it is not needed.
• A similar mechanism exists if both players are on Xbox, or both are on Steam.

How to be the visitor

Add the person's NMS friend code (Network->options->show friend list->add friend)
• Note that if both you and the host are on Playstation, you will get a prompt to invite them to become a PSN friend; do so
• DO NOT invite them to a PSN group or session, no need for this.
• A similar mechanism exists if both players are on Xbox, or both are on Steam.
Now you will go out to the screen where you can choose single player/multiplayer and choose multiplayer.
Then you should see the host's session.
When you load in, you'll be taken to the host's current system. Head towards the other player marker or the freighter icon.
Land in the hangar, claim milestone, go to the space station, save there, and then you should be good to leave the group.
When you do, you will be transported to your original starting point.

That's it!

Exclusive to this expedition, correct. Players can't get it in other non-expedition saves. It can be save edited though, if you're on PC.

At least that's the case as of today. No clue if that'll change in the future.

the singularity engine is not a QS rewards. it's just a technology that only exists in the Expedition saves (which once the expedition ends, you can convert to a Normal save but that's the only save where you have access to it)

if you're on PC, you'd be able to save edit other save files that weren't this expedition, to add the technology, as of today. but other than that, the tech's exclusive to those Polestar saves.

How to host a freighter visit from another player

Make sure multiplayer is enabled and that you see messages about other player activity.
Be in your freighter with player marker on.
Set Options->Network->Group joins to all.
When someone asks in the discord for a visit, dm the person your NMS friend code, and wait.
• Note that if both you and the visitor are on Playstation, the other player will send you a PSN invite to be a friend; accept it.
• DO NOT accept an invite to play together, it is not needed.
• A similar mechanism exists if both players are on Xbox, or both are on Steam.

How to be the visitor

Add the person's NMS friend code (Network->options->show friend list->add friend)
• Note that if both you and the host are on Playstation, you will get a prompt to invite them to become a PSN friend; do so
• DO NOT invite them to a PSN group or session, no need for this.
• A similar mechanism exists if both players are on Xbox, or both are on Steam.
Now you will go out to the screen where you can choose single player/multiplayer and choose multiplayer.
Then you should see the host's session.
When you load in, you'll be taken to the host's current system. Head towards the other player marker or the freighter icon.
Land in the hangar, claim milestone, go to the space station, save there, and then you should be good to leave the group.
When you do, you will be transported to your original starting point.

You can't transfer the existing one, but you don't need to. Since you have the blueprint, you can craft an additional upgrade on your new freighter. This blueprint is only currently available on the expedition save (without using a save editor), but you can craft them even after it converts to normal.

In a nuteshell think of them as season "Starter plots" or tutorials. THey give exclusive rewards and teach you the game along the way, hook you up with good supplies and loot, and when you finish the story you convert over to normal save and start the game in earnest, but instead of being fresh out of the water you have a good foot hold and cache of supplies to get going

They teach you about features in the newest patch more than they teach you about the game generally. 7 of the 8 we've had have been normal mode, but the one before this was permadeath. They are a lot of fun (imo) and give you neat rewards.

It's helpful to have a basic understanding of the game, but if you get stuck on anything, you can ask questions here and we'll help

also you can transfer stuff to your other save if you have someone to do the tranfer after your expedition is done and you convert to a normal save. I saved all the salved fleet modules and transferred them over because they would be hard to replace, same with the bulkheads and all the other stuff like that. I actually ran the expedition twice because after I had installed the modules, I managed to quickly farm up an s class ffrigate

You have to go to main menu (the one when you launch the game) - play game - select empty save slot to create a new save - select expedition mode (most right hand option)
