get out there and begin the hunt for one

if we are talking about interceptors (sentinel ships like the one above us) then each planet has only 1 design that will spawn all over it

go find one that you like, then you can hunt for of higher class on that planet, as classes are random

tho it's ussually easier to find an A class and upgrade it to S class with nanites, its just faster that way

if you want an exotic, then good news: they are all S class (generaly speaking, single expception to that rule)

the bad news is that its pure rng if it spawns or not on an space station

just like with interceptors, an exotic design is unique to an system

you can always just buy whatever ship an npc has and upgrade it manually too ofc, you'll just need to spend some time killing sentinels for their glass to have enough nanite to upgrade the ship to S class

lastly, you can just use co-ordinates and portal addresses ppl drop here to go grab an guarenteed 1

idk about living ships tho, havent done them yet

Nice mostly black ship but some first person obscured view. A class on find with 18, 28 supercharge showing. Upgraded to check and 27, 29 were the other spots so a connected T 4 supercharge.

a possibility is that some slots weren't unlocked to the left which shifted the inventory view to the left

Yer sometimes you find a low slot 18 or so mill one, next spawn might be the 42mill one with more showing, but sc slots are tied to the seed of the ship on exotics, fighters, haulers, explorers and solar. Its why if you find a crashed version, it will always have the same sc slots between crash sites on those ships unlike sentinels.

The backside looks so good with the top fins though especially with the wing antennas, this (not my find) would probably be my fav out of all the configs.

It has a lot but isn‘t overloaded, I really like the lack of the additional antennas here, but it‘s not my kind of color and I wish the engine parts which aren‘t turned on, were turned on…the engine thing is the biggest troll by HG. But tbh this one might quickly feel overloaded with any additional engines glowing.

The confusion comes as exotics are always s class, so people presume that where to get s class to spawn the most is the best. The truth is exotics have their own spawn rules, seperate from other legacy ships.

There is 1 exotic design in every system where there is a space station.

If you go back to the planet where you found the c class cool interceptor, you can find a bunch more (put a base by a harmonic camp to reuse it indefinitely). Some of them are likely to be A class at least. Find one with really good supercharge slot positions when it is fully upgraded. To check, you will need a few ship augmentations and 85000 nanites (if you want to check C class ships). But you will get both by scrapping ones you don’t want to keep. If you aren’t close to enough nanites I would recommend buying illegal arms from pirate stations, opening them and selling the upgrades.

I got a 4 square exotic 2 years ago when I had only been playing for a little while. I barely played for two years and just got back into it. Now I am flying 2+2 or 3L+1 interceptors. It has not taken that much effort to find interceptors with good supercharge arrangements. Besides it is fun looking and very profitable.

I'm a freighter dweller primarily, so I mostly only use my ship to go visit planets. Solars take almost no resources to fly, so it cuts the cost of pulsing down to next to nothing, with a solar recharger you don't need launch fuel either. I use my frieghter to warp between stars so that's a nonfactor.

They don't get much damage boost, but they're very maneuverable and cheap.

Oh yeh that‘s def a smart move. But I have such a large stock of most things, it‘s really not something I need to worry about.

I also never dived that deep into the more complicated crafting. I made a circuit board farm, looked up how the path progresses, and decided it‘s too much of a hastle to build up everything needed for a stasis device/fusion ignitor farm 🙂

My money I mostly make through scanning, I dislike scrapping Interceptors as they are essentially sentient beings and I roleplay a lot

I think if they are black they arte called a flea. They have the best ability to manoeuvre in tight spaces so for gameplay they are the best design of interceptor. They aren't the best looking ships in my opinion but definitely not the worst either. I will probably farm a good set of supercharge slots on an S class.

Freighter class does not determine initial slot count range, it only determines maximum upgradeable slot count.

The fandom wiki is outdated in many placed/contains lots of anecdotal info that doesn't match how the game operates. Investigating the files that determine these things is a lot more concrete than infinite testing.

Personally I'd say it's a good decision to switch from the Sentinel freighter. You don't have to worry about that damn pole when flying out a pirate dreadnought.

If you can't find em, make em. Buy 3 C class Solar ships with parts that look good and use an S class core to build an S class Solar as your main drive around exploring ship. With the added bonus that you also get to choose its colours. Pirate systems have loads of Solar ships. just be sure that when you scrap the three c class solar ships, you get One Sails, One Body and One Wings so that you have what you need to build a new one. My Favourite is Raven body, Shielded wings with Torpedo tips, and Crescent sails.

The interceptor is named after the nudibranch and not the American aviators.

Yup. Interceptors scrap and sell for 15 million at minimum usually, much higher for B, A, or S Class. If you locate a camp, put down a save beacon so you can find it again and you'll be able to use the same camp to collect multiple Interceptors.

Correct, though the first couple will be the only hard ones, since you can then use the units to upgrade your tech, e.g. mining speed (for the radiant shard), launch thrusters, pulse drive upgrades, and cloaking upgrade (to get out of combat after you destroy a dissonant resonantor for the mirror), and weapon/exosuit upgrades

Mirrors can be a massive pain if you are unlucky though, I once had a crash site where it took me a solid 30 minutes to find a resonator

That's when I started to learn to shoot resonantors on sight until 8 have a stock of 10 mirrors

On top of the 4 square interceptor with good bonuses, this same system also has a blue and silver V wing exotic that arrives very frequently on the station. I have bought and scrapped it 7 times just when I notice one land while processing interceptors to upgrade or scrap. That seems to give 2 ship cargo augmentation modules for about 8 to 12 million units (cost 26 to 42 million but you get most back when you scrap it).

My overall favorite exotic would be a waffle-cone shape guppy though; so a guppy with the clamshell and boosters. In white (grey) preferably with silver linings.

I hate anything that‘s noticably gold, tbh. Only the Starborn Runner is alright in that regard, and as you could have guessed I really don‘t like its cousin the phoenix.

But yeh, if you‘re into a more royal look I can see how the gold would be appealing.

I'm not sure if it's a pattern or just sheer luck, but, since I stopped adding modules to my missions I started getting 4-6 spawning sacs per cycle (5 missions a day, every mission had at least one s class organic frigate), compared to 2 sacs for 10-20 cycles before that. It's probably luck, but whatever, it's raining spawning sacs now that I don't need them haha... well, I might try another living ship sometime...

Disabling them prematurely is a bad idea as they prevent the spawn of a sentinel walker

Sentinel walkers spawn at lvl 5 of a sentinel alert

and are bosses

I don’t use nests personally, unless to farm easy MTs to scrap.

It’s more rewarding when you have a good weapon build + good shields to tank the levels

They were exclusive to the end of Expedition 12: Omega, and a free Steam DLC only made available for a week in December 2024 respectively

about the antenna collision, if you're on PC there's a mod that removes the hitbox of that antenna

you can try using that if you want to keep the Sentinel carrier model

as for venators, keep in mind class is randomized each time the freighter spawns, there are no fixed locations / coords for S class

Just remember freighter battles happen every 3 hrs on every 5th jump so before you jump make a restore point do the freighter battle if it's not s class restore save not auto save and try again until s class

@lyric musk real quick I was going to tell you, the ship modules vendor in (reg)stations sells a reactor core, you buy the ship that have the parts you want to use. one ship per part- take it apart at the ship upgrade terminal and once you get all three parts and a reactor you can assemble them on the middle unit on the station and color it however you like. so the cost if you wait for C Class is about 12-18 million depending on what parts you pick... and you assemble it and add to your collection, warning though do not transfer the inventory right now it's being deleted.

Ugh and then you got to find one that's S-Class. I don't know if I care that much

There's the trick where you save then warp into the system, check the ship class, then reload a save and repeating the warp/check if it's not the class you want. You can use your analysis visor to check the ship and see it's details.

Beware that a corvette does a manual save when you exit the seat, so if you're using one you'd want to wait for an autosave before warping into your target system.

First, make sure it's 3 gameplay hours since your last rescue event, and warp 4 times. The fifth warp should trigger the battle.

2. Every inhabited system has 1 exotic model
3. Fly around trade centres and watch the ships come in, if there are no exotics, fly a little bit away and fly back again (causes a new wave of ships to spawn, keep trying until an exotic lands)

Go to a three star economy or better yet a pirate system. Hang out at the space station or a trading post. Be patient. It helps if you have something to do at the space station. Some systems have an exotic as a “first wave” ship - it often arrives in the first group of ships to land. In one pirate system I have bought and sold an exotic eight times because it kept turning up while I was salvaging sentinel ships. I already have a better exotic so I was scrapping the one that kept flying in for 2 ship cargo augmentation modules each time at the net cost of about 10million units each time - normally two ship cargo slots costs 140 million

true but I have heard stats are slightly higher on average at high economy systems and you have more chance of finding other ships to buy or buy/salvage. Pirate systems are good for salvaging solar parts. Pirate dissonant systems are great for salvaging interceptors.

You’re allowed to shoot em with your ship in a pirate dissonant without sentinel interceptors coming after you each time.

The point with mirrors actually makes it better to grind interceptors in pirate systems, because it's easier to grind mirrors in there.

Though the benefits are very minimal, if the whole point of doing it in pirate systems is to avoid the sentinels, using personal cloaking gets you out of combat pretty quickly and no fuss provided the alert level is at 1

you really don't need to claim stupid these numbers are for hard-core minmaxers, the real ship values you can get on a good SC slot ship will get you all the kills you need. even if the next system over might have 15% more dps on the max ship

i've spend more time installing the modules on my ships than looking for ships

i seem to like the positron weapon, and if i spend my time correctly I can get all 10% fire rate / damage on three modules that ship works so good ...

i think the damage is like 40% on a great module

but the idea is it feel worth is once in a while

the knife has higher raw damage if you seek best numbers i guess

With system freighters its really easy as they "follow" you around a system when warping between planets and everytime they warp in, they respawn

So you just pulse between planets until an S-class spawns in. Also do it in a normal ship and not a corvette

Well. I found two systems close by that each spawn a Dreadnought versus venator fight on warp. One is a t3 economy and one is a T2 economy. I'm warping between them, standing up in my Corvette, scanning both ships and then running away if neither is S-Class

Correction one is a pirate controlled economy. And one is T2 economy

Sooner or later. One of these four ships I keep scanning is going to be S-Class. This part just feels like such a grind

Half true, they have their own version of basically all starship technology, including that. You acquire all of these from Psychotic Eggs, given from frigate expeditions with a living frigate participating #nms-commands message
