Tough spot yeah, I think a nice compromise would be to have additional cosmetic parts - so that your base model still needed to be found, but there would be a level of customization available as well.

One of the ways that sounded good last I talked about this was you'd have to find the parts on ships, bring those ships to a scrapper specifically for part reclaimation, which didn't get you the creds/loot, but unlocked a single ship part from that ship for customization later. So you'd still have a library of parts you could pick, so long as you found, bought, and scrapped a ship with it. That way you still need this community to find those parts, but could build your dream ship yourself.

every system has its own starship loot pool that includes one exotic ship (which is not dependent on economy tier, as s-class ships do). you can look for coordinates that other players share online if you want a specific design of a ship. but when it comes to exotics and s-class showing up, it's still RNG.

Gotcha so there will always be an exotic ship in every system so I just need to get lucky basically. If I use enough maps on one planet will one eventually pop up or is there a limit I noticed sometimes it will take me back to a spot I have already been.

oh you're trying to find a crashed ship? not sure what you mean about a map. i assumed you were trying to get an exotic you can purchase, which you can farm at a space station and/or a trading post.

Yea I’ve tried that it’s just not much fun I use the planetary charts to look for distress beacons I wasn’t sure if there were certain factors which increase my odds of finding higher tier ships and exotics/squid ships

for crashed ships, if you're trying to specifically find an exotic crashed ship, my recommendation is to look for coordinates that other players have posted. you can try one of our !search commands i can share below. so you can pass it keywords like crashed exotic red.

when i mentioned starship loot pools, i was referring to the ships that are flown by NPCs that you can purchased.

when it comes to crashed ships, different dealio. definitely RNG. so yeah, my recommendation is to look for coordinates shared by other players to get the exotic you'd like for free.

and when you look for coordinates, pay attention to the galaxy the coordinates correspond to. you have to make sure you're in the right galaxy for the glyphs to take you to right destination. you can catch a cab ride if you don't have glyphs yet. or finish the Artemis questline to get all the glyphs or finish || The Purge || quest from that questline at least

you can probably ask for more help with that in #nms-questions. most straightforward way to get glyphs needed for portal'ing to another system is with the quest i mentioned above. but there's another way to get those. and to get to other galaxies, you gotta travel to them. easiest way is getting cab rides from other players. for cab ride requests, you can make a post in #nms-lfg-or-trades (looking for group) channel stating your game mode. or try the StarCabs Discord which i can post a link to below

you can have up to 9. if you really like them, maybe keep them for a while?

if i have to decide on a single thing tho, anything really, and i like all options equally, then i let a randomizer (like flipping the coin) choose for me. if i don't like the randomizer's choice, i pick the other thing

with exotics, you have same bonuses. so prob very similar stats. so it's a matter of personal taste, what you like best aesthetically

Take them all for a spin. I bought my second squid because it looked nice. Traded in an explorer for it and paid extra.

Took it for a spin and didn't like the white zebra look. So that one is going

That depends on how much trouble it gave to obtain it. I'm keeping the living ships I've found, but normal metal ships or exotics are easier to get again.
But, if a ship ticks all my boxes, it'll probably stay in the fleet for a loooooong time.

If you really want to save time, fight the pirates and just go for an A class. The only thing you'll lose out on is a bit of stats.

No that's not how it works. The space battle starts when you warp into the system on your 5th warp. After that, you ignore the fight, fly straight to the station, get out of your ship to make an autosave, reload that autosave, and then the battle will be nearby the station for easy grinding.

Fight the pirates off, receive the transmission, land on the freighter, aim your analysis visor at the wall, and if you don't see the class you want, reload the autosave and try again.

No. They must be warps in your starship.

Here are some steps on how to grind a freighter. I'm not sure how to make it clearer than this:

1. Warp 5 times in your starship to trigger a space battle. This must occur 3 hours after the most recent space battle.
2. Once you're in the space battle, ignore it, land at the system's space station, and exit your ship to make an autosave.
3. Reload your autosave from the options menu.
4. Exit the station, head to the freighter, and fight the pirates off.
5. The freighter will hail you, answer the hail so you can get the freighter for free.
6. Land at the freighter.
7. Check the class of the freighter by pointing your analysis visor at the wall of the freighter.
8. If you don't get the class you want, repeat steps 3-7.
9. If you do get the class you want, head up to stairs to the very front of the freighter and claim it for free.

class is rng. hence the farm steps where you reload a save in the space station to keep rerolling the class

sucks about the crash. we advise folks to save often, with both auto and manual saves. at least that's a lesson i had to learn the hard way

To answer your question, 21 ship seeds are assigned to each system, procedurally chosen based on 14-digit universal address, but beyond that there's only 1 player who has figured out exactly how that process works, and I am not him.

I was offered one after defending it against pirates and I couldn't afford it. My current one is low tier and I accepted it before I knew anything

I'm hunting for an impossible to find ship. At none of the known sources, I was able to spot one. But I think the game should have it somewhere. A white/white Alpha fusilage, vector wings, single thruster and no dorsal fin. Pretty much the Golden Vector, but then all white.
Found a few quite close, but one had horizon wings, one a boxed thruster and another one had a dorsal fin. Picky ass me doesn't want those. 😂

Last night I got my first new ship aside from two fixed crashed ones and I love ittt

I botched my first freighter and now I dont wanna mess it up on the second one. So if you portal me to this system I would then have to warp to 4 separate systems and then warp back (5th warp) to trigger the fight vs pirates. before engaging in the fight B-line to the starport and save. After that return to the fight and see if it is the class I like?

I think ships refresh after a couple days, but if you turn off MP it is a little different

id say try turning off MP, saving, then going for the ship

Hey, not sure if this is where to post, but I'm new and want to get a nicer ship! Whenever a good one comes up for trades, it's a mil and a half, and I'm only sitting on at most two or three hundred thousand. Would you guys say it's worth it to take some time off of main questlining, and make some dough so I can impulse buy one? Is that recommended? A lot of the top board quicksilver quests have really high sale value rewards, like Frigate Fuel and I've been able to tangle with Sentinel Nests, Pirates and Hazardous Planet exploration so far...

My question is, the coordinates that players share online, I can get those ships if ill go those systems. Cause to trigger the living ship I need to pulse drive. Or if ill go to those systems, the ships will be random and its only working with the first living ship with the quest?

Starbirth Quest

To unlock Living Ships, the player needs to complete the Starbirth quest once per save.
In order to complete the quest, the player must have all 16 portal glyphs unlocked.

To start the Starbirth quest, obtain and store a Void egg (3200 QS at the Quicksilver Companion shop) in your suit inventory and then pulse in space until hailed by the Alien fallen host.

To get more Living Ships, the player will need a Void egg and 10k nanites per ship.
