You have to be in camera mode but for some reason, it doesnt show the coords when you use the in-game screenshotting. If you hit shift to bring up the button guide while in camera mode, it will show the coords at the bottom left. You can then take a screenshot from your computer (ctrl+prntscrn).

@twin totem You can find claimable crashed ships on almost every planet, located using Emergency Charts or Minotaur/Nautilon Scanners. Like nearly everything in the game, their locations and class are the product of procedural generation, so if player A locates an S Class Hauler wreck, they can share the Glyphs and planetary coordinates so players B through Infinity can go grab the same thing - always disable multiplayer before travelling to a system for something another player posted coordinates for to ensure that you don't interfere with another player's ability to do so and vice versa.

Starbirth Quest

To unlock Living Ships, the player needs to complete the Starbirth quest once per save.
In order to complete the quest, the player must have the first 12 portal glyphs unlocked.

To start the Starbirth quest, obtain and store a Void egg (3200 QS at the Quicksilver Companion shop) in your suit inventory and then pulse in space until hailed by the Alien fallen host.

Don't need portals to start the quest. Just to finish it. There's a good guide in NMS help on how to get all 16 glyphs quickly.

You only need 12 for the living ship as well.

Frigates will turn into S class over time. Better to get high C class frigate and let it evolve to S by sending them on expeditions. They will end up with higher stats than regular S class.

Pepole are hunting them more for nice frigate colour rather than stats

We can't really trade ships between players

There is a method using an NPC as a middle man but it results in stats getting reset

If you like a ship you see, just ask where it was found and go there to buy one yourself

Then you can spend the money / nanites on upgrades

Yes, S is the highest class for ships, multitools, freighters

For tech upgrades there is X class, which has a wide range of stat values

Can be as bad as C class, can be better than S class

There is no such thing

Ships are procedurally generated from a set of parts

There is no 1 fixed model with best damage / inventory / hyperdrive / whatever

Everything can be improved by installing tech upgrades

@severe ibex The Fighter is the only ship that I own - the rest I just grabbed to take screenshots of then scrapped after I was done with 'em. But that Fighter is a classic, predates tech classes entirely, so it is one of very, very few C Class ships that has 48 slots completely honestly, lol.

Explorer has the highest possible hyperdrive range and lowest launch thruster cost, but lowest damage output
Hauler has the highest possible cargo storage space and highest shield strength
Fighter has the highest possible raw damage
Solar has the highest possible maneuverability, highest pulse drive speed (I think) and built in solar charging
Exotic is really good overall
Living ship is rule of cool
Shuttles can be smol

@glacial remnant the economies in this game are either tier 1, 2, or 3. This rule also applies to ships (and freighters). The economy level has a direct influence on the class of the things that spawn in that system. For example, a tier 1 economy has no chance to spawn a freighter at S class. But a t3 economy has a 2% chance

This is an explorer ship, which gives it bonus to hyperdrive range, meaning you can warp longer distances with the same charge

So you could try to maximize that aspect

tbh they should just have modifying the colors come at a negligible cost to stats, such that an unmodified ship will be very slightly better. if you like the ship hunting, youre rewarded, but if you just want your ship to look nice and dont care about stats, problem solved.

Memory fragments from expedition give you random tech modules or upgrades

Those modules can be S class by default (eg. Indium Drive)

So far the only way to bump the ships class is to pay with nanites

In my oppinion scrapping ships to obtain specific parts should be the new method and ship hunting could turn into "ship part hunting".

This is not how this game works

There is no fixed system that spawns only S-class venator freighters

You have to find a system that spawns the model you like and then there's a max 2% chance of it being an S-class

Something worth noting is if you are ok with an A class, whether you're going to upgrade or not, T3 systems have a much higher drop rate than outlaw systems.

For example, T3 fighters have the heavy pods, and are the only ones which can have 38 General + 12 Tech slots at purchase.

@brave quarry Irrelevant, class is rolled according to economy probability every time the ship spawns, and is unique to player, so you could stand next to someone while it landed, and it could be A Class for them but C Class for you.

Having a freighter would save a step of having to move all that stuff out and back, but it's not worth a while ship spot for it. Other than that sweet white one from earlier that I kinda want anyway

Same thing with explorers. With 3 S class upgrades my fighter can jump far enough to get anywhere I want without issue. Solars are worth it because they are so fast at getting around within galaxies

There's also a very pretty lush planet with luminescent purple grass in the system, so kinda nice for a few reasons. I built my settlement there.
