If it’s your first time doing the Living ship quest. You’ll want to hover over the void egg to know what glyphs it wants. Otherwise you can follow glyphs you’ve seen of other Living ships around from other players.

It is NMS, there are entire galactic alliances of "Wanderers" whose literal only purpose is to do exactly that

Older players usually

They wander, find bases, and build them out

usually its benefical and helpful they provide mats and do free labor

Other times it can be really random and disrupting like in your case

im sure they had good intentions

You can delete the pieces and get the materials so they donated you mats 🙂

Not too hard... just find a planet with extreme weather and fly around and you can see them glowing on the ground during the storm. There are a couple volcanic during the expedition that do nicely.

I dont believe so there is a seperate refinery path to get cadmium from other plants i believe

To get your first Cadmium you can buy a ship upgrade and dismantle it. Then dupe it with chromatic. Not all of them will have it but I got it the first time.

there are usally dozens of refinery paths to a product. check out the refinery maps on the wiki and such

multiplying chromatic metal into other metals has been around since launch almost. its a very defined refinery path for each of them and its self sustaining

Kinda hacky; I think of the issue as a bug, but at this point there's not much reason to fix it.

Honestly if you study the refinery paths hard enough theres a way to basically duplicate just about anything through cleverness. the chromatic metal one is just the easiest and most common becuase of its usefulness

It does take time though you have to have tons of reinferies and all that, so its a bit of a labor.

I set up like a 10x10 warehouse with 10 large refiners and once i memorized the refinery paths i was able to generate most everything needed for base construction

Find them in any inhabited system as part of NPC fleets, fly close enough to these fleets and you will see green icons for the frigates. Get closer and they will communicate

Not every frigate can be bought, but there are typically 2-4 in each fleet you can buy

If you got access to Normandy or Leviathan from previous expeditions, adding them to your fleet (from claiming the rewards from Quicksilver vendor) does count toward this milestone

What I did for this expedition was keeping only 1 frigate, the one I got from start, and sending that over and over again

The longest we expedition I got there was 1.5 hours

You can also get a map from the chart guy in the space station. He gave me coordinates for a distress signal and I went down on the planet, repaired the ship, flew it back to the space station and scrapped it.

Claim stranded ships, scrap them. Or visit player bases with free resources to sell. You can find those at the base teleportation thing at space stations. Just browse through the listed bases and warp to the one offering free stuff or mark crashed ship sites.

Is there a way to actually use the orbital exocraft materializer in the expedition? Without a base to keep my exocraft platform it says "you don't own..." when trying to use it. I've just not been using it and just keeping the mats on me, building the exocraft platform each place I want to use it, and then picking it up after. Can you just leave the platform behind in some random place or something?

So apparently yes, you can leave an exocraft platform behind and then summon it elsewhere. I changed systems and was able to. Anyone know if that works indefinitely or do you lose the original platform at some point? Does the platform just sit out there on some lost planet forever, potentially?

Murder the NPC ships on masse, someone will drop hypercore eventually

you don't really need to look though. you're eventually in a system with a planet that has them, because you have to go to the rendezvous in that system.

I didn't bother to go to the planet, it's true, but I got lucky with drops

(or rather, I went to the planet only to double check that it had storm crystals available, after finishing up all the milestones)

I would suggest disabling multiplayer, tp to another system, sae, exit game, reload, go back to freighter and see how it is

When doing fleet expedition do i send for example on "combat expedition" only combat ships ? On "voyage of discovery" only exploration ships ? etc or is it worth mixing them up ?

Deploying a balanced fleet will keep them safe no matter the objective. For combat missions you want a pure combat fleet. When a Frigate is damaged recall it and repair it fully. I've been holding out for exploration, discovery, trading and mining.

So I went looking for the 2nd Rendezvous. It took be under water, then 40 units underground. I reached the quest point but theres nothing there. No crashed freighter. I even mined out underground all around the quest point. What am I missing?

Not really ... once I knew the 2nd RP was underwater I got the sub and then once on the planet and identified the direction I should go in deployed the sub ... just hopped out of the sub now and again to make sure I was still heading in the right direction. And after a little while found what I was looking for

If anyone is interested in getting a solar at start...i had found one in one of the systems...in expedition...an A class ... So if you fix it you complete one milestone too... or you can scrap it to get a class upgrades.

All I did was;
• Claim ship and get back in mine then fly to freighter
• Switch to claimed ship and then teleport to station, you'll need to have added the Teleporter room.
• Scrap ship and got both milestones unlocked without repairing anything

well I use to do this: Claim ship, get back in mine, go to station and teleport to base then summon ship and then teleport back to station to scrap it ... but since you can now teleport to the freighter that process becomes: Claim ship get back in mine fly to station and then teleport to freighter, or fly direct to freighter if it's in the same system, swap ships and then teleport to station and scrap it

the above works if you don't wish to repair the ship before scrapping it

No idea, the majority of the ships I've scrapped have been obtained in stations so they're either A or S class as I was mainly after the Augments, but if I come across a ship on a planet I generally claim it then scrap it without repairing anything

i directly started the current expedition on a freshly bought steam copy im seeing strange bugs like one time my own freighter told it is not mine. and i cannot see any frigates to buy. im also stuck without freighter warp fuel and could not find any extreme weather planets to get strom crystals

anybody give some guide to get storm crystals or is it better to start a normal save then start expedition?

Bugs related to freighter showing up as not owned by player or seeing new parts in your own freighter have been addressed in the experimental branch on Steam

So fixes for those should be included in the next patch for the game

Freighter uses the same warp cells and warp hypercores as regular starships for fueling the hyperdrive

So you either craft them or buy them or get them as rewards from Nexus missions or local mission agents on space stations

Check the pinned messages on where to find storm crystals

Imo stating your adventure with the game with this expedition isn't the best course of action. I'd recommend starting a new normal save, learning the basics and game mechanics there and then jumping back into expedition before it ends

I've been having fun re-running the expedition to see how fast it can get done (without save editing/duping). I'm down to 2:10 and think that's about the limit without starting to get crazy with minor tweaks. What times have you all seen? Any legitimate runs significantly shorter, like in the 1:45 range?

That's "played" with the main delay being waiting for the frigate mission reset. My first run through was 8+ hours played (and much more satisfying with a cool solar ship collected, nice freighter interior design, etc.)

I wouldn't recommend speeding through it at all at first... but I've completed it about 5 times now for fun. 🙂 I've done every expedition at least 2-3 times. I just really like the structure.

I think there might be something somewhat amiss with the Normal mode conversion. On all of my other expedition saves, once they went to Normal I was able to visit my bases from my 'main' save. In my 'converted to normal' expedition 8 save, I visited a base that I've been to on my other saves and it's not showing up. Multiplayer is enabled.

Has anyone else observed something like that?

I've had several instances where I log in and fall through the freighter after autosaving and logging out, so I started logging out on a space station instead of reverting to the manual save.

I've had lots of fleet control, a couple of hallways and even a second copy of one of my storages (that I wouldn't be allowed to place myself), appear. Even an external walkway superimposed over the starting plant room. Looked like the corridors closed off, and a pain to keep deleting them.

But free silver I get back for demolishing stuff I never built 😛

Since it wasn't a phase reward, it can't be claimed at the quicksilver NPC. I'm not certain that there was any previous expedition thing like that which couldn't be claimable on other saves

No prob I literally said the same thing when I first started playing I was so confused lol had to do some research to find out you could get it otherwise. A large refiner and you learn the refinery pads and you can make just about anything

Yes, expeditions are their own save. They do convert to a regular save at the end.

This one you can convert to a normal mode save when you complete it.

this is the multiplayer bug that I've mentioned here and reported to HG, it seems to be colliding freighters together and you can see other people's refiner contents in yours
