see the pins, the faq about milestones tells you which planet and which system to go to (rendezvous 3 system) for storm crystals.

you don't have to hunt around for a planet, it's right there in a system you had to visit

(also generally have a look at the pins inhere, they have a bunch of useful info, about bugs and other stuff too)

How to host a freighter visit from another player

Make sure multiplayer is enabled and that you see messages about other player activity.
Be in your freighter with player marker on.
Set Options->Network->Group joins to all.
When someone asks in the discord for a visit, dm the person your NMS friend code, and wait.
• Note that if both you and the visitor are on Playstation, the other player will send you a PSN invite to be a friend; accept it.
• DO NOT accept an invite to play together, it is not needed.
• A similar mechanism exists if both players are on Xbox, or both are on Steam.

How to be the visitor

Add the person's NMS friend code (Network->options->show friend list->add friend)
• Note that if both you and the host are on Playstation, you will get a prompt to invite them to become a PSN friend; do so
• DO NOT invite them to a PSN group or session, no need for this.
• A similar mechanism exists if both players are on Xbox, or both are on Steam.
Now you will go out to the screen where you can choose single player/multiplayer and choose multiplayer.
Then you should see the host's session.
When you load in, you'll be taken to the host's current system. Head towards the other player marker or the freighter icon.
Land in the hangar, claim milestone, go to the space station, save there, and then you should be good to leave the group.
When you do, you will be transported to your original starting point.

That is normal, you can complete most of the challenges in any order you want

The game tracks your progress even if you dont have the other challenge selected as active

You have to build the overseer station first, and he will give you quests and blueprints for the rest of the stations and personnel. It's part of the base building for the vanilla game too.

There have been some bugs with freighter bases merging. It was a problem before Endurance, I thought they fixed it or got around it, but apparently not completely

NMS offers crossplay across all platforms it's been released on

the basic process is

1. leave the Anomaly and have them summon their freighter
2. make sure you dismiss your freighter or else you won't see theirs
3. land on their ship, milestone should pop up pretty much immediately
4. have them do the same to get their milestone if they still need it

Try not to get discouraged, they're probably not intentionally being unfriendly. Connecting with random players isn't the most stable, and they might be focused on their single player goals. I tried the whole paring up with random people and every time the mission started bugging out and the other person didn't speak English so we would end up staring at each other doing random things to get the mission back on track without being able to communicate. It's just easier to do the missions solo or with someone you already know.

this is how I've hosted hospitality sessions on my freighter, no neeed to dismiss a freighter or aything for that, assuming the player visiting is in some other system

if you're both in the same system for some reason then yes, the visitor will have to dismiss theirs.

If you need Storm Crystal just so you can craft Warp Hypercore, here's a tip: shoot NPC pilots, they can drop hypercores

Even if you just connect to your friend and play in their session

You will still be in the same systems as all other people who play expedition

You start in the same system and have to visit the same RV points to complete the same challenges

So the game will have to load them in your instance, which results in CPU load

just defer the squadron milestone until you've got the nanites from the rest

it is useful to stop and look at the milestones and rewards and see which things give usefuil items for which other milestones though

ok, i've been flying around T3 conflict (at war) systems for almost an hour, and have not seen a single pirate. surely i'm missing something obvious?
the mission agent doesn't have any hunt pirate missions either.
i've also tried hanging out at a trade depot, waiting for pirate attacks

if you don’t want to search for an extreme planet

Visit the mission's dude at the space station. They have missions to hunt pirates, getting you 6 or 7 pirates to kill per mission. It's much faster than stuffing your inventory with tons of copper and hope for pirates to come get some.

Could be a bug. I've had some issues when I return to my freighter with missions. I would wait for the mission to complete then see if the ships reappear. They will either appear at in the command room or randomly in a wall area. Then you can delete the wall area and they'll go back to the right place.

If you've deployed the Nautilon, don't forget to delete it again after use. You'll get your building materials back, so you don't have to grind them again for future use during the expedition.

Go to the rendezvous point first, then back to the commander. He'll have a report then.

Works the same for all phases, btw.

Set the second milestone active, open galaxy map and follow the green line.

When you reach the system where the rendezvous point is in, get in your ship and fly over. Swim to the derelict freighter and wait for the milestone completion screen. Then make your way back to your freighter and speak to the commander.

So far, this expedition has been the buggiest one yet, when I built the refiner room, it had 1809 copper and 4075 chromatic metal in it, I got the reward for building the teleport room without building it, I can now teleport to my Freighter and there is a teleport room blocked on all sides, and I just got the reward for building a scanner room, and I never did that either. Lol

Seems the freighters are instanced and many users are in the same instance. My freighter suddenly had 3 large refiner rooms and several exocraft rooms. Their builds show for you too. Some refiners still had mats in them. I could take them out and add them to mine. Got lots of free chromatics from them.
I've had blocked rooms too. Easy solution is to delete the rooms that block yours.

And I got several building milestones, without completing them myself too. Not complaining, though.

This expedition is easy and won't take long to complete. Even if you have to start over, you can easily finish it, before it ends. Took me less than 10 hours to complete.

Yeah, that’s what I figured too, there had to be some instance overlap. Quite ludicrous for such an advanced development team. Haha. Teleporting into a room that has a teleporter and walls on all sides was interesting though.

I found the same ship. Claimed and repaired it for the milestone, then scrapped it for the other milestone and sold the scrap parts for another milestone.

Edit: the scrap got me enough cash to buy 6 other frigates, without minding their price much. So, the ship got me 4 milestones easily.
I found mine by checking the player bases at the teleporter at space stations. There are many helpful bases created. Lots of free stuff to sell or use.

I've been trying to get pirates for two days now, any advice?
I am cycling through as many stations as I can looking for pirate missions, but all I get are kill X predators or kill X sentinels, etc.
I check the anomaly, but no pirate missions.
I wait in conflict 3 systems with lots of valuable cargo on my ship - but no attacks.
I wait in pirate systems at trade posts - but no planetary raids.
Seriously, my entire expedition is done except for this milestone, and i've only killed 2 pirates so far.
Any help is appreciated, I honestly can't believe pirates are this rare.

@void spruce All I did was once I got the hyperdrive for the ship installed and then jumped a few times until a Space Rescue was triggered killed the pirates and took a reward, couldn't afford to swap ships, and just done that a few times until I had the 16 kills required

From the main menu start the game like you normally would and when you get the option to pick a save to load there should also be an option to Delete that save ... for me on PC using a 360 controller it's done by pressing the right stick in and holding it

for PC it's normally Middle Mouse Button (MMB)

😦 Read further up about the buggy freighter layout.. I enter my freighter today to find a T-Junction blocking my path into the construction area. Tried deleting it to no avail. You WILL need at least 2-3 days - requires 8 frigate missions and you only get 5 a day

You can always abort the mission from the fleet control panel in the freighter immediately after sending them off. Still counts as an expedition, so you can finish in a few minutes. Cuts down to 1-2 days depending on timing.

So this is my first expedition. With regard to the rewards carrying over to other saves on your account, does that mean that unlocking the glyphs via the Hospitality milestone unlocks glyphs for my other saves as well?

No, completing Hospitality unlocks the glyphs for that save file only. When you finish the expedition, you get the option to convert your save to a Normal mode save. Then you’ll have the glyphs without having to unlock them/complete the Artemis quest.

It does not carry into other saves. Expedition Rewards and anything else purchased at the quicksilver vendor on the anomaly will carry over onto all saves.

This is a really easy expedition to get into. No fuzz, no endless grinding, plain and easy milestones.
Just what a new player needs to get into expeditions.

Anyone know why I'll just randomly complete expedition quests like "build a galactic trade hub" when I never built one? It's done it for a couple things. Also, a couple things were built on my freighter that weren't there before. Like I built a room and on the other side of it when it built was a stellar extractor.

when you lift off from a planet don't immediately pulse out, fly a bit and wait around, some freighters will pop in, head towards them, when you get close enough you should see some available frigates. same is true on the space station side.

living frigates need the Dream Aerial for the first one and anomaly detectors after that.

the dream aerial is a blueprint one crafts and uses once to get their first "organic frigate" (the leviathan is a living frigate, of a separate sort of breed)
