Hotspots might be in different locations, but that would suck if you built a base in expedition (wild computer or otherwise), converted it to Normal, then all your hotspots moved.

Anyone else got the problem that they cant play with friends after completing expedition? My friend and I finished the expedition and in our main menues the save is shown as a normal save. But if one of us tries to join the other it says that the friend is playing on expedition and we need to start a new save

Also every time we load our "normal" save it gives the message that we completed the expedition

if you're not on the same network (not both xbox, not both psn etc) then it's simple

one person gives friend code and hosts

the other goes to the screen with single/multiplayer and chooses multiplayer, then waits for the session to be viisible, joins it

then the person will wind up in the system where the host is. best if the host player is on their freighter so the visitor can head towards either the player marker or the freighter icon

land in hangar, leave, go to space station, claim reward, save, leave group, done

How to host a freighter visit from another player

Make sure multiplayer is enabled and that you see messages about other player activity.
Be in your freighter with player marker on.
Set Options->Network->Group joins to all.
When someone asks in the discord for a visit, dm the person your NMS friend code, and wait.
• Note that if both you and the visitor are on Playstation, the other player will send you a PSN invite to be a friend; accept it.
• DO NOT accept an invite to play together, it is not needed.
• A similar mechanism exists if both players are on Xbox, or both are on Steam.

How to be the visitor

Add the person's NMS friend code (Network->options->show friend list->add friend)
• Note that if both you and the host are on Playstation, you will get a prompt to invite them to become a PSN friend; do so
• DO NOT invite them to a PSN group or session, no need for this.
• A similar mechanism exists if both players are on Xbox, or both are on Steam.
Now you will go out to the screen where you can choose single player/multiplayer and choose multiplayer.
Then you should see the host's session.
When you load in, you'll be taken to the host's current system. Head towards the other player marker or the freighter icon.
Land in the hangar, claim milestone, go to the space station, save there, and then you should be good to leave the group.
When you do, you will be transported to your original starting point.

That's it!

you know, I was thinking about my freighter bug/exploit/ghosts and the weirdest part is, when I first jumped back into my save (I had suspended the game on PS4 from a day or two before), the refiner already had stuff in it and it was active. how did they even gain access to the freighter when I wasn't active on the network?

I mean straight up, anyone coming to your freighter had to do it when you were on line

I guess it's possible they were there the last time I was on, but I saved right near the refiner and would have thought I'd notice it if it was on. but maybe. It seemed like the player was on the freighter though because by the time i went to the bridge and came back, the mats in the refiner were gone

my only other thought is that there is some networking bug where the game is colliding freighter instances with each other, and I'm seeing people's activity on their freighter in that system

So... the difference between my saves is about 30+ salvaged freighter modules. And my old save has about seven S-class ships. Wow. I think it will be a lot faster to just get new ships than it would be to try to get all those salvage modules.

Oh! New question. When is this going to stop telling me that I completed the expedition? Every time I sign into this save, it pops up that I have completed the expedition, and it will be transferring to a normal save.

After having completed the expedition and converting my save, every time I log in that character I get that message saying "expedition complete, to continue convert to normal (ACCEPT)"

but my save is already normal, it appears as normal in the main menu,

one the expadition finishes and converts to normal you get to craft base computer

correct. if you feel like converting it, you can claim all the rewards, including the final one. and you're all set. all the main Phase rewards from the expedition save are claimable across every save you have (old and new).

most definitely make sure to claim all the rewards, if you're 100% sure you're ready for that expedition save to convert to Normal mode (even if you plan on discarding that save).

(duplicate cause it got buried) I have an issue where I cant assign frigates to an expedition despite them not being on one. They seem to be on some phantom mission where they are on 0 distance travelled

Go look for the "Hunt Dangerous Pirates" Mission in the Nexus. You'll be going against like 10 in a row so bring plenty of shield batteries.

And you'll get money.

I have phasers, missiles and the default weapon. No level of pirates matter.
